    Abstract Background: Mung beans are abundant in nutrition, but their leguminous flavor limits their development. Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) fermentation can decrease unwanted bean flavors in legumes and enhance their flavor. This study examined the influence of Lactobacillus fermentation on the flavor characteristics of mung bean flour (MBF) using volatile compounds and non-targeted metabolomics.
    Results: Lactobacillus plantarum LP90, Lactobacillus casei LC89, and Lactobacillus acidophilus LA85 eliminated 61.37%, 48.29%, and 43.73% of the primary bean odor aldehydes from MBF. The results of relative odor activity values (ROAV) showed that fermented mung bean flour (FMBF) included volatile chemicals that contributed to fruity, flowery, and milky aromas. These compounds included ethyl acetate, hexyl formate, 3-hydroxy-2-butanone, and 2,3-butanedione. The levels of amino acids with a fresh sweet flavor increased significantly by 93.89%, 49.40%, and 35.27% in LP90, LC89, and LA85, respectively. A total of 49 up-regulated and 13 down-regulated significantly differential metabolites were annotated, and 10 metabolic pathways were screened for contributing to the flavor. The correlation between important volatile compounds and non-volatile substances relies on two primary metabolic pathways: the citric acid cycle pathway and the amino acid metabolic system.
    Conclusion: The flavor of MBF was greatly enhanced by the process of Lactobacillus fermentation, with LP90 having the most notable impact. These results serve as a reference for identifying the flavor of FMBF. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

    Abstract Background: Patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) are prone to stress ulcer after laparoscopic surgery. The analysis of risk factors for stress ulcer (SU) in patients with CRC is important to reduce mortality and improve patient prognosis.
    Aim: To identify risk factors for SU after laparoscopic surgery for CRC, and develop a nomogram model to predict the risk of SU in these patients.
    METHODSThe clinical data of 135 patients with CRC who underwent laparoscopic surgery between November 2021 and June 2022 were reviewed retrospectively. They were divided into two categories depending on the presence of SUs: The SU group (
    Results: Among the 135 patients with CRC, 23 patients had postoperative SU, with an incidence of 17.04%. The SU group had higher levels of heat shock protein (HSP) 70, HSP90, and gastrin (GAS) than the non-SU group. Age, lymph node metastasis, HSP70, HSP90, and GAS levels were statistically different between the two groups, but other indicators were not statistically different. Logistic regression analysis showed that age ≥ 65 years, lymph node metastasis, and increased levels of HSP70, HSP90 and GAS were all risk factors for postoperative SU in patients with CRC (
    Conclusion: Patients with CRC aged ≥ 65 years, with lymph node metastasis and elevated HSP70, HSP90, GAS levels, are prone to post-laparoscopic surgery SU. Our nomogram model shows good predictive value.

    Abstract Introduction: The prognosis of bladder cancer (BLCA) and response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are determined by multiple factors. Existed biomarkers for predicting the effect of immunotherapy cannot accurately predict the response of BLCA patients to ICIs.
    Methods: To further accurately stratify patients' response to ICIs and identify potential novel predictive biomarkers, we used the known T cell exhaustion (TEX)-related specific pathways, including tumor necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin (IL)-2, interferon (IFN)-g, and T- cell cytotoxicpathways, combined with weighted correlation network analysis (WGCNA) to analyze the characteristics of TEX in BLCA in detail, constructed a TEX model.
    Results: This model including 28 genes can robustly predict the survival of BLCA and immunotherapeutic efficacy. This model could divide BLCA into two groups, TEXhigh and TEXlow, with significantly different prognoses, clinical features, and reactivity to ICIs. The critical characteristic genes, such as potential biomarkers Charged Multivesicular Body Protein 4C (CHMP4C), SH2 Domain Containing 2A (SH2D2A), Prickle Planar Cell Polarity Protein 3 (PRICKLE3) and Zinc Finger Protein 165 (ZNF165) were verified in BLCA clinical samples by real-time quantitative chain reaction (qPCR) and immunohistochemistry (IHC).
    Discussion: Our findings show that the TEX model can serve as biological markers for predicting the response to ICIs, and the involving molecules in the TEX model might provide new potential targets for immunotherapy in BLCA.

