Abstract Purpose: To compare SF 6 relative with C 2 F 6 in the anatomical and functional outcomes following pars plana vitrectomy for uncomplicated primary pseudophakic rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with inferior causative breaks.
Methods: This is a retrospective, comparative study on eyes with pseudophakic rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with inferior causative breaks that had small-gauge pars plana vitrectomy repair using SF 6 and C 2 F 6 tamponade between 2011 and 2020 at a tertiary centre in the United Kingdom. Primary outcome was single surgery anatomical success, and the secondary outcome was best-corrected visual acuity. Propensity score matching, using preoperative findings as covariates to account for relevant confounders, was performed.
Results: From 162 pseudophakic rhegmatogenous retinal detachment eyes with inferior causative breaks, the median (interquartile range) follow-up was 82 (52-182) days. The single surgery anatomical success was 156 (96.3%) overall: 47 of 47 (100.0%) and 109 of 115 (94.8%) in the SF 6 and C 2 F 6 groups, respectively ( P = 0.182). Relative to the SF 6 group, the C 2 F 6 group had a higher mean number of tears (SF 6 : 3.1[2.0], C 2 F 6 : 4.5[2.7], P = 0.002) and greater retinal detachment extent (SF 6 : 5.3[2.9], C 2 F 6 : 6.2[2.6] clock hours, P = 0.025). Following propensity score matching analysis, 80 eyes were matched with 40 in each group to homogenize preoperative factors. No significant difference was found in single surgery anatomical success and best-corrected visual acuity between the groups following propensity score matching.
Conclusion: Primary pars plana vitrectomy with gas tamponade leads to a high single surgery anatomical success rate in uncomplicated pseudophakic rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with inferior causative breaks with no additional benefit associated with long-acting tamponade when comparing C 2 F 6 with SF 6 .

Abstract Background and objective: To present a structured approach for assessing stakeholder perceptions and implementing the approach in guideline development.
Methods: This work was carried out by the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) Equity and Stakeholder Engagement Project Groups through brainstorming and iterative frameworks, stakeholder engagement, pilot testing, refinement of ideas, using input from workshops, and discussions at GRADE Working Group meetings to produce this document, which constitutes a GRADE conceptual article on implementation.
Results: We introduce the FACE implementation criteria, feasibility, acceptability, cost, and equity; priority; and "intent to implement" criterion. We outline the implementation importance of networks and approaches to patient and other stakeholder engagement. Implementation is often highly contextual and can benefit from stakeholder engagement and other assessments. Our FACE approach provides stakeholder questions and language to inform guideline implementation and tools.
Conclusion: The FACE criteria propose a series of knowledge translation questions to guide the assessment of implementation for evidence-based guidelines. It is desirable for guideline developers to use a conceptual approach, such as FACE, to tailor implementation and inform end of guideline dissemination and knowledge translation activities.

Abstract Ion transport across the mitochondrial inner and outer membranes is central to mitochondrial function, including regulation of oxidative phosphorylation and cell death. Although essential for ATP production by mitochondria, recent findings have confirmed that the c-subunit of the ATP synthase also houses a large conductance uncoupling channel, the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP), the persistent opening of which produces osmotic dysregulation of the inner mitochondrial membrane and cell death. This review will discuss recent advances in understanding the molecular components of mPTP, its regulatory mechanisms and how these contribute directly to its physiological as well as pathological roles.

Abstract These guidelines provide an up-date of previous IFCN report on "Non-invasive electrical and magnetic stimulation of the brain, spinal cord and roots: basic principles and procedures for routine clinical application" (Rossini et al., 1994). A new Committee, composed of international experts, some of whom were in the panel of the 1994 "Report", was selected to produce a current state-of-the-art review of non-invasive stimulation both for clinical application and research in neuroscience. Since 1994, the international scientific community has seen a rapid increase in non-invasive brain stimulation in studying cognition, brain-behavior relationship and pathophysiology of various neurologic and psychiatric disorders. New paradigms of stimulation and new techniques have been developed. Furthermore, a large number of studies and clinical trials have demonstrated potential therapeutic applications of non-invasive brain stimulation, especially for TMS. Recent guidelines can be found in the literature covering specific aspects of non-invasive brain stimulation, such as safety (Rossi et al., 2009), methodology (Groppa et al., 2012) and therapeutic applications (Lefaucheur et al., 2014). This up-dated review covers theoretical, physiological and practical aspects of non-invasive stimulation of brain, spinal cord, nerve roots and peripheral nerves in the light of more updated knowledge, and include some recent extensions and developments.
