Abstract Objective: We aimed to examine the association between the baseline Life's Essential 8 (LE8) score and LE8 score trajectories with the continuous carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) as well as the risk of high cIMT.
Methods: The Kailuan study has been an ongoing prospective cohort study since 2006. A total of 12,980 participants who completed the first physical examination and cIMT detection at follow-up without a history of CVD and missing data on the component of LE8 metrics in or before 2006 were finally included in the analysis. The LE8 score trajectories were developed from 2006 to 2010 using trajectory modeling of the SAS procedure Proc Traj. The measurement and result review of the cIMT were performed by specialized sonographers using standardized methods. According to quintiles of baseline LE8 score, participants were categorized into five groups:
Results: A total of 12,980 participants were finally included in aim 1, and 8,758 participants met aim 2 of the association between LE8 trajectories and cIMT/high cIMT. Compared with the
Conclusions: In summary, our study revealed that high baseline LE8 scores and LE8 score trajectories were associated with lower continuous cIMT and attenuated risk of high cIMT.

Abstract Inspired by the phototropism of plants, a novel variant of the rapidly exploring random tree algorithm as called phototropism rapidly exploring random tree is proposed. The phototropism rapidly exploring random tree algorithm expands less tree nodes during the exploration period and has shorter path length than the original rapidly exploring random tree algorithm. In the algorithm, a virtual light source is set up at the goal point, and a light beam propagation method is adopted on the map to generate a map of light intensity distribution. The phototropism rapidly exploring random tree expands its node toward the space where the light intensity is higher, while the original rapidly exploring random tree expands its node based on the uniform sampling strategy. The performance of the phototropism rapidly exploring random tree is tested in three scenarios which include the simulation environment and the real-world environment. The experimental results show that the proposed phototropism rapidly exploring random tree algorithm has a higher sampling efficiency than the original rapidly exploring random tree, and the path length is close to the optimal solution of the rapidly exploring random tree* algorithm without considering the non-holonomic constraint.

Abstract It is well known that the bubble dynamics and load characteristics of cavitation bubbles depend to a great extent on their proximity to the boundary. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between the boundary curvature and bubble dynamics, as well as the load characteristics, and summarize the relevant change laws. This study takes three hemispheres of different curvatures and one flat board as its main research boundaries. The hemisphere was chosen as the curved surface boundary because the hemisphere represents the simplest type of curved surface boundary. This method allowed us to easily observe the experimental results and summarize the change laws of bubble dynamics and load characteristics. A high voltage electricity of 400 V was used to produce stable and repeatable electric spark bubbles in this experiment. Since the pulsation time of the bubbles is very short, we used a high-speed camera to acquire the necessary photographs. We also used a Hopkinson bar (HPB) to measure the bubble collapse load. Suppose that the dimensionless parameter of curvature is ζ and the dimensionless parameter of the explosion distance is γ. By summarizing the 44 groups of the experimental results under different combinations of ζ and γ, we found that the cavitation bubble dynamics and loading characteristics are affected by ζ. With an increase of ζ, the shockwave load and bubble collapse load will decrease. In addition, in terms of load characteristics, this study further verified the change trend of the shockwave load and bubble collapse load with γ. For the bubble shrink shape, this paper illustrates the relationship between the bubble's shrink shape and its shrinkage speed. Four typical bubble shrink shapes are summarized. The effects of different ζ and γ values on the jet are preliminarily explored using the experimental results, and, by considering the experimental results, the developmental trends of the time of the bubble's first pulsation period are discussed.

Abstract The Biocompatibility and stability of nanoparticles using plants have been widely investigated due to its applications in the biomedical industry. Currently, there is a growing interest in nanoparticles in bone remodelling. Artemisia annua is an herbal plant commonly used in the treatment of various ailments. This study investigated the zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using the green synthesis technique from A. annua and the effects of A. annua ZnO-NPs on osteoblast differentiation and inhibition of osteoclast formation. The formulated ZnO-NPs from A. annua were characterized by using various spectroscopic and microscopic methods Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and UV–Visible spectroscopy. The disc diffusion method was adopted to test the antimicrobial efficacy of ZnO-NPs. The viability of MG-63 cells were assayed by MTT test and Osteogenic-related assays like Real-time PCR and Mineralization assay were adopted to determine the effects of A. annua ZnO-NPs on the multiplication and differentiation of human osteoblast-like MG-63 cells. The characterization of A. annua ZnO-NPs revealed the crystalline nature with high zinc content and the presence of bioactive compounds from A. annua extract. The synthesized A. annua ZnO-NPs indicate significant antimicrobial potential. Besides, A. annua ZnO-NPs enhanced the proliferation, differentiation, and mineralization without causing significant cytotoxic impact on MG-63 cells. These effects indicate that A. annua ZnO-NPs can both stimulate bone formation via the differentiation of MG-63 cells. Hence, it was concluded that A. annua ZnO-NPs can be a promising agent for the treatment of bone deformities and bone-related diseases, however further research also required to explore the clear mechanism of A. annua ZnO-NPs in the formation and differentiation of MG-63 cells.
