    Abstract Abstract Background Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is the most recent global health emergency; early diagnosis of COVID-19 is very important for rapid clinical interventions and patient isolation; chest computed tomography (CT) plays an important role in screening, diagnosis, and evaluating the progress of the disease. According to the results of different studies, due to high severity of the disease, clinicians should be aware of the different potential risk factors associated with the fatal outcome, so chest CT severity scoring system was designed for semi-quantitative assessment of the severity of lung disease in COVID-19 patients, ranking the pulmonary involvement on 25 points severity scale according to extent of lung abnormalities; this study aims to evaluate retrospectively the relationship between age and severity of COVID-19 in both sexes based on chest CT severity scoring system. Results Age group C (40–49 year) was the commonest age group that was affected by COVID-19 by 21.3%, while the least affected group was group F (≥ 70 years) by only 6.4%. As regards COVID-RADS classification, COVID-RADS-3 was the most commonly presented at both sexes in all different age groups. Total CT severity lung score had a positive strong significant correlation with the age of the patient (r = 0.64, P < 0.001). Also, a positive strong significant correlation was observed between CT severity lung score and age in both males and females (r = 0.59, P < 0.001) and (r = 0.69, P < 0.001) respectively. Conclusion We concluded that age can be considered as a significant risk factor for the severity of COVID-19 in both sexes. Also, CT can be used as a significant diagnostic tool for the diagnosis of COVID-19 and evaluation of the progression and severity of the disease.

    Abstract Background: The long-term effects of respiratory function and related physiological characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) survivors have not yet been studied in depth.
    Objective: To examine pulmonary function, exercise capacity, and health-related quality of life among COVID-19 survivors.
    Methods: Eighty-five survivors with confirmed COVID-19 were evaluated at the end of 3 and 6 months after disease onset. The assessment included lung function, diffusing capacity, 6-min walk distance (6MWD), and health status by the 36-item Short-Form General Health Survey (SF-36) questionnaire.
    Results: Totally 85 survivors, 48 (56.5%) were men. The mean (standard deviation) age was 34.6 (9.9) years. Thirteen patients (15.2%) had medical co-morbidities the mean length of hospitalization was 18.5 (5.6) days. 25 (29.4%) required intensive care unit admission, whereas 6 (7%) of them required invasive mechanical ventilation. No significant differences were observed between lung volume parameters. At 6 months, there was a significant reduction in diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (DLCO),
    Conclusion: In discharged survivors with COVID-19, 23.5% had significant impairment of diffusion capacity abnormality of lung function. The exercise capacity and health status were considerably lower than that of a normal population after 6 months postinfection.

    Abstract Abstract Background Stress and dissatisfaction are common issues among patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). The process of IVF can be emotionally and psychologically challenging, leading to stress, anxiety, and depression in patients. This can be exacerbated by factors such as the length of infertility, the uncertainty of the outcome, and the financial burden of treatment. Additionally, the physical demands of the treatment, the side effects of medication, and the fear of failure can contribute to dissatisfaction and emotional strain in IVF patients. This pre-post intervention study design aimed to evaluate the effect of a health education program on knowledge, stress, and satisfaction among 100 infertile women undergoing IVF attending the Woman’s Health Hospital’s infertility outpatient clinic and IVF unit at Assiut University. Knowledge and stress were measured by women’s knowledge about IVF and the perceived stress scale, respectively. The satisfaction was measured using the Scale of Patient Satisfaction about IVF. Results There is a marked improvement in the knowledge of infertile women, with a significant reduction in their stress levels after the health education program. Furthermore, the satisfaction scores of the women who participated in the program improved significantly. Conclusion The health education program demonstrated a positive impact on knowledge, stress levels, and satisfaction among infertile women undergoing IVF. These findings highlight the positive impact of the program on the participants and emphasize the importance of continuous educational programs regarding IVF to improve knowledge, decrease stress levels, and increase their overall satisfaction with the treatment.

    Abstract Introduction: Pulmonary involvement is a frequent and serious rheumatoid arthritis (RA) manifestation that affects 60%-80% of patients. CXCL10 is an inflammatory chemokine that regulates different biological responses, such as chemotaxis, angiogenesis, and inflammation.
    Aim: This study aimed to identify the role of CXCL10 as a peripheral blood marker of RA-ILD and its correlation with disease activity.
    Patients and methods: This cross-sectional study included 73 patients with RA (33 with ILD and 40 without ILD). Pulmonary function tests and high-resolution computed tomography were performed. Blood samples were taken for complete blood count and blood chemistry analysis, and human interferon-inducible protein 10 (IP-10/CXCL10) level. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (version 22) was used for all statistical calculations.
    Results: The serum CXCL10 level and patient age (r=.393, p=.024), disease duration (r=.756, p<0.001), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (r=.516, p=.002), C-reactive protein (r=.539, p=.001), and rheumatoid factor (r=.663, p<.001) revealed a significant positive correlation. Furthermore, the Modified Health Assessment Questionnaire (r=-.418, p=.015) revealed a significant negative correlation. Patients with RA-ILD show significantly higher CXCL10 than those without ILD (p<.001).
    Conclusion: CXCL10 is a useful RA disease activity biomarker and is an RA-ILD-sensitive biomarker, also CXCL10 is a significant predictor for development of RA-ILD.

