Abstract Ergometrine (6aR,9R)-N-((S)-1-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-7-methyl-4,6,6a,7,8,9-hexa-hydro-indolo-[4,3-fg]chinolin-9-carboxamide or lysergide acid β-ethanolamide or ergonovine) activates several types of serotonin and histamine receptors in the animal heart. We thus examined whether ergometrine can activate human serotonin 5-HT

  5. Article: Function and Role of Histamine H

Neumann, Joachim / Hofmann, Britt / Kirchhefer, Uwe / Dhein, Stefan / Gergs, Ulrich

    Pharmaceuticals (Basel, Switzerland)

    2023  Volume 16, Issue 5

Abstract: ... at least four heptahelical receptors: H ...

Abstract Histamine can change the force of cardiac contraction and alter the beating rate in mammals, including humans. However, striking species and regional differences have been observed. Depending on the species and the cardiac region (atrium versus ventricle) studied, the contractile, chronotropic, dromotropic, and bathmotropic effects of histamine vary. Histamine is present and is produced in the mammalian heart. Thus, histamine may exert autocrine or paracrine effects in the mammalian heart. Histamine uses at least four heptahelical receptors: H
