Abstract Introduction: Synovial chondromatosis is a rare non- malignant bone tumor. Most commonly middle aged people are affected . This condition most commonly occurs in knee joints, and rarely, it may occur in other joints. Patient usually complaints of pain, swelling and restrictions of movements at the affected joint. Diagnosis is made through thorough clinical examination and Radiological investigation. Condition is treated with open synovectomy with the removal of loose bodies. If not treated in time the patient might develop early osteoarthritic changes and rarely develop into malignancy in few cases.
Case report: A 43 year old female came with complaints of pain and stiffness over the right elbow which aggravates on movements without alleged history of trauma. The patient was diagnosed with synovial chondromatosis after appropriate radiological investigation. The patient underwent open synovectomy and post operatively adequate physiotherapy was initiated at the operated elbow. After 6 months of follow-up, the patient improved clinically and functionally.
Conclusion: Synovial chondromatosis of the elbow is a rare benign orthopedic condition that appears as multiple hyaline cartilage nodules within sub synovial connective tissue. Complete excision of synovium is necessary to prevent the recurrence and for better clinical outcome.

Abstract Very low birth weight (VLBW) infants comprise between 4% and 8% of live-births and about one-third of deaths during the neonatal period. The objective of the study is to evaluate and compare the long-term growth outcomes of VLBW infants among two different birth cohorts: Cohort 2007-08 (cohort 1) and cohort 2015-16 (cohort 2), in a cross-sectional observational study. The neonatal and perinatal data of cohort 1 was collected from available trial data and the same data from cohort 2 was collected from patient case files and patient history. The primary outcome of the study was to compare the growth outcomes of VLBW infants attending the follow-up clinic between 12 and 18 months of corrected age from two different birth cohorts. Respectively, 238 and 268 infants were eligible for inclusion in cohort 1 and 2. Among the eligible infants, 148 infants in cohort 1 and 178 infants in cohort 2 were available for primary outcome assessment during the recruitment phase. The weight and length at corrected age (12 to 18 months) is significantly higher in cohort 2 compared to that in cohorts 1 although the mean age at assessment is similar between the two groups. There is a significant reduction in the incidence of underweight in infants that belonged to cohort 2. The proportions of infants who are underweight at follow-up were significantly lower in cohort 2 when compared to cohort 1, and there were no significant differences in the incidence of stunting and microcephaly among both the cohorts.

Abstract Cryptogenic organising pneumonia (COP) is a form of idiopathic diffuse interstitial lung disease (ILD) that develops in response to a variety of unknown irritants. An essential component of the development of organising pneumonia (OP) is damage to type II pneumocytes and the alveolar basement membrane. An autoimmune illness called systemic sclerosis (SSc) has a significant death rate from cardiopulmonary involvement such as pulmonary hypertension and ILD. Arthritis is an autoimmune disorder, in which the patients experience extra-articular symptoms such as ILD during the course of their disease, and COP frequently coexists with these conditions. It is exceedingly uncommon for OP to occur as the initial sign of arthritis, and its clinical characteristics are still unclear. Scleroderma and inflammatory polyarthritis related to COP are presented in this report.

Abstract Bacterial reduction of hexavalent chromium (VI) to chromium (III) is a sustainable bioremediation approach. However, the Cr(VI) containing wastewaters are often characterized with complex conditions such as high salt, alkaline pH and heavy metals which severely impact the growth and Cr(VI) reduction potential of microorganisms. This study investigated Cr(VI) reduction under complex haloalkaline conditions by an Alteromonas sp. ORB2 isolated from aerobic granular sludge cultivated from the seawater-microbiome. Optimum growth of Alteromonas sp. ORB2 was observed under haloalkaline conditions at 3.5-9.5% NaCl and pH 7-11. The bacterial growth in normal culture conditions (3.5% NaCl; pH 7.6) was not inhibited by 100 mg/l Cr(VI)/ As(V)/ Pb(II), 50 mg/l Cu(II) or 5 mg/l Cd(II). Near complete reduction of 100 mg/l Cr(VI) was achieved within 24 h at 3.5-7.5% NaCl and pH 8-11. Cr(VI) reduction by Alteromonas sp. ORB2 was not inhibited by 100 mg/L As(V), 100 mg/L Pb(II), 50 mg/L Cu(II) or 5 mg/L Cd(II). The bacterial cells grew in the medium with 100 mg/l Cr(VI) contained lower esterase activity and higher reactive oxygen species levels indicating toxicity and oxidative stress. In-spite of toxicity, the cells grew and reduced 100 mg/l Cr(VI) completely within 24 h. Cr(VI) removal from the medium was driven by bacterial reduction to Cr(III) which remained in the complex medium. Cr(VI) reduction was strongly linked to aerobic growth of Alteromonas sp. The Cr(VI) reductase activity of cytosolic protein fraction was pronounced by supplementing with NADPH in vitro assays. This study demonstrated a growth-dependent aerobic Cr(VI) reduction by Alteromonas sp. ORB2 under complex haloalkaline conditions akin to wastewaters.

