Title translation Evaluation of the colonic endoscopic polypectomy in patients of the National Carlos Alberto Seguín Escobedo Hospital ESSALUD of Arequipa (1999-2004).
Abstract The investigation was performed in the Carlos Alberto Seguín Escobedo National Hospital of Essalud-Arequipa, in 194 patients that were submitted to Colonic Endoscopic Polypectomy from January of 1999 to December of 2004. This study is observational, retrospective and transverse. The clinical histories, endoscopies reports and pathological anatomy reports were reviewed, taking the personal data, clinical symptoms, endoscopic and pathologic characteristics of the polyps; colonoscopies associate findings; surgical technique of polypectomies, complications and complementary treatment of post-polypectomy. The colonic endoscopic polypectomy was performed in 194 patients from 1380 colonoscopies (14.05 %), with more frequency in the sixth decade of life, and corresponding most to the masculine sex. Most of the patients did not have previous symptoms, and of those who had clinical manifestations the more frequent were the bleeding lost and changes in the intestinal rhythm. The polyps endoscopic characteristics found that the sessile were the more frequent and were located in rectum--sigmoid zone. The preponderant size was from 5 to 10mm, and mostly unique. The histopathology type of the polyps was adenoma, frequently with some grade of dysplasia. The surgical techniques for the colonic endoscopy polypectomy were with cold pincer and electric cut. The complications were rare. The complementary treatment after polypectomy was injectotherapy and surgery. Finally, our results were discussed and compared with other similar studies, and then we elaborated the conclusions and recommendations, with whom we expect to contribute to a better knowledge of the Colonic Endoscopy Polypectomy in our country.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic forced almost all professional football matches worlwide to be played in empty stadiums. This large-scale natural experiment offers a unique opportunity to assess the impact of social pressure on decision making and behavior. In particular, I investigate the effect of the home crowd on match outcomes and referee decisions. Using a large dataset from 41 professional football leagues in 30 different countries, I find that the home advantage in match outcomes drops by around one half and that referee bias against away teams completely disappears following the lockdowns. My results therefore suggest that social pressure exerted by home crowds has an important effect on the behavior of referees and on game outcomes.

Abstract Fingertip injuries are among the most common injuries of the hand. Although numerous treatment methods have been described in detail in the literature, there are a few alternatives that require exploration. We analyzed 24 patients who underwent one-stage artificial dermis (Pelnac®) reconstruction surgery between 2012 and 2016 to assess the effectiveness of this alternative reconstruction method for extensive fingertip injury with exposed phalanx. There were 16 males and 8 females, with ages ranging from 2 to 75 years. There were 16 type III injuries, 6 type IV, and 2 type II on the Allen classification. Complete epithelialization was achieved by the 4th week in 19 cases and by the 6th week in 5. The wounds of all patients healed completely, without infection. All the injured fingers developed various levels of hooked nail and length shortening except for the 2 type II injuries. There was nail spicule formation in 1 case. There were no cases of cold intolerance, but 2 cases of hypersensitivity and 5 of numbness. Overall 2-point discrimination ceased improving by the 2nd postoperative year. This technique is simple, allows spontaneous healing of the fingertips, and is mostly free from the major complications associated with other treatment methods.

Abstract The effect of recombinant somatotropin (rbST) application in cattle has been demonstrated in temperate climate but very limited studies are available in tropical regions. The objective of this study was to compare the effect of the application of two different formulations of rbST on the milk yield and body condition of dairy cattle in a commercial herd under intensive production in Peru. We evaluated the application of 500 mg of active rbST in a zinc sesame oil (ZSO-rbST; n = 44) or vitamin E lecithin (VEL-rbST; n = 45) vehicle while control cows (n = 42) did not receive any application. The application of rbST was performed by every 14 days for 12 cycles, for a total of 168 days. The application of rbST increased the milk production of primiparous and multiparous cows by 3 and 3.2 kg/day for the VEL-rbST formulation respectively when compared with control cows (p < 0.01) and no difference in milk production was observed between the ZSO-rbST formulation and the control group (p > 0.05). However, no significant difference on milk production was observed between the rbST formulations evaluated. The effect of rbST per injection cycle indicated differences in milk production and economic return for the 12 cycles between rbST and control in primiparous group, while in multiparous, no differences were found between ZSO-rbST and control (p > 0.05), but differences were observed between VEL-rbST and control in 41% of the cycles (p < 0.05). No differences in body condition were found between the two rbST formulations and the control group during the evaluation. In conclusion, the application of rbST promoted higher milk production of cattle which had a positive impact on the economic income of the farmer.

