Abstract In recent years, the development of robots that can engage in non-task-oriented dialogue with people, such as chat, has received increasing attention. This study aims to clarify the factors that improve the user's willingness to talk with robots in non-task oriented dialogues (e.g., chat). A previous study reported that exchanging subjective opinions makes such dialogue enjoyable and enthusiastic. In some cases, however, the robot's subjective opinions are not realistic, i.e., the user believes the robot does not have opinions, thus we cannot attribute the opinion to the robot. For example, if a robot says that alcohol tastes good, it may be difficult to imagine the robot having such an opinion. In this case, the user's motivation to exchange opinions may decrease. In this study, we hypothesize that regardless of the type of robot, opinion attribution affects the user's motivation to exchange opinions with humanoid robots. We examined the effect by preparing various opinions of two kinds of humanoid robots. The experimental result suggests that not only the users' interest in the topic but also the attribution of the subjective opinions to them influence their motivation to exchange opinions. Another analysis revealed that the android significantly increased the motivation when they are interested in the topic and do not attribute opinions, while the small robot significantly increased it when not interested and attributed opinions. In situations where there are opinions that cannot be attributed to humanoid robots, the result that androids are more motivating when users have the interests even if opinions are not attributed can indicate the usefulness of androids.

Abstract A 62-year-old woman presented with chronic cough. Chest CT showed multiple nodules and consolidation. Bronchoscopy could not confirm a specific diagnosis. Because her symptoms and lung opacities improved spontaneously, she was followed without treatment. Seven months later, chest radiography showed worsening of consolidation and a tumorous shadow. After performing cervical lymph node and lung tissue biopsies, we diagnosed her as having angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL). Cases of AITL showing migration of lung shadows have not been reported. AITL development is influenced by immunodeficiency and reactivation of EBV, and migration of lung opacities may be related to the patient's immune status.

Abstract Axillary accessory breast (AAB) occurs in 2%-6% of women. Like normal breast tissue, ABB can undergo changes, including periodic enlargement that can result in a palpable axillary mass. Fibroadenoma is the most common benign subcutaneous tumor of the breast: it occurs in approximately 25% of women and accounts for 50% of all breast biopsies. However, fibroadenoma in AAB is rare (2.6%). Here, we describe the case of a patient who was diagnosed first with left AAB on the basis of clinical and magnetic imaging resonance findings, and then 40 days later with fibroadenoma in left AAB by histopathology of the resected mass. The tumor, which had been undetectable at the initial visit, had transformed into a clinically obvious, hard, protruding mass at surgery. Thus, fibroadenomas originating from AAB can grow quickly, and imaging-based diagnosis should be confirmed with histology. Treatment should involve complete excision of the fibroadenoma and surrounding AAB.

Abstract Objective To clarify both the histologic changes in primary viral pneumonia other than COVID-19 and whether patients with severe lung injury (SLI) on biopsy specimens progress to severe respiratory insufficiency. Methods Patients with primary viral pneumonia other than COVID-19, who underwent lung tissue biopsy, were retrospectively studied. Patients Forty-three patients (41 living patients and 2 autopsied cases) were included in the study. Results Nine patients had SLI, whereas most of patients who recovered from primary viral pneumonia showed a nonspecific epithelial injury pattern. One patient underwent a biopsy under mechanical ventilation. Two of 8 (25.0%) patients on ambient air or low-flow oxygen therapy progressed to a severe respiratory condition and then to death, while only 1 (3.1%) of 32 patients without SLI progressed to a severe respiratory condition and death (p=0.096). The proportion of patients who required O

Abstract This study shows an autonomous android robot that can have a natural daily dialogue with humans. The dialogue system for daily dialogue is different from a task-oriented dialogue system in that it is not given a clear purpose or the necessary information. That is, it needs to generate an utterance in a situation where there is no clear request from humans. Therefore, to continue a dialogue with a consistent content, it is necessary to essentially change the design policy of dialogue management compared with the existing dialogue system. The purpose of our study is to constructively find out the dialogue system architecture for realizing daily dialogue through implementing an autonomous dialogue robot capable of daily natural dialogue. We defined the android's desire necessary for daily dialogue and the dialogue management system in which the android changes its internal (mental) states in accordance to the desire and partner's behavior and chooses a dialogue topic suitable for the current situation. The developed android could continue daily dialogue for about 10 min in the scene where the robot and partner met for the first time in the experiment. Moreover, a multimodal Turing test has shown that half of the participants had felt that the android was remotely controlled to some degree, that is, the android's behavior was humanlike. This result suggests that the system construction method assumed in this study is an effective approach to realize daily dialogue, and the study discusses the system architecture for daily dialogue.

Abstract An 80-year-old woman who developed allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) was admitted to our institution in 2023 for an enlarged pulmonary mass lesion. She had developed ABPA in 2017, and corticosteroid therapy had improved the mucoid impaction of the bronchi. Because part of the lesion remained, increased doses of corticosteroid, antifungals, and biologics were administered, but the pulmonary lesion enlarged in 2022. Bronchoscopy showed necrotic tissue in the bronchial lumen, and bronchial washing fluid showed neutrophilic inflammation and fungal hyphae. We subsequently diagnosed her as having chronic pulmonary aspergillosis overlapping ABPA, and voriconazole was started that resulted in shrinkage of the nodules.

Abstract A 55-year-old man presented to our institution with abnormal chest X-ray shadows. Chest computed tomography (CT) showed left-sided interlobular septal thickening; thus, we suspected lymphangitis carcinomatosis and other disorders that show similar CT findings. Bronchoscopy and laboratory and imaging studies yielded no diagnostic findings. Pulmonary shadows during follow-up spontaneously improved then worsened. Thoracoscopic lung biopsy samples showed interstitial pneumonia and granulomas but the etiology of the pulmonary lesion could not be determined. At seven years after presentation, the patient's pulmonary shadows had gradually deteriorated, and he reported using topical minoxidil. His history of minoxidil use was linked to changes in the pulmonary shadows. The diagnostic delay was due to the patient's hesitancy to report drugs obtained online and the difficulty in obtaining such a history.