    Abstract Three-dimensional tooth segmentation is the segmentation of single-tooth models from a digital dental model. It is an important foundation for diagnosis, planning, treatment and customized appliance manufacturing in digital orthodontics. With the deep integration of artificial intelligence technology and big data from stomatology, the use of deep learning algorithms to assist 3D tooth segmentation has gradually become mainstream. This review summarizes the current situation of deep learning algorithms that assist 3D tooth segmentation from the aspects of dataset establishment, algorithm architecture, algorithm performance, innovation and advantages, deficiencies of current research and prospects. The results of the literature review showed that deep learning tooth segmentation methods could obtain an accuracy of more than 95% and had good robustness. However, the segmentation of complex dental models, operation time and richness of the training database still need to be improved. Research and development of the "consumption reduction and strong core" algorithm, establishment of an authoritative data sample base with multiple centers, and expansion of data application depth and breadth will lead to further development in this field.

    Abstract NH groups in proteins or nucleic acids are the most challenging target for chemical shift prediction. Here we show that the RNA base pair triplet motif dictates imino chemical shifts in its central base pair. A lookup table is established that links each type of base pair triplet to experimental chemical shifts of the central base pair, and can be used to predict imino chemical shifts of RNAs to remarkable accuracy. Strikingly, the semiempirical method can well interpret the variations of chemical shifts for different base pair triplets, and is even applicable to non-canonical motifs. This finding opens an avenue for predicting chemical shifts of more complicated RNA motifs.     Abstract Eosinophilic pustular folliculitis (EPF) is a rare, chronic, itchy, aseptic disease. Although most cases of infantile EPF (I-EPF) are detected in infants, we found that a 7-year-old child with I-EPF, who received treatment with oral azithromycin in combination with topical narrow bound Ultra Violet B light (NB-UVB) irradiation, with no recurrence at follow-up. Our experience with the successful treatment of this patient can provide a reference for more pediatric patients.

    Abstract Drug addiction represents a multifaceted and recurrent brain disorder that possesses the capability to create persistent and ineradicable pathological memory. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has shown a therapeutic potential for neuropsychological disorders, while the precise stimulation targets and therapeutic parameters for addiction remain deficient. Among the crucial brain regions implicated in drug addiction, the dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN) has been found to exert an essential role in the manifestation of addiction memory. Thus, we investigated the effects of DRN DBS in the treatment of addiction and whether it might produce side effects by a series of behavioral assessments, including methamphetamine priming-induced reinstatement of drug seeking behaviors, food-induced conditioned place preference (CPP), open field test and elevated plus-maze test, and examined brain activity and connectivity after DBS of DRN. We found that high-frequency DBS of the DRN significantly lowered the CPP scores and the number of active-nosepokes in the methamphetamine-primed CPP test and the self-administration model. Moreover, both high-frequency and sham DBS group rats were able to establish significant food-induced place preference, and no significant difference was observed in the open field test and in the elevated plus-maze test between the two groups. Immunofluorescence staining and functional magnetic resonance imaging revealed that high-frequency DBS of the DRN could alter the activity and functional connectivity of brain regions related to addiction. These results indicate that high-frequency DBS of the DRN effectively inhibits methamphetamine priming-induced relapse and seeking behaviors in rats and provides a new target for the treatment of drug addiction.

    Abstract Herpetrione(HPE) is an effective compound that has been used in the treatment of liver diseases. To improve its dissolution and absorption, herpetrione nanosuspensions was prepared. Nanosuspensions were proved to achieve intact absorption in vivo. However, the transport mechanisms are not fully understood, especially lack of direct evidence of translocation of particulates. In this study, an environment-responsive dye, P4, was loaded into herpetrione amorphous nanoparticles (HPE-ANPs) to elucidate the absorption and transport mechanism of the nanoparticles. And the amount of HPE and nanoparticles in the samples were quantified using HPLC/LC-MS/MS and IVIS with the model of Caco-2 and Caco-2/HT29-MTX. Results demonstrated that HPE is mainly taken up by passive diffusion in the form of free drugs, while HPE-ANPs are internalized by an energy dependent active transport pathway or intracellular endocytosis. It is speculated that HPE-ANPs may change the original entry pathway of drug molecules. Furthermore, the presence of mucus layer and the use of HPMC E15 may contribute to drug absorption to some extent. Transcellular transport study indicates that HPE-ANPs has a poor absorption. In conclusion, the differences in the absorption behavior trends of HPE-ANPs are caused by the difference in particle properties and the form of existence of the drug.
