Abstract Although learners' success in learning has generally been attributed to cognitive factors, non-cognitive issues in education should be taken into consideration in the process of learning which affects learners' achievement. One of these issues, which become popular among researchers in the previous decade is grit, that is, posited as passion and perseverance thanks to its enduring quality and the other is self-efficacy. Another factor is goal commitment that talks about the way to reach a goal or insistent determinations to achieve a goal. The proposed review attempts to focus on these three factors in regulating students' learning achievement. Accordingly, some educational suggestions are offered for teachers, students, and syllabus designers.

Abstract Cemento-ossifying fibroma (COF) is a mesenchymal benign odontogenic tumor, which may lead to impacted or ectopic permanent teeth. Autotransplantation of teeth is a surgical process, in which a tooth is transplanted from one position to another in the same individual. This method can effectively restore the patient's mastication and aesthetics and is feasible in replacing missing teeth. This study reports a case of simultaneous COF resection combined with heterotopic canine autotransplantation to repair dentition defect, which effectively promotes the restoration of bone continuity and stability and achieves immediate and long-term aesthetic function requirements.

Abstract Manholes are important structures in urban storm drainage systems connecting roads and underground drainage networks, and they are also an important part of the research on improving urban resistance to storm flooding. Due to cost and space constraints, most of the existing experimental data on manholes come from scale model experiments obtained by scaling according to Froude's similarity criterion, and there is a lack of validation based on full-size experimental data. This also leads to inconsistencies in the form and parameter values of the manhole flow exchange equations derived from different experiments. To remedy this deficiency, a full-scale urban drainage engineering physics model was developed in this study with the aim of investigating the flow exchange of surface water as it flows through manholes into the sewer system. Experiments were conducted under steady flow conditions and compared with predictions from the existing models. The results show that the predictions of the existing model deviate significantly from the measured values when the flow is between free weir flow and submerged orifice flow. Therefore, we constructed a weighting equation based on weir and orifice flows and found that the weighting coefficients decayed exponentially during the transition from weir to orifice flow.

Abstract In vehicle navigation, it is quite common that the dynamic system is subject to various constraints, which increases the difficulty in nonlinear filtering. To address this issue, this paper presents a new constrained cubature particle filter (CCPF) for vehicle navigation. Firstly, state constraints are incorporated in the importance sampling process of the traditional cubature particle filter to enhance the accuracy of the importance density function. Subsequently, the Euclidean distance is employed to optimize the resampling process by adjusting particle weights to avoid particle degradation. Further, the convergence of the proposed CCPF is also rigorously proved, showing that the posterior probability function is converged when the particle number

Abstract Objective: Sleep problems are prevalent during adolescence, and modifying dietary factors may contribute to better sleep outcomes in adolescents. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of modifiable dietary factors on sleep health among adolescents.
Methods: A systematic search of records from six databases including MEDLINE, PubMed, Embase, Scopus, CINAHL, and the CENTRAL from inception up to November 2023, identified 33 peer-reviewed publications that assessed the relationship between modifiable dietary factors and sleep outcomes in adolescents aged 12-18 years. The NIH Quality Assessment Tools were used to assess the quality of the included studies. Meta-analysis was performed on a sub-group of studies (n = 6) to ascertain the effect of dietary factors on sleep health.
Results: Although the included studies were predominantly cross-sectional and exhibited heterogeneity, relying mainly on self-reported measures, it was observed that consumption of healthy foods was consistently linked with improved sleep outcomes among adolescents, whereas higher intake of fat-rich or sugar-rich foods and red meats or processed food was associated with poorer sleep features. The meta-analysis further substantiated that adolescents with higher caffeine intake faced increased odds of sleep problems (OR = 1.67, 95% CI: 1.28-2.17), while alcohol consumption was significantly associated with insomnia (OR = 1.17, 95% CI: 1.07-1.27).
Conclusion: Overall, despite high heterogeneity among studies, this systematic review underscores the promising role of healthy dietary factors in enhancing both the quality and quantity of sleep in adolescents. The meta-analysis results also highlight that reducing caffeine and alcohol intake holds potential for supporting better sleep in this population. However, further validation through intervention studies is warranted.

Abstract Gaze estimation is an important fundamental task in computer vision and medical research. Existing works have explored various effective paradigms and modules for precisely predicting eye gazes. However, the uncertainty for gaze estimation, e.g., input uncertainty and annotation uncertainty, have been neglected in previous research. Existing models use a deterministic function to estimate the gaze, which cannot reflect the actual situation in gaze estimation. To address this issue, we propose a probabilistic framework for gaze estimation by modeling the input uncertainty and annotation uncertainty. We first utilize probabilistic embeddings to model the input uncertainty, representing the input image as a Gaussian distribution in the embedding space. Based on the input uncertainty modeling, we give an instance-wise uncertainty estimation to measure the confidence of prediction results, which is critical in practical applications. Then, we propose a new label distribution learning method, probabilistic annotations, to model the annotation uncertainty, representing the raw hard labels as Gaussian distributions. In addition, we develop an Embedding Distribution Smoothing (EDS) module and a hard example mining method to improve the consistency between embedding distribution and label distribution. We conduct extensive experiments, demonstrating that the proposed approach achieves significant improvements over baseline and state-of-the-art methods on two widely used benchmark datasets, GazeCapture and MPIIFaceGaze, as well as our collected dataset using mobile devices.
