    Abstract As the third largest river basin in the world, the Yangtze River basin in China has vegetation ecosystems in its plain, mountain, and alpine regions. Studying the change characteristics of the vegetation’s net primary productivity (NPP) and its relationship with natural factors and human activities can aid with understanding, to a certain extent, the response of the ecosystem to global climate change. Based on a total of 21 years of MOD17A3 data products from 2000 to 2020, this paper analyzed the spatial variation characteristics and future trends of the NPP in this region by using the coefficient of variation (CV), trend analysis (β), and Hurst index (H) methods. Meanwhile, correlation analysis was used to explore the influence of natural factors and human activities on the NPP. The results show the following: (1) the total amount of the NPP in the Yangtze River Basin was relatively high, and the overall change trend is rising, while the inter-annual fluctuation is evident. The total amount of NPP ranges from 0.786 PgC (2000) to 1.024 PgC (2020), and the annual average was 0.932 PgC. This increase was mainly caused by the increase in the average NPP of forest land, cultivated land, and construction land. (2) The mean value of the NPP in the different regions of the Yangtze River Basin ranged from 0 (construction land) to 1902.89 gC/m 2 ·a. The mean value of the NPP in the Yangtze River Basin was high in the south and low in the north, as well as high in the middle and low in the east and west. The main high-value areas were located in the Hengduan Mountains and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The coefficient of variation (CV) was 0.0009–0.9980, and the mean CV was only 0.1126. Regarding the future development trend, 77.90% and 22.10% of the regions showed an increase, 22.10% showed a decrease, and 75.25% showed an anti-sustainable state. (3) The effect of human activities on the NPP was generally negative, and the loss of NPP due to land use change in 2020 was around 9.85 TgC when compared with the same in 2000. ...

    Abstract Knee braces are commonly used to support the knee joint and improve function. However, brace sliding caused by the misalignment between brace and knee during motion is a common problem, which reduces the therapeutic effect and leads to brace abandonment. To investigate the effect of mechanism combinations on sliding, an experimental brace was designed to isolate the mechanism as the sole variable. Ten healthy participants were recruited, each of whom worn four combinations of lateral/medial mechanisms: lateral and medial single-axis (SA), lateral super gear (SG) and medial non-circular gear (NCG), lateral four-bar linkage (FL) and medial SG, and lateral FL and medial NCG. The knee flexion angle was collected using inertial measurement units, and brace sliding was measured by 3D motion capture system.     Abstract Domestic wastewater in decentralized sites is capturing increasing attention. However, conventional treatment technology is not sufficiently cost-effective. In this study, real domestic wastewater was treated directly using a gravity-driven membrane bioreactor (GDMBR) at 45 mbar without backwashing or chemical cleaning, and the effects of different membrane pore sizes (0.22 μm, 0.45 μm, and 150 kDa) on flux development and contaminants removal were examined. The results showed that the flux initially decreased and then stabilized throughout long-term filtration and that the stabilized flux level of the GDMBR equipped the membranes with the pore size of 150 kDa and 0.22 μm was higher than that of 0.45 μm membrane and was in the range of 3-4 L m

    Abstract Background: The aim of this prospective study was to assess the incidence of complex regional pain syndrome type I (CRPS I) in patients with scaphoid waist fracture and to explore associated factors.
    Methods: This was a multicenter, prospective observational study. Demographic, imaging indicators and clinical data were collected before the conservative treatment of scaphoid waist fracture patients. The occurrence of CRPS I and pain condition were the main outcomes. To explore the factors associated with CRPS I, multivariate logistic regression model was used.
    Results: A total of 493 scaphoid waist fracture participants undergoing conservative treatment were recruited for this study. The incidence of CRPS I was 20% (n = 87). The average time between injury and the onset of CRPS I was 6.7 ± 2.1 weeks. Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that female sex (odds ratio (OR): 1.669; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.189-2.338), diabetes mellitus (OR: 3.206; 95% CI: 2.284-4.492), and severe pain condition before treatment (visual analog scale (VAS) score more than 4 cm) (OR: 27.966; 95% CI: 19.924-39.187) were independently associated with CRPS I.
    Conclusions: Patients suffering from scaphoid waist fracture may be at a higher risk of CRPS I, especially in women with diabetes mellitus who report severe pain before treatment. Early screening and regular follow up evaluation are recommended in these patients.

