Abstract The achievement of highly efficient power conversion efficiency (PCE) is a big concern for non-fullerene organic solar cells (NF-OSCs) because PCE can depend on numerous variables. Here, new five novel acceptor molecules without fullerenes were developed and investigated using DFT (density functional theory) and TD-DFT (time dependent-density functional theory). Compared to the recently synthesized molecule (PZ-dIDTC6), the developed molecules display a narrow optical band gap, exhibiting a red shift in the absorption spectrum. The developed molecules (YM1-YM5) express high mobility of electrons and holes in the active layer of OSCs (organic solar cells). In addition, high open-circuit voltage (V

Abstract Novel ultrafiltration (UF) polymer membranes were prepared to enhance the antifouling features and filtration performance. Several ultrafiltration polymer membranes were prepared by incorporating different concentrations of water-soluble cationic poly [2-(dimethyl amino) ethyl methacrylate] (PDMAEMA) into a homogenous casting solution of polyethersulfone (PES). After adding PDMAEMA, the effects on morphology, hydrophilicity, thermal stability, mechanical strength, antifouling characteristics, and filtration performance of these altered blended membranes were investigated. It was observed that increasing the quantity of PDMAEMA in PES membranes in turn enhanced surface energy, hydrophilicity, and porosity of the membranes. These new modified PES membranes, after the addition of PDMAEMA, showed better filtration performance by having increased water flux and a higher flux recovery ratio (FRR%) when compared with neat PES membranes. For the PES/PDMAEMA membrane, pure water flux with 3.0 wt.% PDMAEMA and 0.2 MPa pressure was observed as (330.39 L·m

Abstract In today's competitive and volatile market, demand prediction for seasonal items is a challenging task. The variation in demand is so quick that the retailer cannot face the risk of understocking or overstocking. Unsold items need to discarded, which has environmental implications. It is often difficult to calculate the effects of lost sales on a firm's monetary values, and environmental impact is not a concern to most businesses. These issues concerned with the environmental impact and the shortages are considered in this paper. A single-period inventory mathematical model is formulated to maximize expected profit in a stochastic scenario while calculating the optimal price and order quantity. The demand considered in this model is price-dependent, with several emergency backordering options to overcome the shortages. The demand probability distribution is unknown to the newsvendor problem. The only available demand data are the mean and standard deviation. In this model, the distribution-free method is applied. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the model's applicability. To prove that this model is robust, sensitivity analysis is performed.

Abstract Owing to the tremendous energy storage capacity of two-dimensional transition metal carbides (MXenes), they have been efficiently utilized as a promising candidate in the field of super-capacitors. The energy storage capacity of MXenes can be further enhanced using metal dopants. Herein, we have reported the synthesis of pristine and nickel doped niobium-carbide (Nb
