Abstract A type of evolutionarily conserved, noncoding, small, endogenous, single-stranded RNA, miRNAs are widely distributed in eukaryotes, where they participate in various biological processes as critical regulatory molecules. miR-1299 has mainly been investigated in cancers. miR-1299 is a tumor suppressor that regulates the expression of its target genes, activating or inhibiting the transcription of genes regulating biological activities including cell proliferation, migration, survival and programmed cell death. miR-1299 has become a hotspot in research of disease mechanisms and biomarkers; elucidation of the regulatory roles of miR-1299 in tumorigenesis, proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, migration and angiogenesis may provide a new perspective for understanding its biological functions as a tumor suppressor.

Abstract Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been widely considered to enhance the communication coverage, as well as the wireless power transfer (WPT) of energy-constrained communication networks to prolong their lifetime. However, the trajectory design of a UAV in such a system remains a key problem, especially considering the three-dimensional (3D) feature of the UAV. To address this issue, a UAV-assisted dual-user WPT system was investigated in this paper, where a UAV-mounted energy transmitter (ET) flies in the air to broadcast wireless energy to charge the energy receivers (ERs) on the ground. By optimizing the UAV's 3D trajectory toward a balanced tradeoff between energy consumption and WPT performance, the energy harvested by all ERs during a given mission period was maximized. The above goal was achieved through the following detailed designs. On the one hand, on the basis of previous research results, there is a one-to-one correspondence between the UAV's abscissa and height, so only the relationship between the height and time was focused on in this work to obtain the UAV's optimal 3D trajectory. On the other hand, the idea of calculus was employed to calculate the total harvested energy, leading to the proposed high-efficiency trajectory design. Finally, the simulation results demonstrated that this contribution is capable of enhancing the energy supply by carefully designing the 3D trajectory of the UAV, compared to its conventional counterpart. In general, the above-mentioned contribution could be a promising way for UAV-aided WPT in the future Internet of Things (IoT) and wireless sensor networks (WSNs).

Abstract Bone is the most common organ for the development of metastases in many primary tumours, including those of the breast, prostate and lung. In most cases, bone metastasis is incurable, and treatment is predominantly palliative. Much research has focused on the role of Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs) in the mechanism of metastasis to the bone, and methods have been developed to isolate and count CTCs from peripheral blood. Several methods are currently being used in the study of CTCs, but only one, the CellSearchTM system has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for clinical use. This review summarises the advantages and disadvantages, and outlines which clinical studies have used these methods. Studies have found that CTC numbers are predictive of bone metastasis in breast, prostate and lung cancer. Further work is required to incorporate information on CTCs into current staging systems to guide treatment in the prevention of tumour progression into bone.

Abstract The mounting body of evidence demonstrates the growing importance of long noncoding RNAs in the advancement of tumors. This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanism of lnc-SNAPC5-3:4 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We investigated the expression of miR-224-3p and lnc-SNAPC5-3:4 in clinical NSCLC samples and NSCLC cell lines using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

Abstract Background: The 2022-2023 mpox (monkeypox) outbreak has spread rapidly across multiple countries in the non-endemic region, mainly among men who have sex with men (MSM). In this study, we aimed to evaluate mpox's importation risk, border screening effectiveness and the risk of local outbreak in Chinese mainland.
Methods: We estimated the risk of mpox importation in Chinese mainland from April 14 to September 11, 2022 using the number of reported mpox cases during this multi-country outbreak from Global.health and the international air-travel data from Official Aviation Guide. We constructed a probabilistic model to simulate the effectiveness of a border screening scenario during the mpox outbreak and a hypothetical scenario with less stringent quarantine requirement. And we further evaluated the mpox outbreak potential given that undetected mpox infections were introduced into men who have sex with men, considering different transmissibility, population immunity and population activity.
Results: We found that the reduced international air-travel volume and stringent border entry policy decreased about 94% and 69% mpox importations respectively. Under the quarantine policy, 15-19% of imported infections would remain undetected. Once a case of mpox is introduced into active MSM population with almost no population immunity, the risk of triggering local transmission is estimated at 42%, and would rise to > 95% with over six cases.
Conclusions: Our study demonstrates that the reduced international air-travel volume and stringent border entry policy during the COVID-19 pandemic reduced mpox importations prominently. However, the risk could be substantially higher with the recovery of air-travel volume to pre-pandemic level. Mpox could emerge as a public health threat for Chinese mainland given its large MSM community.

Abstract As an endemic species and the only Helleborus species in China, Helleborus thibetanus is highly valued in medicinal and ornamental applications, and basic research is needed for its further resource conservation and utilization. Considering the interesting disjunct distribution of the genus Helleborus , we focus on the distribution pattern of H. thibetanus in this research. Based on species distribution models using three different algorithms (MaxEnt, RF, and FDA), we constructed a robust ensemble model and predicted potential distributions under different scenarios: current situation, paleo periods since the Last Glacial Maximum, and simulations of climate change in the 2070s. The habitat suitability of H. thibetanus across geography and scenarios was further analyzed by calculating regional areas and centroids. The results showed that H. thibetanus is currently distributed in southern Shaanxi and northern Sichuan, while central and southern Sichuan used to be suitable 14 thousand years ago but gradually became unsuitable, which may reflect the population decrease in Sichuan and the population expansion in Shaanxi over the last 14 thousand years. Our results showed that current populations are under limited extinction pressure in the soft climate change scenario (ssp126), but most populations in Shaanxi are under extinction pressure in the hardy situation scenario (ssp585). Fortunately, northern Sichuan is predicted to be relatively stable under climate change (both ssp126 and ssp585), and regions in western Sichuan and eastern Qinghai are predicted to become newly suitable for H. thibetanus . These findings should be helpful for the further conservation and utilization of H. thibetanus and also help us understand the history of the conjunct distribution pattern of the Helleborus genus.

Abstract Incorporating heteroatoms into carbon structure has been demonstrated to be efficient for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, the preparation complexity and poor durability are insufficient for the future hydrogen economy. In this work, the preparation of ZIF-67/BC precursor with BC as the template was done for the in-situ growth of MOFs (ZIF-67) crystals, followed by the carbonization and phosphating of ZIF-67/BC to prepare the CoP-NC/CBC N-doped composite carbon material with CoP as the primary active material. The results show that as an HER catalyst, CoP-NC/CBC can provide a current density of 10 mA cm
