Abstract Background: Cervical cancer is a significant global health burden, and individualized treatment approaches are necessary due to its heterogeneity. Radiotherapy is a common treatment modality; however, the response varies among patients. The identification of reliable biomarkers to predict radiotherapy sensitivity is crucial.
Methods: A cohort of 189 patients with stage IB2-IVA cervical cancer, treated with radiotherapy alone or concurrent chemoradiotherapy, was included. Serum samples were collected before treatment, and intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1) concentrations were determined. Patients were categorized into radiotherapy-sensitive (RS) and radiotherapy-resistant (RR) groups based on treatment response. Clinicopathological characteristics and survival rates were analyzed.
Results: The analysis of clinicopathological characteristics showed that age, family history of cervical cancer and post-menopausal status did not significantly differ between RS and RR groups. Tumor size demonstrated a borderline significant association with radiotherapy response, while differentiation degree was significantly associated. Serum ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 concentrations were significantly higher in the RR group compared to the RS group. Combined detection of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 improved the predictive ability for radiotherapy sensitivity. Higher serum ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 levels were observed in patients with lower tumor differentiation. Five-year overall survival rates differed significantly between patients with high and low ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 levels.
Conclusion: Serum ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 levels show potential as predictive biomarkers for radiotherapy sensitivity in cervical cancer.

Abstract Detection of endogenous CO (carbon monoxide) is an interesting topic in biology because it has been discovered as a messenger for signal transduction and therapeutic effects in vital biological activities. Fluorescence imaging has proven a powerful tool for detecting endogenous CO, which drives the development of low-cost and easy-to-use fluorescent probes. In this study, four azobenzene derivatives (A1, A2, A3, and A4) with various substituents were reported, including their geometric structures, photophysical parameters, and spectral responses to Cu

    Abstract Objective
Approach: In this study, we propose a novel method called location-related enhancement network (LRENet) which can enhance the contrast of liver lesions in CT images and facilitate their segmentation. LRENet consists of two steps: (1) locating the lesions and the surrounding tissues using a morphological approach and (2) enhancing the lesions and smoothing the other regions using a new loss function.
Main results: We evaluated LRENet on two public datasets (LiTS and 3Dircadb01) and one dataset collected from a collaborative hospital (Liver cancer dateset), and compared it with state-of-the-art methods regarding several metrics. The results of the experiments showed that our proposed method outperformed the compared methods on three datasets in several metrics. We also trained the Swin-Transformer network on the enhanced datasets and showed that our method could improve the segmentation performance of both liver and lesions.
Significance: Our method has potential applications in clinical diagnosis and treatment planning, as it can provide more reliable and informative CT images of liver tumors.

Abstract Background: Ralstonia pickettii is a low virulent, gram-negative bacillus that is rarely associated with human infections and may cause bacteremia. Microbacterium species are gram-positive coryneforms that are generally considered as a contaminant in Gram staining of blood cultures, especially when the time to positivity is longer than 48 h. Both these bacterial species are emerging opportunistic pathogens that may occasionally cause serious infections and even life-threatening health conditions.
Case presentation: Here, we report the case of a patient with bacteremia caused by both R. pickettii and Microbacterium. We advocate for providers to order rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing, since our patient's suffered two kinds of rare pathogens with the opposite of drug sensitivity results to imipenem.
Conclusions: Our case present a patient suffered septic shock caused by R. pickettii and Microbacterium. Improving the antibiotic management based on the result of antimicrobial susceptibility tests is the key of successful treatment.

Abstract In this paper, we propose a cooperative strategy-based self-organization mechanism to reconstruct the network. The mechanism includes a comprehensive evaluation algorithm and structure adjustment mechanism. The self-organization mechanism can be carried out simultaneously with the parameter optimization process. By calculating the similarity and independent contribution of normative neurons, the effectiveness of fuzzy rules can be jointly evaluated, and effective structural changes can be realized. Moreover, this mechanism should not set the threshold in advance in practical application. In order to optimize the parameters of SC-IR2FNN, we developed a parameter optimization mechanism based on an interaction strategy. The parameter optimization mechanism based on a joint strategy, namely multilayer optimization engine, can split SC-IR2FNN parameters into nonlinear and linear parameters for joint optimization. The nonlinear parameters are optimized by an advanced two-level algorithm, and the linear parameters are updated with the minimum biological multiplication. Two parameter optimization algorithms optimize nonlinear and linear parameters, reduce the computational complexity of SC-IR2FNN, and improve the learning rate. Using the principal component factor analysis method, seven representative common factors are selected to replace the original variables, which include the profitability factor of the financing enterprise, the solvency factor of the financing enterprise, the profitability factor of the core enterprise, the operation guarantee factor, and the growth ability of the financing enterprise. Factors, supply chain online degree factors, financing enterprise quality, and cooperation factors, can well measure the credit risk of online supply chains. The logistic model shows that the profitability factor of the financing company, the debt repayment factor of the financing company, and the profitability of the core company are three factors that have a significant impact on the credit risk of online supply ...
