Abstract Objective: To summarize nonpharmacological interventions and assess their effects on symptom clusters and quality of life (QoL) in breast cancer (BC) survivors.
Methods: Seven English and three Chinese electronic databases and three clinical trial registries were searched from January 2001 to August 2023. A narrative approach was applied to summarize the data. The primary outcome was symptom clusters measured by any patient-reported questionnaires, and the secondary outcomes were QoL and intervention-related adverse events.
Results: Six published articles, one thesis, and one ongoing trial involving 625 BC survivors were included. The fatigue-sleep disturbance-depression symptom cluster was the most frequently reported symptom cluster among BC survivors. The nonpharmacological interventions were potentially positive on symptom clusters and QoL among the BC survivors. However, some of the included studies exhibited methodological concerns (e.g., inadequate blinding and allocation concealment). The intervention protocols in only two studies were developed following a solid evidence-based approach. Adverse events related to the targeted interventions were reported in six included studies, with none performing a causality analysis.
Conclusions: The nonpharmacological interventions could be promising strategies for alleviating symptom clusters in BC survivors. Future studies should adopt rigorously designed, randomized controlled trials to generate robust evidence.

Abstract In the face of climate-related challenges in agriculture, Japan's 'Direct Payment for Environmentally Friendly Farming' policy stands as a proactive effort to incentivize sustainable practices among smallholder farmers. This study evaluates the policy's impact on smallholder farmers' net farm income within the Tohoku Region, employing a propensity score matching (PSM) methodology to analyze survey data encompassing household-specific attributes and engagement with the policy. Our results indicate that participation in the direct payment scheme enhances farmer income, averting an estimated reduction of 125 thousand JPY per annum. While direct payments demonstrated a positive effect on smallholder income, our findings surprisingly revealed that skill training, a key non-financial support, had a negligible impact on household earnings. The findings highlight the policy's efficacy in promoting practices that decrease reliance on chemical inputs and increase organic farming, thereby contributing to carbon emissions mitigation. Notably, our analysis suggests that subsidies directed towards integrating renewable energy on farms may have a less immediate financial impact compared to other forms of support. This research underscores the complex interplay between agricultural subsidies, environmental sustainability, and farmer income, revealing that direct financial incentives are pivotal in fostering climate-conscious agricultural practices among smallholders.

Abstract Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death around the world. Most CVDs-related death can be prevented by the optimal management of risk factors such as unhealthy diet and physical inactivity. Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for CVDs, provide some evidence-based recommendations which help healthcare professionals to achieve the best care for patients with CVDs. This systematic review aims to appraise the methodological quality of CPGs systematically and summarize the recommendations of self-managed non-pharmacological interventions for the prevention and management of CVDs provided by the selected guidelines.
Methods: A comprehensive electronic literature search was conducted via six databases (PubMed, Medline, The Cochrane Library, Embase, CINAHL, and Web of Science), seven professional heart association websites, and nine guideline repositories. The Appraisal of Guidelines, Research and Evaluation II (AGREE II) instrument was adopted to critically appraise the methodological quality of the selected guidelines. Content analysis was used to summarise recommended self-managed non-pharmacological interventions for CVDs.
Results: Twenty-three CPGs regarding different CVDs were included, in which four guidelines of CVDs, three for coronary heart diseases, seven for heart failure, two for atrial fibrillation, three for stroke, three for peripheral arterial disease, and one for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Twenty CPGs were appraised as high quality, and three CPGs as moderate quality. All twenty-three CPGs were recommended for use with or without modification. The domain of "Editorial Independence" had the highest standardized percentage (93.47%), whereas the domain of "Applicability" had the lowest mean domain score of 75.41%. The content analysis findings summarised some common self-managed non-pharmacological interventions, which include healthy diet, physical activity, smoking cessation, alcohol control, and weight management. Healthy diet and physical acidity are the most common and agreed on self-managed interventions for patients with CVDs. There are some inconsistencies identified in the details of recommended interventions, the intervention itself, the grade of recommendation, and the supported level of evidence.
Conclusion: The majority of the summarized non-pharmacological interventions were strongly recommended with moderate to high-quality levels of evidence. Healthcare professionals and researchers can adopt the results of this review to design self-managed non-pharmacological interventions for patients with CVDs.

Abstract 3-amino-5-methyl-isoxazole (3A5MI) is a persistent and harmful intermediate in the degradation of antibiotic sulfamethoxazole. It was accumulated in the environments day by day and has caused great environmental risks due to its refractory characteristic. Microbial degradation is economic and environmentally friendly and a promising method to eliminate this pollutant. In this study, a bacterial strain, Nocardioides sp. N39, was isolated. N39 can grow on 3A5MI as the sole carbon, nitrogen and energy resource. The effect of different factors on 3A5MI degradation by N39 was explored, including initial 3A5MI concentration, temperature, pH value, dissolved oxygen and additional carbon or nitrogen source. The degradation ability of N39 to various 3A5MI analogs was also explored. Nevertheless, the degrading ability of N39 for 3A5MI is not permanent, and long-term storage would lead to the loss of this ability. This may result from the mobile genetic elements in the bacterium according to the genomic comparison of N39 and its degrading ability-lost strain, N40. Despite this, N39 could support a lot of useful information about the degradation of 3A5MI and highlight the importance of studies about the environmental effects and potential degradation mechanism.

Abstract Background: The prevalence of prolonged grief disorder (PGD) and its symptoms among the bereaved population in China vary considerably.
Aims: This meta-analysis aims to estimate the prevalence of PGD and its symptoms among bereaved individuals in China.
Methods: We conducted a literature search in major Chinese and English databases from their inception to 4 October 2023, for cross-sectional studies on the prevalence of PGD or its symptoms in bereaved Chinese individuals. The risk of bias of the included studies and certainty of the evidence were assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist for Studies Reporting Prevalence Data ('JBI checklist') and the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations (GRADE), respectively. The 'metaprop' package in R V.4.1.2 was used to synthesise the prevalence.
Results: A total of 28 studies involving 10 994 bereaved individuals were included in the analysis, with JBI checklist scores between 3 and 7. The combined prevalence (95% confidence interval) of PGD and its symptoms was 8.9% (4.2% to 17.6%) and 32.4% (18.2% to 50.8%), respectively. PGD and its symptoms were most prevalent among those who had lost their only child (22.7%) and those bereaved by earthquakes (80.4%), respectively. The GRADE system assigned a very low certainty level to the evidence for the pooled prevalence of PGD and its symptoms.
Conclusions: The pooled prevalence of PGD and its symptoms indicate a potential high need for grief counselling services among bereaved individuals in China. This need is particularly pronounced in those who have lost their only child and those bereaved due to earthquakes. Further methodologically rigorous studies are needed to provide more accurate prevalence estimates.

Abstract Piezocatalysis, a heterogeneous catalytic technique, leverages the periodic electric field changes generated by piezoelectric materials under external forces to drive carriers for the advanced oxidation of organic pollutants. Antibiotics, as emerging trace organic pollutants in water sources, pose a potential threat to animals and drinking water safety. Thus, piezoelectric catalysis can be used to degrade trace organic pollutants in water. In this work, BaTiO
