Abstract The present preliminary investigation was designed to identify biomarkers in the progression of pancreatitis in Chinese patients with acute pancreatitis. Chinese patients aged <60 years with a confirmed diagnosis of acute pancreatitis were enrolled. A saliva sample was collected using salimetrics oral swab in precooled polypropylene tubes to prevent degradation of sensitive peptides. All samples were then centrifuged at 700 × g for 15 min at 4

Abstract The residual magnetic field in a magnetic shielding device with a multilayer high permeability material (permalloy) structure can be obtained at the nanotesla (nT) level or even lower. At present, in the process of designing a magnetic shielding device, most of the external environmental magnetic field settings are set at the size of the Earth’s environmental magnetic field, but the instruments inside the magnetic shielding device need to be powered, the active compensation coil needs to be powered, and the degaussing coil of passive shielding layer needs to be powered, so substations need to be used around magnetic shielding devices. The magnetic field generated by the substation will affect the magnetic shielding device, so this paper analyzes and measures the magnetic field generated by the substation. Firstly, the finite element model of a substation is established, and the influence of different substations on the environmental magnetic field is analyzed by changing the power. Secondly, the test method of a substation environment magnetic field is determined. Finally, the site test was carried out to measure the influence of different power substations and different distances on the magnetic field, and its influence on the magnetic shielding device was analyzed, which provided an important basis for the construction of the magnetic shielding device.

Abstract Introduction Infertility is a focal issue in public health and affects human reproduction and survival. Notably, an increasing number of studies in recent decades have found that sperm DNA integrity plays a critical role in the development of healthy embryos. Among the multiple pathogenic factors of sperm DNA fragmentation, oxidative stress has proven to be predominant. Coenzyme Q10 supplementation, which has been used for the treatment of male infertility, has shown good clinical efficacy due to its oxidation resistance, but its efficacy as measured by the sperm DNA fragmentation index remains controversial. To address this issue, we will perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of coenzyme Q10 for male infertility patients with a high sperm DNA fragmentation index. Methods and analysis The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Studies and Web of Science databases will be comprehensively searched from inception to 31 December 2022 to identify relevant studies published in the English language using appropriate search strategies. The search terms will be derived from the following concepts: sperm DNA fragmentation, coenzyme Q10 and randomised controlled trials. Two review stages, that is, title and abstract screening and full-text screening, will be performed by two reviewers. The risk of bias, publication bias and evidence grade of the included studies will be assessed using a standardised protocol. Data will be used to calculate effect sizes. Heterogeneity among the studies will be evaluated graphically. Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis will be performed if necessary to validate the results.Ethics and dissemination No ethical approval will be needed, as there will be no participants in this study. We will follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines to disseminate the findings through publication and conference presentation.PROSPERO registration number CRD42022293340.

Abstract High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive interventional radiology technology, which has been generally accepted in clinical practice for the treatment of benign and malignant tumors. HIFU can cause targeted tissue coagulative necrosis and protein denaturation by thermal or non-thermal effects, guided by diagnostic ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging, without destruction of the normal adjacent tissue, under sedation or general anesthesia. HIFU has become an important alternative to standard treatments of solid tumors, including surgery, radiation, and medications. The aim of this review is to describe the development, principle, devices, and clinical applications of HIFU.

Abstract Electromembrane extraction (EME) is a miniaturized extraction technique that has been widely used in recent years for the analysis and removal of pollutants in the environment. It is based on electrokinetic migration across a supported liquid membrane (SLM) under the influence of an external electrical field between two aqueous compartments. Based on the features of the SLM and the electrical field, EME offers quick extraction, effective sample clean-up, and good selectivity, and limits the amount of organic solvent used per sample to a few microliters. In this paper, the basic devices (membrane materials and types of organic solvents) and influencing factors of EME are first introduced, and the applications of EME in the analysis and removal of environmental inorganic ions and organic pollutants are systematically reviewed. An outlook on the future development of EME for environmental applications is also given.

Abstract The toxicity of 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is generally believed to be mediated by aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), but some evidence suggests that the effects of TCDD can also be produced through AhR-independent mechanisms. In previous experiments, we found that mainly AhR-dependent mechanism was involved in the migration inhibition of glioblastoma U87 cells by TCDD. Due to the heterogeneity of glioblastomas, not all tumor cells have significant AhR expression. The effects and mechanisms of TCDD on the migration of glioblastomas with low AhR expression are still unclear. We employed a glioblastoma cell line A172 with low AhR expression as a model, using wound healing and Transwell® assay to detect the effect of TCDD on cell migration. We found that TCDD can inhibit the migration of A172 cells without activating AhR signaling pathway. Further, after being pre-treated with AhR antagonist CH223191, the inhibition of TCDD on A172 cells migration was not changed, indicating that the effect of TCDD on A172 cells is not dependent on AhR activation. By transcriptome sequencing analysis, we propose dysregulation of the expression of certain migration-related genes, such as IL6, IL1B, CXCL8, FOS, SYK, and PTGS2 involved in cytokines, MAPK, NF-κB, and IL-17 signaling pathways, as potential AhR-independent mechanisms that mediate the inhibition of TCDD migration in A172 cells.