Abstract Water is a valuable resource, but not all communities can afford to use it liberally. It is now crucial to use the water that is available as effectively as possible, particularly in agriculture. An unattended ground moisture sensor can be used to monitor the present moisture level in the soil surrounding the plants in order to decrease overwatering of crops. So, a farmer will be able to decide when to water and when to stop. The user should receive the moisture data information wirelessly for convenience. It is detailed how to develop a wireless communication and user interface system for an unattended ground moisture sensor. The Wheat stone bridge for determining il is followed by a differential amplifier in the resistance of the sensor design. Transforming the resistance that was measured into a voltage. This is carried out because resistance and moisture are correlated. A Lora communication transmitting node sends this voltage together with a Lora communication receiving node, where a microcontroller interprets it as moisture data. The receiving node then transmits the data to a PC host so the user can access it. a power circuit that uses a linear regulator and a battery.

Abstract Chronic hyperglycemia-induced neuropathological changes include neuronal apoptosis, astrogliosis, decrease in neurotrophic support, impaired synaptic plasticity, and impaired protein quality control (PQC) system. Vitamin B12 is indispensable for neuronal development and brain function. Several studies reported the neuroprotective effect of B12 supplementation in diabetic patients. However, the underlying molecular basis for the neuroprotective effect of B12 supplementation in diabetes needs to be thoroughly investigated. Two-month-old Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned into three groups: Control (CN), diabetes (D; induced with streptozotocin; STZ), and diabetic rats supplemented with vitamin B12 (DBS; vitamin B12; 50 μg/kg) for four months. At the end of 4 months of experimentation, the brain was dissected to collect the cerebral cortex (CC). The morphology of CC was investigated with H&E and Nissl body staining. Neuronal apoptosis was determined with TUNEL assay. The components of neurotrophic support, astrogliosis, synaptic plasticity, and PQC processes were investigated by immunoblotting and immunostaining methods. H& E, Nissl body, and TUNEL staining revealed that diabetes-induced neuronal apoptosis and degeneration. However, B12 supplementation ameliorated the diabetes-induced neuronal apoptosis. Further, B12 supplementation restored the markers of neurotrophic support (BDNF, NGF, and GDNF), and synaptic plasticity (SYP, and PSD-95) in diabetic rats. Interestingly, B12 supplementation also attenuated astrogliosis, ER stress, and ameliorated autophagy-related proteins in diabetic rats. Overall, these findings suggest that B12 acts as a neuroprotective agent by inhibiting the neuropathological changes in STZ-induced type 1 diabetes. Thus, B12 supplementation could produce beneficial outcomes including neuroprotective effects in diabetic patients.

Abstract Background: Gender and geographic access to care play a large role in health disparities in esophageal cancer care. The aim of our study was to evaluate disparities in peri-operative outcomes for patients undergoing esophagectomy based on gender and geographic location.
Methods: A retrospective cohort of prospectively collected data from patients who underwent esophagectomy from 2003 to 2022 was identified and analyzed based on gender and county, which were aggregated into existing state-level "metropolitan" versus "rural" designations. The demographics, pre-operative treatment, surgical complications, post-operative outcomes, and length of stay (LOS) of each group were analyzed using chi-squared, paired
Results: Of the 1545 patients, men (83.6%) and women (16.4%) experienced similar rates of post-operative complications, but women experienced significantly longer hospital (
Conclusions: Rural female patients undergoing esophagectomy were more likely to have a longer inpatient recovery process compared with their female metropolitan or male counterparts, suggesting a need for more targeted interventions in this population.
