Abstract According to the cognitive model of suicide, interactions between hopelessness and attentional biases toward suicidal information create a narrowed attentional focus on suicide as a viable solution, particularly in the presence of life stress, leading to increased suicide risk. This study used a dynamic systems approach to examine the short-term temporal patterns between stress, hopelessness, suicide-specific rumination, and suicidal intent. Adults (N = 237; M = 27.12 years; 62% cisgender women; 87% White/European American) with elevated suicidal ideation completed ecological momentary assessments six times a day for 14 days. A multilevel model approach informed by dynamic systems theory was used to simultaneously assess stable and dynamic temporal processes underlying perceived stress, hopelessness, suicide-specific rumination, and suicidal intent. Each variable demonstrated temporal stability. In support of the cognitive model of suicide, we observed (1) a reciprocal relationship between stress and hopelessness such that stress and hopelessness amplified each other (early-stage processes), and (2) reinforcing loops such that hopelessness, suicide-specific rumination, and suicidal intent amplified each other (later-stage processes). A dynamic systems modeling approach underscored the negative impact of a perpetuating cycle of suicide-specific rumination, deepening hopelessness, and escalating suicidal intent on increasing suicide risk, which may be targets for intervention.

Abstract: ... the role of the gendered drivers of violence and fails to encompass a socio-ecological lens which is ...

Abstract Background: Reproductive coercion is a significant public health issue in Australia which has mainly been conceptualised as a form of violence at the interpersonal level. This limited scope ignores the role of the gendered drivers of violence and fails to encompass a socio-ecological lens which is necessary to consider the multiple interacting layers that create the context in which reproductive coercion occurs. The aim of the scoping review was to explore how the reproductive coercion is defined by international research. Specifically, how is reproductive coercion defined at the social-cultural-systems-structural levels, and are the definitions of reproductive coercion inclusive of the conditions and contexts in which reproductive coercion occurs?
Methods: A scoping review was undertaken to explore existing definitions of reproductive coercion. Searches were conducted on Embase, Cochrane Library, Informit Health Collection, and the EBSCOHost platform. Google was also searched for relevant grey literature. Articles were included if they were: theoretical research, reviews, empirical primary research, grey literature or books; published between January 2018 and May 2022; written in English; and focused on females aged 18-50 years. Data from eligible articles were deductively extracted and inductively thematically analysed to identify themes describing how reproductive coercion is defined.
Results: A total of 24 articles were included in the scoping review. Most research defined reproductive coercion at the interpersonal level with only eight articles partially considering and four articles fully considering the socio-cultural-systems-structural level. Thematic analysis identified four main themes in reproductive coercion definitions: Individual external exertion of control over a woman's reproductive autonomy; Systems and structures; Social and cultural determinants; and Freedom from external forces to achieve reproductive autonomy.
Conclusions: We argue for and propose a more inclusive definition of reproductive coercion that considers the gendered nature of reproductive coercion, and is linked to power, oppression and inequality, which is and can be perpetrated and/or facilitated at the interpersonal, community, organisational, institutional, systems, and societal levels as well as by the state.

Abstract This article outlines the background for performing medical documentation in the context of a rehabilitation centre by reviewing literature and current practices. The article moreover delineates 6 ways of using medico-legal documentation in torture prevention: National legal proceedings; international legal proceedings; asylum cases; research, lobbying and advocacy activities. This article forms the basis for a Pilot Study performed at the Rehabilitation and Research Centre for Torture Victims in Copenhagen, which is described elsewhere.

Abstract Fluorescent probes in the near-infrared (NIR) range have immense potential to improve observation of positive margins, lymph nodes, and nerves in prostatectomy. Development of fluorescent dyes and mechanisms of cellular uptake paved the way for the current emerging technologies. However, intracellular transport of fluorophores proved to be logistically challenging with respect to intraoperative deployment. Peptide-based probes with high specificity for nerves enabled broader and more rapid labeling. Key features of the ideal probe include selectivity, minimal background noise, safety, and low cost. Human neuropeptide 401 (HNP401) and oxazine-based probes perform well in these categories. As for tumor-specific labeling, prostate specific membrane antigen is relatively selective for the prostate and can be conjugated to a fluorophore. NIR spectrum emission is an ideal range for clinical imaging use, as fluorescence occurs outside the field of visible light, and tissue optical properties diverge significantly at the visible-NIR transition. Indocyanine, carbocyanine, and fluorescein derivatives are common fluorophore conjugates for the probes. Finally, to harness the power of fluorescence intraoperatively, the surgeon must look through a specialized lens. Multiphoton microscopy, optical coherence tomography, and confocal laser endomicroscopy have emerged as frontrunners in this arena. As with any evolving technology, ongoing research is expanding the applications of fluorescent intraoperative imaging in prostate surgery. Innovations in camera technology, dye selection, and image processing are refining the technique's capabilities. A core challenge of these technologies translating into the operating room relates to size and the ability to view objects at vastly different magnifications. Dual modality zoom settings are promising solutions. Furthermore, interdisciplinary collaboration between surgeons, imaging specialists, and researchers continues to drive advancements. In conclusion, fluorescent intraoperative imaging has the potential to usher in a new era of precision and safety in prostate surgery.

Abstract A Pilot Study was performed at the Rehabilitation and Research Centre for Torture Victims (RCT) in Copenhagen in order to explore the possibilities for adding a medico-legal documentation component to the rehabilitation of torture victims already taking place. It describes the process and results on implementing medico-legal documentation in a rehabilitative setting. A modified version of the Guidelines in the Istanbul Protocol was developed on the basis of the review of literature and current practices described in "Documentation of torture victims, implementation of medico-legal protocols". The modified guidelines were tested on five clients. The aim was twofold: 1) To assess the client's attitude towards the idea of adding a documentation component to the rehabilitation process and: 2) To assess the practical circumstances of implementing the Istanbul Protocol in the everyday life of a rehabilitation centre. Results show that all five clients were positive towards the project and found comfort in being able to contribute to the fight against impunity. Also, the Pilot Study demonstrated that a large part of the medico-legal documentation was already obtained in the rehabilitation process. It was however not accessible due to lack of systematization and a data registering system. There are thus important synergies in collecting data for rehabilitation and documentation but a joint database system is necessary to realize these synergies.
