    Abstract: ... penetration potential. How to cite this article: Torres CRG, Zanatta RF, Godoy MMM, ...

    Abstract Aim and objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of hydrogen peroxide concentration on the bleaching efficacy and penetration through the tooth structure.
    Materials and methods: One hundred enamel/dentin specimens with cylindrical shape were obtained from bovine incisors. The surfaces were polished and the size standardized. They were divided into five groups (
    Results: The peroxide concentrations of 20-30% showed smaller bleaching effect than the higher concentrations (
    Conclusion: The higher peroxide concentrations enhance the bleaching efficacy, but also increased the peroxide penetration through the tooth structure.
    Clinical significance: In-office bleaching gels with higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (35 and 40%) present superior whitening efficacy. Nevertheless, they might also intensify the negative biological effects on the pulpal tissue, since they exhibit increased penetration potential. Abstract Academic well-being is one of several elements that influence students' math learning and performance. This study looked at students' academic well-being in terms of math self-concept, schoolwork engagement, and burnout in relation to their educational aspirations in mathematics. It looked at the connections between the learners' mathematical performance and educational goals, as well as the connections between the learners' academic well-being and those variables. It used a descriptive-correlational study design. The population of grade 10 students from Lawa Integrated School served as the source of the statistics 161 students were gathered using the standard random sampling method (males: 86, females: 75). A survey questionnaire was used to assess the student's academic well-being in terms of math self-concept, schoolwork engagement, and school burnout, educational aspirations, and mathematics achievement to gather data. The mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, mean percentage scores, Pearson product-moment, and Spearman rank order correlations were used to examine the collected data. The results showed a robust and statistically significant association between the student's academic success and their arithmetic proficiency. The findings showed a small but statistically significant correlation between the learners' academic well-being and educational aspirations. On the other hand, there was a modest and statistically significant correlation between the learners' academic achievement in mathematics and their aspirations for further education.

    Abstract Background: Tradipitant, an NK1 receptor antagonist, improved symptoms in patients with gastroparesis. It is unclear whether these effects are mediated centrally (e.g., vomiting centre) or on gastric functions. As a class, NK1 antagonists may retard gastric emptying (GE) or increase fasting and postprandial gastric volumes (GV).
    Aim: To evaluate the effects of tradipitant relative to placebo on gastric motor functions, satiation, postprandial symptoms, and pharmacokinetics.
    Methods: We conducted a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, single-centre study of tradipitant 85 mg or matching placebo b.i.d. for 9 consecutive days in 24 healthy volunteers. During the last 2 days of treatment, participants underwent scintigraphic measurements of GE of 320 kcal egg meal, fasting and postprandial GV by SPECT, and satiation by nutrient drink ingested to maximum tolerated volume (MTV) and symptoms 30 min later. Treatments were compared by Wilcoxon rank sum test. The study had 80% power to detect group differences of 23.6% in GV and 29.2% in GE T
    Results: The two groups of healthy participants were well balanced based on demographic features, age, and BMI. There were nonsignificant positive correlations between blood levels of tradipitant and accommodation GV and GE at 4 h. There were no significant effects of tradipitant, 85 mg b.i.d. for 9 days compared to placebo on GE, GV, satiation, or symptoms 30 min after MTV.
    Conclusion: Tradipitant, 85 mg b.i.d., does not significantly affect gastric motor functions (GV or GE). Importantly, there was no retardation of GE by tradipitant, which is important in relation to its potential use in patients with gastroparesis.

    Abstract RESUMO: As microalgas são organismos cuja biomassa possui biomoléculas abundantes como carboidratos, lipídeos, proteínas, pigmentos, vitaminas, minerais e compostos antioxidantes, com inúmeras aplicações industriais com destaque para os segmentos de alimentos, nutricional, farmacológico, cosmético e de energia, na produção de biocombustíveis. Entretanto, o acesso de forma integra a essas biomoléculas pode ser dificultado pela rigidez estrutural de sua parede celular, sendo necessário a aplicação de um pré-tratamento que promova a lise celular. As diferentes técnicas de ruptura celular aplicáveis à biomassa microalgal descritas na literatura podem ser de natureza mecânica, com destaque para as técnicas de moagem em moinho de bolas e homogeneização à alta pressão (HAP) ou não mecânica (química, térmica e enzimática), cada uma com vantagens e desvantagens. Assim, o objetivo da presente revisão narrativa é descrever o uso de diferentes métodos para o rompimento de células de microalgas, com suas vantagens, desvantagens e seus desafios.

    Abstract Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and/or circulating tumor microemboli (CTM) from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients may be a non-invasive tool for prognosis, acting as liquid biopsy. CTCs interact with platelets through the transforming growth factor-β/transforming growth factor-β receptor type 1 (TGF-β/TGFβRI) forming clusters. CTCs also may express the Cluster of Differentiation 47 (CD47) protein, responsible for the inhibition of phagocytosis, the "don't eat me" signal to macrophages.
    Objectives: To isolate, quantify and analyze CTCs/CTMs from metastatic NSCLC patients, identify TGFβRI/CD47 expression in CTCs/CTMs, and correlate with progression-free survival (PFS).
    Methods: Blood (10 mL) was collected at two time-points: T1 (before the beginning of any line of treatment; T2 (60 days after initial collection). CTCs were isolated using ISET
    Results: 45 patients were evaluated. CTCs were observed in 82.2% of patients at T1 (median: 1 CTC/mL; range: 0.33-11.33 CTCs/mL) and 94.5% at T2 (median: 1.33 CTC/mL; 0.33-9.67). CTMs were observed in 24.5% of patients and significantly associated with poor PFS (10 months vs. 17 months for those without clusters;
    Conclusion: In this study, we observed that CTC/CTM from NSCLC patients express the immune evasion markers TGFβRI/CD47. The presence of CTMs CD47+ is associated with poor PFS. This was the first study to investigate CD47 expression in CTCs/CTM of patients with NSCLC and its association with poor PFS.
