Abstract Introduction: Transurethral Resection of Prostate (TURP) is the most common treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). Blood loss during and after transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is a potential cause of morbidity and clot retention. Usual practise is to apply traction in every case of TURP to reduce early postoperative hematuria and clot retention. There are very few studies in the literature and they have mainly concentrated on the effect of traction on reducing blood loss but there is scanty data regarding the morbidity associated with the use of traction. Various authors have described their method of traction application. So, in this study, we will compare the result of short term (10 min) traction with standard (4-6 h) traction.
Materials and methods: It is a prospective comparative study with 50 participants, conducted at the department of Urology of a tertiary care hospital in eastern India after taking ethical clearance and consent from the patient. The patients attending urology O.P.D. with LUTS and diagnosed as BPH and planned for elective TURP and who had prolonged traction after TURP were excluded. Study period was one and the half year.
Results: Post operatively 25 patients were managed with catheter traction while 25 patients were managed with short term traction of 10 min. Pain which is assessed by visual analog scale (VAS) at 2 and 4 h post operatively is statistically significant with
Conclusion: If hemostatsis is done properly then short term traction is preferable, safe and had fewer complications for prostate volume <65 g in comparison to standard traction TURP comparing the overall factors. Although, VAS score at 2 and 4 h post operatively shows patient experienced less pain even in prostate volume >65 g.

Abstract Objectives: Compare the surgical outcomes, safety, stone free rate, hospital stay, and complication of prone and supine PCNL in case of complex renal stone.
Materials and methods: This is an observational study conducted in our institute, it consist of 120 patients over the period of 2 years from July 2021 to June 2023, all the patients were divided into two groups: 60 patients underwent modified supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and remaining 60 patients underwent standard prone PCNL. The measured data included operative time, number of punctures, blood loss, stone-free rate, length of hospital stays, and rate of complications.
Results: The two groups were comparable in mean age, male to female ratio, number of punctures, number of tract, size of tract, residual calculi in follow up period, blood transfusion, re-do surgery, chest complication, hospital stay, and postoperative fever and pain. The mean operating time was 1.59 h in supine PCNL and 2.49 h in prone PCNL. The
Conclusions: By this study we observed that the supine PCNL is associated with statistically significant reduced operating time as compared to conventional prone PCNL with advantages of not putting the patient in prone position. The postoperative complications such as pain and fever were not significant when compared in both groups. We conclude our study and found that, the supine PCNL is an equally effective in treating complex renal stone as compared to prone PCNL.

Abstract Introduction: Efficacy of low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (LiESWT) in Peyronie's disease (PD) has not been studied in an Indian population. Here, we studied the effect of LiESWT in Indian PD patients.
Methods: This prospective study was conducted on 25 patients who completed weekly sessions of LiESWT for 6 weeks with a follow-up of 6 months. Patients were evaluated using International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF)-5 questionnaire for erectile dysfunction and visual analog scale for pain. Baseline and follow-up examinations included measurement of plaque size and curvature. The primary outcome was to assess remission of pain and reduction of plaque size along with improvement of penile curvature and erectile function as the secondary outcome.
Results: Primary goal of pain reduction and ≥50% reduction of plaque size was achieved in 64% and 20% of patients, respectively. Improvement in vaginal penetration during sexual intercourse and IIEF-5 score increase of ≥3 was achieved 20% and 36% cases, respectively. The mean reduction of penile curvature was more with plaque calcification (PC), but the difference was not statistically significant (
Conclusions: Shockwave therapy is a probable alternative treatment option. A significant improvement was observed in pain and plaque size in patients treated by LiESWT. The presence of PC may affect the outcome of LiESWT in PD.

Abstract Ureteral entanglement in ring Inferior Venacava (IVC) also called Periureteric venous ring is a rare developmental anomaly, where right ureter passes through a slit like opening in a partially duplicated infrarenal IVC, this results in a dilated upper urinary tract. Authors hereby report a case of a 25-year-old married female presented with flank pain of right side of abdomen for seven months. On Contrast Enhanced Computed Tomography of Kidney, Ureters and Bladder (CECT KUB) with urography diagnosed as retrocaval ureter with right hydronephrosis. The patient was planned for right ureteroureterostomy. During surgery, it was found that right ureter was entangled in between slit like opening of inferior venacaval ring. Preureteral venacava with ring IVC is a rare phenomenon. Clinically it is very difficult to distinguish between the causes of ureteric obstruction. There is scarcity of such cases in the literature. The index case was also diagnosed intraoperatively and managed successfully.

