Abstract Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is the end-stage of continuous inflammation and fibrosis in the pancreas evolving from acute- to recurrent acute-, early, and, finally, end-stage CP. Currently, prevention is the only way to reduce disease burden. In this setting, early detection is of great importance. Due to the anatomy and risks associated with direct sampling from pancreatic tissue, most of our information on the human pancreas arises from circulating biomarkers thought to be involved in pancreatic pathophysiology or injury. The present review provides the status of circulating biomarkers involved in the development of and progression to CP.

Abstract Sheehan's syndrome is a postpartum hypopituitarism state caused by necrosis of the pituitary gland. It is usually the result of severe hypotension or shock caused by massive hemorrhage during or after delivery. Sheehan's syndrome symptoms are often subtle and hence it is diagnosed late. Herein, we report a case of a 41-year-old woman who developed severe postpartum hemorrhage after childbirth that required a total abdominal hysterectomy to control bleeding at the age of 36 years. Since then, she has progressively developed symptoms of headache, general fatigue, and malaise, and finally presented with pancytopenia for investigations. Anemia is a well-known hematological association with Sheehan's syndrome while pancytopenia is rarely reported. However, complete recovery of pancytopenia was observed after the treatment. Pancytopenia (due to bone marrow failure to produce cells) is a serious finding in clinical practice that causes significant stress as it may point to a diagnosis of malignancy (mainly leukemia) and other serious disorders. Despite being a rare cause, a high index of suspicion is required from the physicians in women with pancytopenia, in order to look for a possible treatable cause of pancytopenia (like Sheehan's syndrome), if the common causes were excluded.

Abstract The hydrogenation reaction of alkene is one of the most used industrial chemical process for various materials of daily life and energy consumption. This is a heterogeneous reaction and traditionally carried out by metallic catalysis. However, these conventional catalytic hydrogenations of alkene suffer from various setbacks such as catalyst poisoning, less recyclability and are environmentally unfriendly. Therefore, in recent years, researchers have been trying to develop the alternatives to metal catalysis hydrogenation of alkene. Heterogeneous catalysis under the external electric field is considered the future of green catalysis. In this paper, we report a comprehensive investigation dealing with the theoretical basis for simulating the phenomenon of heterogeneous catalysis, on a molecular level, under an external electric field. The illustration of the prospect as well as the effects of the mostly used catalytic systems, reduced graphene oxide, under the influence of external electric fields is provided. Moreover, a noble method of alkene hydrogenation reaction based on cotton textile reduced graphene oxide (CT-RGO) under the influence of an external electric field is introduced. The corresponding theoretical investigation was carried out within the framework of the density functional theory (DFT) method using first-principles calculations. The study has been carried out by elucidating DFT calculations for three different proposed catalytic systems, namely without electricity, with electricity and with an external electric field of 2 milli-Atomic unit. The obtained results indicate that adsorption energy of H

Abstract Background: Orbital floor fracture is common in facial trauma patients. Although treated through surgical repair, the orbital floor fractures are associated with risk of persisting sensibility disorders, enophthalmos, and permanent diplopia due to complex anatomy of the orbit, time of surgery, and the reconstructive material used for such repairing.Failure of early recognition and treatment of these traumatic injuries may result in functional and cosmetic problems. Autogenous bone grafts are the gold standard for reconstruction of maxillofacial defects. The iliac crest is also considered the most ideal donor site for bone grafting when a large amount of bone is needed.
Objective: To assess the outcome of early repair of orbital floor fractures regarding enophthalmos, double vision, extrusion, and gait disturbance.
Patients and methods: A total of 15 patients, all with orbital floor fracture, were enrolled, of which 12 of them were having pure blow-out fractures and 3 patients had impure blow-out fractures. All had undergone primary surgical reconstruction of the orbital floor by autogenous anterior iliac crest within 5-14 days of the injury.
Results: The results were as follows: Postoperative complications at recipient site included diplopia (13.3%), enophthalmos (6.7%), and extrusion (6.7%). At the donor site, one patient had pain and the other had gait disturbances, both relieved within 1 month after treatment.
Conclusions: Less complications were reported postoperatively with the use of nonvascularized autogenous iliac bone graft.

Abstract Background: The role of tonsillectomy history on the course of COVID-19 infection has not been determined, including COVID-19 colonization in the tonsillar tissue and reduce the cytokine activity of palatine tonsil tissue and the immune response of humoral with cellular immune. Objective: To determine the effect of tonsillectomy in the development of COVID-19 infection. Patients and Methods: It was collected 150 cases diagnosed with COVID-19 and they admitted to Diyala Hospitals. Data including age, gender, smokers, and symptom status were collected. Results: The total number of the patients who were positive COVID-19 was 150, the 102 (68%) of them were males and 48 (32 %) were females. It was found that the highest incidence rate was noticed among non-smoking patients (114 cases) compare to smokers (36 cases) (p<0.0001). It was appeared a significant difference (p<0.0001) of the symptoms of COVID-19 patients with tonsillectomy relative to the patients without tonsillectomy history. Conclusion: Patients that infected with COVID-19 and they have a history of tonsillectomy have more systemic response including fever, chills and other symptoms compare to the patients without tonsillectomy history.

Abstract Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) remains a prominent surgical emergency among infant population, associated with a significant mortality, as well as various subsequent morbidities. Congenital heart disease (CHD) has an increased associated incidence with NEC in infant population. Recent research has provided insight into the pathophysiology of NEC in patients with CHD and how this differs from those without CHD. The deviation from normal circulatory physiology has a suggested association in the pathophysiology of NEC in CHD, which may have implications for the risk factors of NEC in infants with CHD, the effect on outcomes of NEC, and whether alternative approaches to management may need to be considered in comparison to classical NEC. This review aims to highlight studies that provide insight and awareness into the relationship between NEC and CHD, in order that clinicians may direct themselves more clearly toward optimal management for infants in this category.
