Abstract In this study, we report on a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation of the chemical vapor deposition reactor of silicon carbide (SiC) in the methyltrichlorosilane (MTS, CH3SiCl3)/H2 system. The formation of SiC thin film is controlled by various process parameters, such as temperature and pressure. In this study, we propose a reaction mechanism of MTS decomposition to SiC growth on a substrate surface for CVD reactors in the CH3SiCl3(MTS)/H2 system. The reaction mechanism has two gas-phase pyrolysis reactions and one SiC film formation reaction. However, we individually build and validate MTS decomposition and SiC growth models to reduce uncertainty. An in-house version of reactingFoam, a reactive flow solver within OpenFOAM v2006, was used as the simulation tool. Our model accurately reproduced MTS decomposition for T = 1100–1350 K and [H2]/[MTS] = 2.65–14 at p = 101,325 Pa. Then, the MTS decomposition model was coupled with the SiC growth model, and the coupled model was applied to the SiC deposition data. The model could reproduce multiple datasets through validation studies.

Abstract A 60-year-old man presented with sustained supraventricular tachycardia. Atrial tachycardia (AT), with the earliest atrial activation (EAA) occurring at the ostium of the coronary sinus, was reproducibly induced. Three-dimensional electroanatomical mapping (3DEAM) using a 3.5-mm distal electrode tip linear catheter (Thermocool) and radiofrequency energy (RF) was performed at the fractionated atrial electrogram site. It preceded at 30 ms to the EAA but did not terminate AT. Further 3DEAM using a multielectrode mapping catheter (Pentaray) demonstrated a centrifugal propagation pattern at the boundary zone between the right atrium and inferior vena cava. RF application here terminated AT, which then became non-inducible.

Abstract We herein report a 90-year-old immunocompromised woman who developed right upper limb weakness and right ptosis with a miotic pupil 1 week after oral therapy for zoster on the right T2 dermatome. The right pupil was dilated with instillation of 1% apraclonidine, indicating Horner's syndrome. The patient was treated with intravenous acyclovir and methylprednisolone. Focal weakness related to zoster, generally known as segmental zoster paresis, improved over five months, but Horner's syndrome remained. We suggest that aggressive intravenous treatment should be considered for rare cases of zoster that occur with a combination of these two neurological conditions.
