Abstract David T. Yue was a renowned biophysicist who dedicated his life to the study of Ca(2+) signaling in cells. In the wake of his passing, we are left not only with a feeling of great loss, but with a tremendous and impactful body of work contributed by a remarkable man. David's research spanned the spectrum from atomic structure to organ systems, with a quantitative rigor aimed at understanding the fundamental mechanisms underlying biological function. Along the way he developed new tools and approaches, enabling not only his own research but that of his contemporaries and those who will come after him. While we cannot hope to replicate the eloquence and style we are accustomed to in David's writing, we nonetheless undertake a review of David's chosen field of study with a focus on many of his contributions to the calcium channel field.

Abstract Florfenicol (FLO) is a widely used antibacterial drug, which is often detected in the environment. In this paper, the photolysis mechanism of FLO in water was investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT). The focus of the study is to elucidate the direct photolysis mechanism of FLO in the water environment and the indirect photolysis of free radicals (·OH, ·NO

Abstract In order to study the adhesion properties of fast-melting SBS-modified asphalt (SBS-T) at the interface with aggregates, the contact angles of three dosages of SBS-T asphalt with three liquids (distilled water, glycerol, and formamide) were determined by the sessile drop method based on surface free energy theory. The evaluation indexes such as cohesion, asphalt-aggregate adhesion, stripping work and energy ratio of the asphalt were analyzed and the adhesion properties of the asphalt-aggregate system were investigated with the help of micromechanical methods. The results indicate that SBS-T can improve the adhesion properties of the asphalt. Furthermore, as the dosage of the modifier increases, the cohesion work, adhesion work, and energy ratio of the SBS-T asphalt exhibit a similar rise. As the spalling work reduces and the adhesion between asphalt and aggregate improves, it is noteworthy that the SBS-T asphalt-aggregate system exhibits superior adhesion performance compared to the SBS-modified asphalt-aggregate system, despite the same dosage.

Abstract Immunotherapy exerts its excellent anti-tumor effects by stimulating and enhancing the immune response of the body, and has become another important class of anti-tumor therapy besides chemotherapy, targeted therapy and radiotherapy. Various types of immunotherapeutic drugs have gained their clinical values, but the in vivo delivery of drugs still faces many challenges, such as poor tumor permeability and low tumor cell uptake rate. In recent years, owing to highly targeting properties, better biocompatibility, and easy functionalization, nanomaterials have been widely applicated in tumor treatment, especially in tumor immunotherapy. Furthermore, nanomaterials have large drug loading capacity, strong tumor targeting and easy modification, which can effectively overcome the drawbacks of traditional immunotherapy. This paper reviews the progress of nanomaterial-based tumor immunotherapy in recent years and provides a theoretical basis for exploring new nanomaterial-based tumor immunotherapy strategies.
