Abstract | In a special interview conducted by oncologist Dr. Frederick R. Applebaum, Dr. Robert P. Gale discusses the bone marrow transplantations he performed on victims of the 1986 nuclear reactor accident at Chernobyl. As transplantation methods--both investigational and proven--are explored, they conclude that American medical centers and physicians must be prepared in the event of a similar accident. |
