Abstract Viola cornuta L. is an ornamental plant that is primarily propagated by high-quality seeds that have high demand in subtropical countries. The use of fertilizers according to recommendations results in the growth of parent plants below the standard. Furthermore, seed production is generated below 2 g per plant and the seed germination capacity is below 80%. In addition, phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) nutrients can increase the growth and seed production of the plants, including ornamental plants. The study aimed to determine the influence of P and K nutrients on growth and seed production of V. cornuta L. Research was carried out in November 2018 - January 2019 at PT. Selektani Horticulture, Ngablak, Magelang. There were seven treatments with four replications. Experiments were arranged according to the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Plants were grown in 5l volume-polybags. Fertilization was done by watering the planting media. Analysis of variance was performed at 95% accuracy. The study shows that P and K nutrients have a highly significant effect on height, number of flowers, number of seed per capsule, seed production and germination energy and significantly affected the number of leaves. The addition of both P and K fertilizers in the vegetative and P in the generative stage (P6) can result in the productivity of 3.28 g plant-1 and produce germination energy ≥90%. It is recommended for increasing growth and seed production.

Abstract Strongylids are a group of worms that infect the digestive tract of horses consisting of Strongylus vulgaris, Strongylus equinus, Strongylus edentates and Cyathostomes. There is no reported prevalence data on Strongylids infection in horses in East Java. Study on Strongylids is urgently needed because this worm is one of the causes of zoonotic diseases. This study aimed to identify Strongylids that infect horses morphologically. Identification of Strongylids in this study using morphological methods. A total of 65 horse faeces in East Java, i.e. in the cities of Surabaya, Malang, Kediri and Pasuruan were examined microscopically after being fixed in 10% formalin. Three microscopically positive samples showed a prevalence of 4,6% with an average size of 60-70µm x 50-60µm and larvae developed inside the worm eggs.

Abstract This study aimed to determine the anthelmintic activity of the ethanol extract of gamal leaves (Gliricidia sepium) against Ascaridia galli in vitro. There were six treatment groups and each consisted of four replicates. This study used ten A. galli in each treatment for all replications. Observation and recording of death of A. galli was carried out at the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th hours. Death of A. galli was declared if there was no movement when clamped with anatomical tweezers. The data obtained were analyzed using the ANOVA test and continued with Duncan's test. The results showed that the ethanol extract of gamal leaves had an anthelmintic effect on A. galli worms in vitro. The extract with a concentration of 5% has almost the same anthelmintic properties as piperazine citrate 10 mg/ml. In conclusion, the higher the concentration of the extract, the higher the anthelmintic properties.

Abstract Aim: The objective of this research was to determine the species and strains of Leucocytozoon caulleryi and study the phylogenetics of L. caulleryi of broiler chickens in endemic areas in Indonesia. Materials and Methods: Blood samples were collected from broiler chickens originated from endemic area in Indonesia, i.e., Pasuruan, Lamongan, Blitar, Lumajang, Boyolali, Purwokerto, and Banjarmasin in 2017. Collected blood was used for microscopic examination, sequencing using BLAST method to identify the nucleotide structure of cytochrome b (cyt b) gene that determines the species, and the phylogenetics analysis of L. caulleryi that infected broiler chickens in endemic areas in Indonesia, using Mega 5 software. Results: The results showed that Plasmodium sp. and L. caulleryi were infected broiler chickens in endemic areas in Indonesia. L. caulleryi in one area had very close phylogenetic relations with those in other areas. The genetic distance between L. caulleryi taxa from various endemic areas is very close (<5%). Conclusion: There is a very close phylogenetics among strains of L. caulleryi that infected broiler chickens in various endemic areas in Indonesia.

Abstract White-lipped Green Pitviper (Trimeresurus insularis) is one type of snake whose population in nature is still not extinct and has a wide spread starting from the island of Java, Bali, Komodo, Lombok, Padar, Rinca, Romang, Roti, Sumba, Sumbawa, Timor. Population decline can occur if the incidence of disease infections continues to increase, one of the most common infectious diseases is helminthiasis. This study aimed to identify and determine the level of Acathochepala infection in White-lipped Green Pitviper in Banyuwangi Regency. A total of 20 green snakes were examined for Acanthochepala infection. Identification was done when the worm had been stained using carmine. The results showed that 20 positive green snake samples were infected with Acanthochepala in the subcutan, muscle tissue, digestive tract and reproductive tract.
