Abstract Rapid developments in organic electronics demand highly conductive and freestanding (PEDOT:PSS) films. However, the synthesis of highly conductive PEDOT:PSS films requires toxic reagents, such as high-concentration acids and bases. Herein, an eco-friendly and cost-effective strategy is reported for improving the conductivity of PEDOT:PSS films through the confinement of ice crystals. The crystallization of water swelled by the film facilitated the phase separation of PEDOT and PSS, and the excess PSS in the skin layer is effectively removed. Moreover, under the confinement effect, the carrier mobility of the film is enhanced through the formation of a well-crystallized PEDOT molecular morphology. A detailed elucidation of aggregate structure evolution in PEDOT:PSS films during annealing, solvent post-treatment, and subsequent confined crystallization is presented herein. After multiple water crystallization cycles, the conductivity of the PEDOT:PSS film increased by over 85%, achieving a maximum of 2564 ± 142 S cm

Abstract The validity of magnetotelluric time-series processing methods has been lacking reasonable testing criteria. Since the time series synthesized by existing techniques are not fully derived from a given model, they are not reliable. In this paper, we present a novel approach to synthesize magnetotelluric time series based on forward modeling and the correspondence between frequency and time domain electromagnetic fields. In this approach, we obtain the electromagnetic response of two orthogonal polarization sources for a given model by magnetotelluric forward modeling, and simulate the randomness of the polarization of the natural field source by a linear combination of the two polarization sources. Based on the correspondence between the frequency and time domain electromagnetic fields, the electromagnetic fields obtained by forward modeling in the frequency domain are transformed into the time domain, and finally the time series are synthesized. The test results on 1D and 3D models validate the effectiveness of the proposed method and the correctness of the procedure. After adding noise to the synthesized time series, we can test the performance of each method by comparing the results of the time series processing methods with the response of the given model. Therefore, the method presented in this paper can be used to construct standard magnetotelluric time series, which can be used as a carrier to construct synthetic data satisfying various noise distributions, and for the study of related methods. This method can also be used to synthesize time series of other frequency-domain electromagnetic methods.

Abstract Objective. We aimed to explore the long-term outcomes of bipolar transurethral enucleation and resection of the prostate (B-TUERP) in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods. A total of 1195 patients with BPH who underwent B-TUERP from July 2006 to June 2010 were enrolled in this retrospective study. Preoperative data, particularly urodynamic study (UDS) parameters, were collected by questionnaire and examination. Postoperative follow-up was performed at 3, 6, 12, 36, 60 and 120 months, respectively. Demographic, perioperative and functional data were analysed. International Prostate Symptom Score, quality of life and overactive bladder syndrome score (OABSS) were used to assess the functional scores. Predictors of postoperative urgency incontinence were identified by univariate analysis. Results. Long-term outcomes of functional score were significantly better than the preoperative values. All UDS variables, including maximum urinary flow rate, postvoid residual urine volume, compliance, maximum cystometric capacity (MCC), bladder outlet obstruction index, prostatic urethral pressure and detrusor pressure at maximum urinary flow rate, were all significantly improved. No one required reoperation due to recurrent BPH. The postoperative rate of transient urinary incontinence was 31.7%, while the long-term incontinence rate was 0%. Retrograde ejaculation occurred in 44.3% patients who remained sexually active after operation. Patients who had transient urge incontinence were older with preoperative higher OABSS, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and detrusor overactivity rate and lower MCC. Conclusion. B-TUERP is a safe, successful and highly effective treatment for BPH at 10-year follow-up. Increased age, OABSS, PSA level and detrusor overactivity rate are potential predictors for urge incontinence after B-TUERP.

Abstract Natural killer cells (NKs) are lymphocytes of the innate immune system that quickly respond to viruses, infections, and tumors during their short cell life cycle. However, it was recently found that NKs undergo quantitative, distributional, structural, and functional phenotypic changes during aging that suppress immune responses, which is known as immunosenescence. The aging host environment, cytokine regulation, cytomegalovirus status, and hypothalamic‒pituitary‒adrenal axis have significant effects on NK function. Different lifestyle management interventions modulate the number and cytotoxic activity of NKs, which are essential for rebuilding the immune barrier against pathogens in elderly individuals. Based on recent studies, we review the phenotypic changes of and potential threats of NKs during aging and explore the underlying mechanisms. By summarizing the effects of lifestyle management on NKs and their application prospects, we aim to provide evidence for enhancing immune system function against immune diseases in elderly individuals.

Abstract Alterations in the dynamical properties of an atomic force microscope microcantilever beam system in tapping mode can appreciably impact its measurement precision. Understanding the influence mechanism of dynamic parameter changes on the system's motion characteristics is vital to improve the accuracy of the atomic force microscope in tapping mode (AFM-TM). In this study, we categorize the mathematical model of the AFM-TM microcantilever beam system into systems 1 and 2 based on actual working conditions. Then, we analyze the alterations in the dynamic properties of both systems due to external excitation variations using bifurcation diagrams, phase trajectories, Lyapunov indices, and attraction domains. The numerical simulation results show that when the dimensionless external excitation
