    Abstract TRPV1 is a non-selective channel receptor widely expressed in skin tissues, including keratinocytes, peripheral sensory nerve fibers and immune cells. It is activated by a variety of exogenous or endogenous inflammatory mediators, triggering neuropeptide release and neurogenic inflammatory response. Previous studies have shown that TRPV1 is closely related to the occurrence and/or development of skin aging and various chronic inflammatory skin diseases, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, rosacea, herpes zoster, allergic contact dermatitis and prurigo nodularis. This review summarizes the structure of the TRPV1 channel and discusses the expression of TRPV1 in the skin as well as its role of TRPV1 in skin aging and inflammatory skin diseases.

    Abstract Objective: This study introduces a minimally invasive technique for efficient three-column reconstruction, augmentation, and stabilization of osteoporotic thoracolumbar burst fractures (OTLBFs).
    Methods: Sixty-eight patients with OTLBFs and no neurological deficits were included from July 2019 to September 2020. The patients were divided into two groups: the simple percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) group (n = 32) and the percutaneous kyphoplasty combined with pediculoplasty (PKCPP) group (n = 36). The clinical and radiological outcomes were assessed during a minimum 1-year follow-up period. Clinical outcomes were assessed via the visual analog scale (VAS) and modified MacNab grading criteria. The radiological outcomes included the Cobb angle (CA), anterior wall height (AWH), and posterior wall height (PWH). The surgery duration, postoperative analgesic dosage, length of hospital stay, and complications were recorded.
    Results: Surgery duration was not significantly different between the two groups (P > 0.05). The PKCPP group had a lower analgesic dosage and shorter hospital stay (P < 0.05). Postoperatively, the PKCPP group exhibited better VAS scores and modified MacNab scale scores (P < 0.05), but the differences at the last follow-up assessment were not significant (P > 0.05). Postoperative CA, AWH, and PWH correction were not significantly different on the first postoperative day (P > 0.05). However, the PKCPP group had significantly less CA and PWH loss of correction at the last follow-up visit (P < 0.05). The PKCPP group had significantly fewer complications (P < 0.05).
    Conclusions: The PKCPP technique complements simple PKP for OTLBFs. It quickly relieves pain, maintains the vertebral body height and Cobb angle, ensures cement stabilization, and offers more stable three-column support.

    Abstract The changes in the occurrence and intensity of precipitation have been widely observed around the world. However, exploring the causes of changes in precipitation remains challenging. To better explore the causes of precipitation changes, the evaporation sources of such precipitation were identified. The region from which evaporative sources contribute to precipitation in a sink region is called the precipitationshed. Based on the ERA5 reanalysis data, we identified the seasonal precipitationshed in the Pearl River Delta (PRD), one of the most densely urbanized regions in the world, using the Water Accounting Model‐2layer. The precipitationshed in the PRD has larger variation in summer and autumn, and differences in the responses of different types of precipitation to the change in the precipitationshed were identified. In autumn, results show that light precipitation increases when the evaporation contribution from the south is enhanced while heavy precipitation increases when the evaporation contribution from the northeast is enhanced in the PRD. The precipitationshed is influenced by natural climate variability. The identified differences in the response of different types of precipitation to the change in the precipitationshed further help us to better understand the influence of natural climate variability on precipitation. The influences of El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO), Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD), and North Atlantic Oscillation on different types of seasonal precipitation were investigated. For example, results show that more heavy precipitation is expected in the PRD in summer when the positive phase of IOD and the negative phase of ENSO occur simultaneously.

    Abstract Infectious diseases are commonly demonstrated to be caused by polymicrobial infections, which correlate with increased infection severity and poorer clinical outcomes. In this study, we report a rare intestinal coinfection case of non-O1/O139 Vibrio cholerae and Salmonella typhimurium, along with V. cholerae septicemia. The data of quantitative real-time PCR and competition assay showed that V. cholerae may present enhanced virulence in the presence of S. typhimurium, and exerted an inhibitory growth effect over S. typhimurium in vitro.

    Abstract The occurrence and progression of colorectal cancer (CRC) are closely related to intestinal microecological disorders. Butyrate, the representative of short chain fatty acids, possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, and its antitumor effect has been gradually paid attention to. In this study, azoxymethane/dextran sodium sulfate induced mouse CRC model was used to explore the role and mechanism of butyrate in regulating colon cancer and its intestinal microecological balance. Outcomes exhibited that butyrate alleviated weight loss, disease activity index, and survival in CRC mice and inhibited tumor number and progression. Further research revealed that butyrate restrained the aggregation of harmful while promoting the colonization of beneficial flora, such as Actinobacteriota, Bifidobacteriales and Muribaculacea through 16S rDNA sequence analysis. This study confirmed that butyrate can ameliorate CRC by repairing intestinal microecology, providing ideas and evidence for chemical prophylactic agents, such as butyrate to remedy tumors and regulate tumor microbiota.

    Abstract The heterogeneous gold(I)-catalyzed stereoselective thioallylation of electron-deficient alkynes with allyl sulfides has been achieved by using an MCM-41-immobilized sterically demanding NHC-gold(I) complex [MCM-41-IPrAuNTf₂] as the catalyst under mild conditions, delivering a wide variety of stereodefined tri- and tetrasubstituted functionalized vinyl sulfides in good to excellent yields. The new heterogeneous MCM-41-IPrAuNTf₂ catalyst exhibits an activity comparable to a homogeneous IPrAuNTf₂ complex and can be recovered via a simple filtration process and reused for at least seven consecutive cycles without any apparent loss of its catalytic activity and selectivity.

    Abstract As a major component of the cryosphere, permafrost plays important roles in the climate system and land surface processes of the Earth. Owing to the rapidly warming climate, permafrost over the globe has degraded in recent decades. However, quantifying the distribution and temporal changes in permafrost is challenging. In this study, we modified the widely used surface frost number model by considering the spatial distribution of soil hydrothermal properties and then revisited the spatiotemporal patterns of permafrost distribution and its changes during the past decades (1961-2017) in China. We found that the modified surface frost number model performs well in simulating permafrost extent in China, with the overall accuracy and kappa coefficients being 0.92 and 0.78 in the calibration (1980s) and 0.94 and 0.77 in the validation period (2000s). Based on the modified model, we also found that permafrost extent in China demonstrated a significant decreasing trend over the past decades, especially on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP), with a trend of -1.15 × 10
