Abstract The flexibility of choosing the ad action as a function of the consumer state is critical for modern-day marketing campaigns. We study the problem of identifying the optimal sequential personalized interventions that maximize the adoption probability for a new product. We model consumer behavior by a conversion funnel that captures the state of each consumer (e.g., interaction history with the firm) and allows the consumer behavior to vary as a function of both her state and firm's sequential interventions. We show our model captures consumer behavior with very high accuracy (out-of-sample AUC of over 0.95) in a real-world email marketing dataset. However, it results in a very large-scale learning problem, where the firm must learn the state-specific effects of various interventions from consumer interactions. We propose a novel attribution-based decision-making algorithm for this problem that we call model-free approximate Bayesian learning. Our algorithm inherits the interpretability and scalability of Thompson sampling for bandits and maintains an approximate belief over the value of each state-specific intervention. The belief is updated as the algorithm interacts with the consumers. Despite being an approximation to the Bayes update, we prove the asymptotic optimality of our algorithm and analyze its convergence rate. We show that our algorithm significantly outperforms traditional approaches on extensive simulations calibrated to a real-world email marketing dataset.

Abstract AbstractIntroduction: Military soldiers comprised 1,195 million United States active-duty members and 778,000 reserve members in 9/2021. Soldiers are often exposed to drastic climates, environments, and living conditions which may make them more susceptible to cutaneous diseases. Methods: A PubMed search of studies published between 1/1/2002 – 8/30/2022, using MeSH terms: ((("Military Personnel"[Majr]) OR "Military Hygiene"[Majr])) OR "Military Medicine"[Majr]) AND "Skin Diseases"[Majr]), the reference lists of select articles, and other applicable sources were reviewed to identify articles on skin conditions affecting military soldiers and treatment options.Discussion: In this article, we review skin conditions that affect military soldiers in both the deployed and non-deployed settings including infectious diseases, arthropod associated diseases, sexually transmitted infections, ultraviolet radiation related skin disease, acne, diseases of hair and hair follicles, dermatitis, onychocryptosis, and conditions caused by extreme weather conditions and occupational exposures. We also discuss treatment options and prevention methods as they relate to military settings. Conclusion: Dermatological conditions can considerably impact soldiers’ wellbeing and military performance, often lead to evacuation of military personnel, and are associated with high financial costs. Cutaneous disease is one of most common reasons for soldiers to seek medical care and may cause significant morbidity. Serving in the military often impacts and limits treatment options.

Abstract Background: To assess the prevalence of psychiatric morbidity and stress burden among the patients with limb fractures and compare them with age and gender matched control group.
Materials and methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted on 25 patients each of lower and upper limb fractures, presenting 2 weeks or more after the fracture to orthopedics OPD of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. Psychiatric manifestations and stress burden were assessed using Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I.), perceived stress scale (PSS), and impact of event scale-revised (IES-R) on the patients. It was compared to an equal number of age and gender matched normal control group.
Results: Majority of the patients with limb fractures were male (70%). The upper limb fracture was in age group of 18-30 years (52%), and those with lower limb fracture were >50 years of age (48%). Most common psychiatric morbidity seen in patients was major depressive disorder (52%) which was statistically significant in comparison with control group. The impact of trauma on patients resulted in avoidance and hyperarousal symptoms significantly in lower limb fracture patients than upper limb ones (
Conclusions: The long bone injuries in patient cause significant psychiatric morbidity which increases the stress burden in such patients due to immobility and pain.

Abstract Background: To assess the outcome of osteoarthritis among patients undergoing total knee replacement (TKR).
Materials and methods: One hundred and four subjects with one hundred and fifty-two cemented total knee arthroplasties have been analyzed in the current research. Functional assessment was carried out using the preoperative and postoperative Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) score and its five subscales: pain, other symptoms, function in activity of daily living (ADL), function in sport and recreation (Sport/Rec), and knee-related quality of life (QOL).
Results: A significant improvement in the KOOS symptom score was seen with score grade changing to excellent from poor. The average postoperative KOOS symptom score occurred to be 89.9198, whereas the mean preoperative KOOS score was 30.7960 with a mean difference of 59.02385. The mean postoperative KOOS pain score was 94.6304 and the mean preoperative KOOS score was 18.4831 with a mean difference of 76.14731. A significant improvement in the KOOS pain score was seen with score grade changing to excellent from poor. Sixty patients of 104 (57.7%) had an excellent satisfaction level with a postoperative range of motion, twenty-eight patients (26.9%) had a good, eleven patients (10.6%) had a fair, and five patients (4.8%) had a poor satisfaction level with a postoperative range of motion.
Conclusion: Surgery for a TKR is successful in reducing individuals' pain and restoring their functional ability. Preoperative expectations and KOOS subscale scores are factors in patients' satisfaction, which is determined a year following surgery.

Abstract Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease worldwide. Disease spectrum varies from steatosis, steatohepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Currently, there are no approved medical therapies, and weight loss through lifestyle modifications remains a mainstay of therapy. Bariatric surgery is the most effective therapy for weight loss and has been shown to improve liver histology. Recently, endoscopic bariatric metabolic therapies have also emerged as effective treatments for patients with obesity and NAFLD. This review summarizes the role of bariatric surgery and endoscopic therapies in the management of patients with NAFLD.
