Abstract Background: Long-term survival is still low for high-risk patients with soft tissue sarcoma treated with standard management options, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Immunotherapy is a promising new potential treatment paradigm. However, the application of immune checkpoint inhibitors for the treatment of patients with sarcoma did not yield promising results in a clinical trial. Therefore, there is a considerable need to identify factors that may lead to immune checkpoint inhibitor resistance.
Methods: In this study, we performed a bioinformatic analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to detect key long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) that were correlated with immune checkpoint inhibitory molecules in sarcoma. The expression levels of these lncRNAs and their correlation with patient prognosis were explored. The upstream long noncoding RNAs were also examined
Results: We identified lncRNAs correlated with tumor cell immune evasion in sarcoma. The expression of these lncRNAs was upregulated and correlated with worse prognosis in sarcoma and other human cancer types. Moreover, low DNA methylation occupation of these lncRNA loci was detected. Negative correlations between DNA methylation and lncRNA expression were also found in sarcoma and other human cancer types. KEGG and GO analyses indicated that these lncRNAs correlated with immune evasion and negative regulation of the immune response in sarcoma. Finally, high expression of these lncRNAs correlated with more suppressive immune cell infiltration and reduced sensitivity to immune checkpoint inhibitors in sarcoma and other human cancer types.
Conclusion: Our results suggest that long noncoding RNAs confer immune checkpoint inhibitor resistance in human cancer. Further characterization of these lncRNAs may help to elucidate the mechanisms underlying immune checkpoint inhibitor resistance and uncover a novel therapeutic intervention point for immunotherapy.

Abstract The direct electrooxidation reaction of ammonia borane (ABOR) as the anodic reaction of direct ammonia borane fuel cells (DABFCs) is greatly dependent on the properties of electrocatalysts. Both the active sites and charge/mass transfer characteristics are the key to promoting the processes of kinetics and thermodynamics, which can further improve the electrocatalytic activity. Hence, the catalyst double-heterostructured Ni

Abstract As a new type of single element direct-bandgap semiconductor, black phosphorus (BP) shows many excellent characteristics due to its unique two-dimensional (2D) structure, which has great potential in the fields of optoelectronics, biology, sensing, information, and so on. In recent years, a series of physical and chemical methods have been developed to modify the surface of 2D BP to inhibit its contact with water and oxygen and improve the stability and physical properties of 2D BP. By doping and coating other materials, the stability of BP applied in the anode of a lithium-ion battery was improved. In this work, the preparation, passivation, and lithium-ion battery applications of two-dimensional black phosphorus are summarized and reviewed. Firstly, a variety of BP preparation methods are summarized. Secondly, starting from the environmental instability of BP, different passivation technologies are compared. Thirdly, the applications of BP in energy storage are introduced, especially the application of BP-based materials in lithium-ion batteries. Finally, based on preparation, surface functionalization, and lithium-ion battery of 2D BP, the current research status and possible future development direction are put forward.

Abstract The water occurrence states in waste-activated sludge (WAS) are crucial to its dewaterability and significantly influenced by the water-retaining capacity of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) matrix. Accordingly, the non-selective •OH-oxidation processes were widely reported for the sludge dewaterability improvement, just because it can non-selectively destruct complex structure units of EPS, no matter these structure units are crucial to EPS water-holding capacity or not. But these non-selective processes may also require the large consumption of oxidant chemicals, which limits their wide application. This study specifically focused on the •OH-induced variation in molecular compositions of EPS and the corresponding effects on water occurrence states of WAS, which is expected to lay a foundation for optimizing the efficiency of oxidation-based sludge conditioning. Especially, through a novel method based on the equilibrium dialysis with alkaline titration, the typical hydrophilic functional groups of EPS were quantitatively analyzed. The results indicated that the free amino group (-NH

Abstract The rigid cell membrane structure is widely thought to retain the intracellular water and positively contributes to the presence of bound water in waste-activated sludge (WAS), which is the main obstacle of its highly-efficient dewatering. However, few studies realized the quantification of intracellular water fraction in the total bound water. Thus, there still may be some debates on whether and what extent of cell lysis is optimal for the dewaterability improvement. This study specifically focused on the effect of microbial cell lysis on the water occurrence states of WAS. The sonication, cyclic freezing-thawing and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) amendment were used as the non-chemical means for cell lysis without altering the chemical compositions of WAS. The extent of cell lysis was quantified by the aqueous lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) released from intracellular cytoplasm and the water occurrence states of WAS were characterized by the transverse relaxation time (T