Abstract Nowadays, the use of renewable, green/eco-friendly technologies is attracting the attention of researchers, with a view to overcoming recent challenges that must be faced to guarantee the availability of Electric Vehicles (EVs). Therefore, this work proposes a methodology based on Genetic Algorithms (GA) and multivariate regression for estimating and modeling the State of Charge (SOC) in Electric Vehicles. Indeed, the proposal considers the continuous monitoring of six load-related variables that have an influence on the SOC (State of Charge), specifically, the vehicle acceleration, vehicle speed, battery bank temperature, motor RPM, motor current, and motor temperature. Thus, these measurements are evaluated in a structure comprised of a Genetic Algorithm and a multivariate regression model in order to find those relevant signals that better model the State of Charge, as well as the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). The proposed approach is validated under a real set of data acquired from a self-assembly Electric Vehicle, and the obtained results show a maximum accuracy of approximately 95.5%; thus, this proposed method can be applied as a reliable diagnostic tool in the automotive industry.

Abstract Introduction: Stress is characterized as a challenging occurrence that triggers a physiological and/or behavioral allostatic response, alongside the demands typically encountered throughout the natural course of life. A sustained state of stress gives rise to secondary effects, including insomnia and neck pain. Also, the risk of musculoskeletal problems in the cervical and lumbar spine can be increased due to a sustained state of stress. The present study main objective is to study the association between orofacial and pelvic floor muscles in women in Spain.
Methodology: An observational, cross-sectional, retrospective analytical study was designed and carried out in the laboratories of the European University of Madrid. Sixty-five participants were recruited with a mean age of 29.9 ± 7.69. Measurements were taken by myotonometry on natural oscillation frequency (Hz), dynamic stiffness (N/m), elasticity (N/m2), mechanical stress relaxation time (ms) and creep, for the following muscles: right and left masseter, right and left temporalis and central fibrous nucleus of the perineum (CFPF). On the other hand, the subjects completed the following questionnaires: perceived stress scale (PSS-14), anxiety scale (STAI), self-reported bruxism questionnaire (CBA), Fonseca Anamnestic Index and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale (PSQI).
Results: Significant correlations were found in several parameters between the right temporalis and CFPF (p<0.05). Highlighting the correlation between TMDs and lubrication r = -0.254 (p = 0.041) and bruxism with pain in sexual intercourse r = 0.261 (p = 0.036).
Conclusion: The results support the proposed hypothesis. To the author's knowledge, this is the first study which relates both locations, and it is suggested to continue with the research and expand the knowledge of it.

Abstract A circulation index (ID) has been formulated as the quotient between the number of research papera covered in a given period t by N indexing and abstracting services and the number of papers published in the same period N times. O < ID < l. This index has been applied to the analysis of international circulation of Spanish biomedical research journals and subject fields through MEDLARS, EMBASE, BIOSIS and SCISEARCH in the 1980-1986 period. From a total of 48,747 papera published, 36,286 han been covered by one or more of the services analyzed. That leads to an overall ID of 0.19 in the period . ID has diminished from 0.23 in 1980 to 0.18 in 1986. So, on the average, only the fifth part of research papers published by Sanish biomedical journals have reached some international circulation through the servicea analyzed. These figures don't apply to all journals nor research areas studied. Eight publicationa have ID > 0.60 and four of them ID > 0.70, Physiology and Pharmacology /Toxicology being the most circulating research fields. Ten journals have no circulation at all in the period. The appearance of a title in the list of publication covered by abstracting and indexing services doesn't guarantee the circulation of papera published. Influence of idiomatic factors and appearance of new journals in a research field remain as subjects for further analysis.
