Abstract Introduction: The placement of a ureteral stent is one of the most widely performed procedures in urology. It can have a negative impact on the patients' quality of life, requiring a cystoscopy for its removal. The objective of this study is to evaluate the symptoms and impact on quality of life derived from the use of a magnetic double-J stent (Black Star®) and compare them to those presented in patients with a traditional double-J stent (OptiMed®).
Material and methods: We conducted a comparative, prospective, randomized study in 46 patients who underwent ureterorenoscopy with double-J stent placement between August 2019 and June 2020. Of all patients included, 23 had a traditional double-J stent placed (group A) and 23 had a magnetic double-J stent (group B) placed. We evaluated the results of the Ureteral Stent Symptom Questionnaire (USSQ) in both groups, assessed the technical difficulty related to stent removal and the pain during the procedure using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). We also reviewed the need for medical attention due to problems related to the stent or after its removal.
Results: There were no statistically significant differences between groups regarding the answers in the USSQ and the complications related to the use of the stent. Group B showed less pain (1.52 vs. 4, VAS, p = 0.001) and less difficulty during removal (1.61 vs. 3, p < 0.001) associated with a shorter procedure duration (11.65 min vs. 22.17 min p < 0.001).
Conclusions: The tolerance shown by the use of magnetic double-J is comparable to the tolerance of traditional stent, since it does not cause an increase in urinary symptoms nor worsens the quality of life of patients during its use.

Abstract Ribonucleases (RNases) are responsible for RNA metabolism. RNase J, the core enzyme of the RNA degradosome, plays an essential role in global mRNA decay. Emerging evidence showed that the RNase J of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb-RNase J) could be an excellent target for treating Mtb infection. Here, crystal structures of Mtb-RNase J in apo-state and complex with the single-strand RNA reveal the conformational change upon RNA binding and hydrolysis. Mtb-RNase J forms an active homodimer through the interactions between the β-CASP and the β-lactamase domain. Knockout of RNase J slows the growth rate and changes the colony morphologies and cell length in Mycobacterium smegmatis, which is restored by RNase J complementation. Finally, RNA-seq analysis shows that the knockout strain significantly changes the expression levels of 49 genes in metabolic pathways. Thus, our current study explores the structural basis of Mtb-RNase J and might provide a promising candidate in pharmacological treatment for tuberculosis.

Abstract Background: Previous studies have pointed out a potential role of ApoJ-Glyc as a biomarker of cardiac ischemia. The aim of this study was to validate the analytical performance of 2 novel ELISAs against 2 different glycosylated ApoJ variants, ApoJ-GlycA2 and ApoJ-GlycA6.
Methods: The analytical measuring range, limit of blank (LoB), lower limit of quantification (LoQ), precision, accuracy, recovery, cross-reactivity, and stability were evaluated in serum samples.
Results: The analytical measuring range was 500-16 000 ng/mL for ApoJ-GlycA2 and 125-4000 ng/mL for ApoJ-GlycA6, with a LoB of 455 ng/mL and 121 ng/mL for ApoJ-GlycA2 and ApoJ-GlycA6, respectively. The LoQ was 500 ng/mL for ApoJ-GlycA2 and 125 ng/mL for ApoJ-GlycA6. The assay performance fulfills the acceptance criteria established in the European Medicines Agency Guideline on bioanalytical method validation. Specifically, the calibration range variability is <15% for ApoJ-GlycA2 and ApoJ-GlycA6; the accuracy is <15% for ApoJ-GlycA2 and ApoJ-GlycA6; the between- and within-run precision is <15% for ApoJ-GlycA6 and ≤20% for ApoJ-GlycA2; and the total allowable error is <30% for ApoJ-GlycA2 and ApoJ-GlycA6. Cross-reactivity studies revealed the absence of cross-reactivity with endogenous components of the matrix (using ApoJ-depleted serum), with nonglycosylated ApoJ and with transferrin (as a high abundant N-glycosylated serum protein). Both ApoJ-GlycA2 and ApoJ-GlycA6 measurements were stable after storage of serum samples at -80°C for 24 months.
Conclusions: The newly developed ELISAs to quantify ApoJ-GlycA2 and ApoJ-GlycA6 serum levels showed an acceptable analytical performance according to European Medicines Agency guidelines on bioanalytical method validation in terms of precision, accuracy, recovery, cross-reactivity, and stability.

Abstract During field studies in Argentina, we collected a specimen of Aloina Kindb. that did not match any of the known species of the genus. Here we present our arguments for recognising this moss as a new species. The morphology of the new taxon was compared with that of the species of Aloina presently recognised. In addition, most of the type material of the taxa attributed to this genus in the world has been studied. Aloina scindulosa M.J.Cano, J.A.Jiménez & M.T.Gallego is described and illustrated as a new moss species from four localities in the Monte Desert area of Argentina. It is distinct from all other members of the genus in the combination of its lingulate leaves with unbordered margins, rectangular and slightly sheathing leaf bases, leaves ending in a long, hyaline, papillose hair-point near the leaf apex, the costa scarcely differentiated, in cross-section with no stereids, and the upper and middle laminal cells and costal surface dorsally prorate in the upper midleaf. Possible confusion with other species of the genus is discussed. A key to the South American species of Aloina is provided.

Abstract The type specimens of Austrodolops eremitae Blanchard, Doryctes ridiaschinae Brthes, and Hormiopius ptericoptophagus Blanchard were studied and reclassified according to the current classification of the subfamily Doryctinae. The monotypic genera Austrodolops Blanchard and Hormiopius Blanchard are treated as junior synonyms of Allorhogas Gahan (syn. nov.) and Heterospilus Haliday (syn. nov.) respectively. Examination of the gall associated species D. ridiaschinae shows that it belongs in the genus Allorhogas. All species are redescribed and illustrated and the following new combinations are proposed: Allorhogas eremitae (Blanchard) (comb. nov.), Allorhogas ridiaschinae (Brthes) (comb. nov.) and Heterospilus ptericoptophagus (Blanchard) (comb. nov.). Lectotypes are designated for all studied species and the genus Doryctes is excluded from the currently known Argentine fauna.
