Abstract Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy for advanced malignancies often leads to off-target adverse events. Rheumatic immune-related adverse events can often linger beyond the duration of ICI therapy and sometimes requires the use of immunomodulator therapy. A key question, therefore, is if the commonly used therapies affect cancer outcomes. In this review, the authors summarize the state of the data as it currently stands, taking into consideration the limitations of the various source studies. The most information is known about glucocorticoids, which appear to be harmful especially when used early and at high doses.

Abstract Objective: Adherence to lifestyle changes after bariatric surgery is associated with better health outcomes; however, research suggests that patients struggle to follow post-operative recommendations. This systematic review aimed to examine psychological factors associated with adherence after bariatric surgery.
Methods: PubMed, PsycInfo, and Embase were searched (from earliest searchable to August 2022) to identify studies that reported on clinically modifiable psychological factors related to adherence after bariatric surgery. Retrieved abstracts (
Results: A total of 32 studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the narrative synthesis. Appointment attendance and dietary recommendations were the most frequently studied post-operative instructions. Higher self-efficacy was consistently predictive of better post-operative adherence to diet and physical activity, while pre-operative depressive symptoms were commonly associated with poorer adherence to appointments, diet, and physical activity. Findings were less inconsistent for anxiety and other psychiatric conditions.
Conclusions: This systematic review identified that psychological factors such as mood disorders and patients' beliefs/attitudes are associated with adherence to lifestyle changes after bariatric surgery. These factors can be addressed with psychological interventions; therefore, they are important to consider in patient care after bariatric surgery. Future research should further examine psychological predictors of adherence with the aim of informing interventions to support recommended lifestyle changes.

Abstract In this prospective study, universal admission testing for severe acute respiratory coronavirus virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) averted transmission in shared patient rooms especially since the emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 omicron variant when the yield in identifying infectious asymptomatic cases more than doubled. This change may be due to the higher rate of asymptomatic infection with the omicron variant, the broader community prevalence during the omicron era, or both.

Abstract SO 2 and NO 2 are the critical precursors in forming sulfate and nitrate in ambient particles. We studied the mechanism of sulfate and nitrate formation during the co-uptake of NO 2 and SO 2 into NaCl droplets at different RHs under irradiation and dark conditions. A significant formation of nitrate attributable to NO 2 hydrolysis was observed during the NO 2 uptake under all conditions, and its formation rate increases with decreasing RH. The averaged NO 2 uptake coefficient, γ NO 2 <svg:svg xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="24pt" height="12pt" class="svg-formula" dspmath="mathimg" md5hash="9994a0145bf18567b5d51cd11b781e64"><svg:image xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="acp-23-6113-2023-ie00001.svg" width="24pt" height="12pt" src="acp-23-6113-2023-ie00001.png"/></svg:svg> , from the unary uptake of NO 2 into NaCl droplets under dark conditions is 1.6 × 10 −5 , 1.9 × 10 −5 , and 3.0 × 10 −5 at 80 %, 70 %, and 60 % RH, respectively. Chloride photolysis and nitrate photolysis play a crucial role in sulfate formation during the co-uptake. Nitrate photolysis generates reactive species (e.g., OH radicals, NO 2 , and N(III)) that directly react with S(IV) to produce sulfate. The OH radicals generated from nitrate photolysis can also react with chloride ions to form reactive chlorine species and then sulfate. To parameterize the role of nitrate photolysis and chloride photolysis in forming sulfate, the SO 2 uptake coefficient, γ SO 2 <svg:svg xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="23pt" height="12pt" class="svg-formula" dspmath="mathimg" md5hash="7b9410df74d6fda480a64fc8606aaf92"><svg:image xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="acp-23-6113-2023-ie00002.svg" width="23pt" height="12pt" src="acp-23-6113-2023-ie00002.png"/></svg:svg> , as a function of the nitrate photolysis rate, P NO 3 - <svg:svg xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="25pt" height="16pt" class="svg-formula" dspmath="mathimg" ...<br />

Abstract In this review, we draw from observational studies, treatment guidelines and our own clinical experience to describe approaches to monitoring and management of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-induced inflammatory arthritis, including polymyalgia rheumatica. This condition occurs in about 4% of ICI-treated cancer patients and can persist for a year or longer. Mild arthritis can generally be managed with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, intraarticular steroids injections and/or low dose corticosteroids. Higher grade arthritis should be brought under control with corticosteroids, but early introduction of a steroid-sparing agent is recommended to minimize steroid toxicity. In order to assess the effectiveness of any arthritis treatment, tender and swollen joint counts and patient reported measures of physical function, such as the health assessment questionnaire, should be obtained at each visit. Referral to a rheumatologist is recommended for patients with high grade arthritis to help guide the use of disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs.