    Abstract Introduction: At present, chest computed tomography (CT) is accepted as a tool for assessment COVID-19 patients. However, there are few data about the relationship between initial imaging results at presentation and the presence of systemic inflamma-tory mediators and outcome in patients with COVID-19. The aim of study is to evaluate the relation of initial high resolution com-puted tomography (HRCT) chest findings to inflammatory indices and clinical course of COVID-19 patients during hospitalization.
    Material and methods: This is a retrospective cohort study carried out on 108 confirmed COVID-19 patients. Demographic, lab-oratory and radiological data were recorded from patients medical records. Based on predominant HRCT density, patients were classified into either normal, ground glass opacity (GGO) and consolidation groups. By HRCT score, patients were classified into either no infilteration, ≤ 50% infilteration and > 50% infilteration groups. Comparison between clinical and laboratory parameters were observed among the groups.
    Results: More hypoxemia, higher inflammatory indices (CRP, d-dimer, ferritin), more requirement of ventilatory support and more mortality rate were observed in consolidation group compared to GGO (p < 0.05) and in patients with HRCT score > 50% compared to ≤ 50% infilteration group (p < 0.05).
    Conclusions: Consolidation pattern and high CT chest quantitative score are associated with elevated inflammatory indices and poor outcome in COVID-19 patients. HRCT chest can be used for risk stratification of COVID-19 patients.

    Abstract DWI involves acquisition of signal of movement of water proton in cellular spaces of body (Brownian motion). It includes qualitative method either restricted or facilitated and quantitive method which is apparent diffusion coefficient value(ADC) which is related to proportion of extracellular and intracellular components of the tissue., ADC is calculated with use of at least two b value more accurate using more DWI with different b value,ADC levels is low in increased tissue cellularity, as malignancy., ADC levels is high in non-tumoral tissue alterations such as direct endoscopy oedema, radiotherapy necrosis are expected to have minimal cellularity. ADC is most accurate in the detection of malignancy versus tissue edema or radionecrosis the aim of study to assess value of ADC as regarding measuring sensitivity and specificity and accuracy to differentiate tumor recurrence from radionecrosis.     Conclusion: mp-MRI is considered as comprehensive and effective tool for determination of muscle invasion in cases of urinary bladder cancer. Also VI-RADS scoring system can accurately differentiate between invasive and non-invasive bladder cancer.
    Advances in knowledge: The VI-RADS system was recently suggested for the uniform evaluation of muscle invasion in cancer bladder by mp-MRI. In this paper, we applied this system to 50 cases to evaluate its ease and compared the results with the histopathological findings for evaluation of its accuracy.

    Abstract Abstract Background Liver volume estimation is considered as an integral part in preoperative evaluation in patients undergoing liver transplantation; computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are considered the gold standard methods for liver volume estimation, and both are reliable and valid in determination of liver volume via manual and semi-automated methods. Reliable and accurate set of three simple measurement planes using two-dimensional ultrasound for volumetric assessment of liver was determined, and predictive equation using these three simple measurements was performed, which is simple to perform and easy to calculate, in order to evaluate liver volume and validate these measurements against CT images. Our aim in this study was to evaluate the efficacy and validity of two-dimensional ultrasound in liver volume estimation compared to CT volumetry as a gold standard. Results A strong linear positive correlation with no statistical significant difference was found between 2D US and semi-automated CT volumetric, and result was r = 0.7402 and p > 0.05, with an average liver volume of 1572.10 (± 326.43) cm3 and 1559.30 (± 381.02) cm3 respectively. No statistically significant difference was found also between the two modalities in different age groups and different sexes. Conclusion Simple linear two-dimensional ultrasound could be considered an efficient, accurate, and trustable tool for liver volume measurement in clinical practice.

    Abstract Background: Hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related decompensated cirrhosis is a severe life-threatening illness. The safety of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) has opened a gate of hope for that subgroup of patients who were previously contraindicated for interferon therapy.
    Objective: We aimed at the investigation of the safety and efficacy of different DAAs regimens in the treatment of HCV-related decompensated cirrhosis patients, to determine sustained virological response (SVR)12 rates and to analyze the factors associated with response.
    Methods: A retrospective, single-center study including HCV-related decompensated cirrhosis patients who received DAAs. Demographic, laboratory and clinical data were analyzed. The SVR12 rate was the primary outcome measure. Secondary outcomes included the predictors of response, changes in the baseline model for end-stage liver disease and child-turcotte-pugh (CTP) scores, and fibroindices (APRI and fibrosis-4 index) at 12 weeks after treatment.
    Results: In total, 145 eligible patients (141 with CTP class B and 4 with class C) were enrolled in this study. SVR12 was achieved by 88.06% (118/134) of efficacy population on different DAAs regimens, Treatment was discontinued in 11 patients because of severe side effects without any deaths. Younger age showed a significant positive association with SVR12.
    Conclusions: DAAs can be used for the treatment of HCV-related decompensated liver disease, with acceptable SVR12 rates and safety profiles.