Abstract Introduction: There is a general consensus that results of hypospadias repair surgery, done on children, seem to have a better outcome when compared to the adults. Hypospadias cases in adults can present as primary or with complications resulting from an attempted repair. Aim: To assess any difference in outcome of surgeries done among the adolescent and adult population and to evaluate the use of a Tunica Vaginalis (TV) second layer barrier flap in preventing complications such as urethrocutaneous fistula. Materials and Methods: This was a single centre retrospective observational assessment of the adolescent and adult hypospadias surgeries conducted at a Tertiary Care Hospital from January 2016 to July 2019. The assessment was based on the presentation, site of hypospadias meatus, previous surgery and development of any complications or recurrence. Routine surgeries as per the hospital protocol were done in these patients. Follow-up was done for the next 12 months. For data analysis tables, columns and pie charts were used. Fisher’sexact test was used to find the association and calculate the p-value with the help of SPSS 21.0 software. Results: Total 28 patients were assessed, of which 17 patients were adolescents (mean age 14.6±1.66 years) and 11 (mean age 22.7±3.51 years) were adult. There was no significant (p-value 0.581) difference in the final outcome of hypospadias repair surgery between the adolescent and adult population. Use of TV interposition barrier flap prevented development of complications. Urethrocutaneous fistula was the most common form of complication noted in both the groups overall rate of complication was 14.2%. Conclusion: When hypospadias repair in adolescents and adults is done in a systematic and meticulous fashion, the outcome was satisfactory and there was no significant difference in outcome among the two age groups. Use of TV flap as a second layer interposition can improve the outcome in such patients.

Abstract Introduction: Retrocaval ureter is a rare congenital anomaly which remains silent until the 3rd or 4th decade of life. But once a patient develops symptoms, it mandates treatment in the form of surgical management. Open surgery has traditionally been considered as the standard of care but it has its own downside or limitations. It requires a relatively large skin incision causing significant postoperative pain and thus prolonging convalescence. Transperitoneal laparoscopic approach is the preferred approach by most surgeons owing to large working space and familiar anatomy. Aim: To compare the safety and efficacy of transperitoneal laparoscopic and open surgery for definitive management of retrocaval ureter. Materials and Methods: Clinical data of fifteen patients, that underwent surgery for retrocaval ureter from December 2013 to January 2020 and the study of this data was done from June 2020, at Urology Department were analysed retrospectively. Out of 15 patients, seven were treated by open surgery while eight underwent transperitoneal laparoscopic surgery. Ureter was transpositioned to normal anatomic position followed by ureteroureterostomy. Student t-test was applied to interpret and analyse the data obtained in both the groups using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 24. Results: Total of 15 patients data was studied (7 open surgery + 8 transpertional laparoscopic surgery, age group between 21- 45 years). Intraoperative and postoperative data were compared between the transperitoneal laparoscopic and open surgery group. A statistically significant difference was found for operative time (p-value <0.001), estimated blood loss (p-value <0.05), analgesic requirement (p-value <0.001), drain removal (p-value <0.05) and hospital stay (p-value <0.001) between the two groups. Superficial surgical site infection was noted in two patients in open surgery group. For rest 13 patients postoperative period was uneventful. The follow-up of all patients was done for 12-36 months. ...

Abstract The present paper is dealt with a predator-prey model in which the growth of the prey population is influenced by the Allee effect while the predator species are contended with the prey population following the Crowley-Martin type response function. The proposed model is comprehensively analyzed in terms of stability and manifestation of bifurcation of the system. The system unveils the bi-stability together with the existence of a separatrix. In view of the eminence of spatial ecology, the dynamical complexity emanating from the induction of the Allee effect in prey species of a Crowley-Martin reaction-diffusion predator-prey model is also investigated profoundly. The results of numerical simulations reveal that the present system dynamics is motivated by both the Allee effect and diffusion-controlled pattern formation growth to hot spots, stripe-hot spot mixtures, stripes, labyrinthine, stripe-cold spot mixtures, and cold spots replication. The theoretical consequences of the spatiotemporal model under study are validated through numerical simulations.

Abstract We present a theoretical study of the spatiotemporal antiresonance in a system of two diffusively coupled chemical reactions, one of which is driven by an external periodic forcing. Although antiresonance is well known in various physical systems, the phenomenon in coupled chemical reactions has largely been overlooked. Based on the linearized dynamics around the steady state of the two-component coupled reaction-diffusion systems we have derived the general analytical expressions for the amplitude-frequency response functions of the driven and undriven components of the system. Our theoretical analysis is well corroborated by detailed numerical simulations on coupled Gray-Scott reaction-diffusion systems exhibiting antiresonance dip in the amplitude-frequency response curve as a result of destructive interference between the coupling and the periodic external forcing imparting differential stability of the two subsystems. This leads to the emergence of spatiotemporal patterns in an undriven subsystem, while the driven one settles down to a homogeneously stable steady state.

Abstract We consider a model reaction-diffusion system with two coupled layers in which one of the components in a layer is parametrically driven by a periodic force. On perturbation of a homogeneous stable steady state, the system exhibits parametric instability inducing synchronization in temporal oscillation at half the forcing frequency in absence of diffusion and spatiotemporal patterns in presence of diffusion, when strength of parametric forcing and the strength of coupling are kept above their critical thresholds. We have formulated a general scheme to derive analytically the critical thresholds and dispersion relation to locate the unstable spatial modes lying between the tilted Arnold tongue in the amplitude-frequency plot. Full numerical simulations on Gierer-Meinhardt activator-inhibitor model corroborate our theoretical analysis on parametric instability-induced antiphase synchronization in chemical oscillation and spatiotemporal pattern formation, between the two layers.