    Abstract Recently, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been widely developed due to the rich porosity, excellent framework structure and multifunctional nature. Meanwhile, a series of MOFs crystals and MOF-based composites have been emerged. However, the widespread applications of MOFs are hindered by challenges such as rigidity, fragility, solution instability, and processing difficulties. In this study, we addressed these limitations by employing an in-situ green growth approach to prepare a zeolitic imidazolate frameworks-8@poly (γ-glutamic acid) hydrogel (ZIF-8@γ-PGA) with hierarchical structures. This innovative method effectively resolves the inherent issues associated with MOFs. Furthermore, the ZIF-8@γ-PGA hydrogel is utilized for dye adsorption, demonstrating an impressive maximum adsorption capacity of 1130 ± 1 mg/g for methylene blue (MB). The adsorption behavior exhibits an excellent agreement with both the kinetic model and isotherm. Meanwhile, because the adsorbent raw materials are all green non-toxic materials, multiple applications of materials can also be realized. Significantly, the results of antibacterial experiments showed that the ZIF-8@γ-PGA hydrogel after in-situ growth of ZIF-8 had better antibacterial properties. Thus, the ZIF-8@γ-PGA hydrogel has great potential for development in wound dressings, sustained drug owing to its biocompatibility and antibacterial activity.

    Abstract Sunlight illumination has the potential to control the stability and sustainability of dynamic membrane (DM) systems. In this study, an up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor was combined with DM under different illumination positions (direct, indirect and no illumination) to treat wastewater. Results indicated that the UASB achieved a COD removal up to 87.05 % with an average methane production of 0.28 L/d. Following treatment by the UASB, it was found that under illumination, the removal of organic substances by DM exhibited poor performance due to algal proliferation. However, the DM systems demonstrated efficient removal of ammonia nitrogen, ranging from 96.21 % to 97.67 % after stabilization. Total phosphorus removal was 45.72 %, and membrane flux remained stable when directly illuminated. Conversely, the DM system subjected to indirect illumination showed unstable membrane flux and severe fouling resistance. These findings offer valuable insights into optimizing illumination positions in DM systems under anaerobic conditions.

    Abstract Antibiotic residues in mariculture wastewater seriously affect the aquatic environment. Antibiotic Resistance Genes (ARGs) produced under antibiotic stress flow through the environment and eventually enter the human body, seriously affecting human health. Microalgal-bacterial symbiotic system (MBSS) can remove antibiotics from mariculture and reduce the flow of ARGs into the environment. This review encapsulates the present scenario of mariculture wastewater, the removal mechanism of MBSS for antibiotics, and the biomolecular information under metagenomic assay. When confronted with antibiotics, there was a notable augmentation in the extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) content within MBSS, along with a concurrent elevation in the proportion of protein (PN) constituents within the EPS, which limits the entry of antibiotics into the cellular interior. Quorum sensing stimulates the microorganisms to produce biological responses (DNA synthesis - for adhesion) through signaling. Oxidative stress promotes gene expression (coupling, conjugation) to enhance horizontal gene transfer (HGT) in MBSS. The microbial community under metagenomic detection is dominated by aerobic bacteria in the bacterial-microalgal system. Compared to aerobic bacteria, anaerobic bacteria had the significant advantage of decreasing the distribution of ARGs. Overall, MBSS exhibits remarkable efficacy in mitigating the challenges posed by antibiotics and resistant genes from mariculture wastewater.
