Abstract A smart meta-superconductor Bi(Pb)SrCaCuO (B(P)SCCO) may increase the critical transition temperature ( T C ) of B(P)SCCO by electroluminescence (EL) energy injection of inhomogeneous phases. However, the increase amplitude Δ T C ( <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><mi mathvariant="sans-serif">Δ</mi><msub><mi>T</mi><mi>C</mi></msub><mo>=</mo><msub><mi>T</mi><mi>C</mi></msub><mo>−</mo><msub><mi>T</mi><mrow><mi>C</mi><mo>,</mo><mi>p</mi><mi>u</mi><mi>r</mi><mi>e</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></semantics></math> ) of T C is relatively small. In this study, a smart meta-superconductor B(P)SCCO with different matrix sizes was designed. Three kinds of raw materials with different particle sizes were used, and different series of Y 2 O 3 :Sm 3+ , Y 2 O 3 , Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ , and Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ +Ag-doped samples and pure B(P)SCCO were prepared. Results indicated that the T C of the Y 2 O 3 or Y 2 O 3 :Sm 3+ non-luminescent dopant doping sample is lower than that of pure B(P)SCCO. However, the T C of the Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ +Ag or Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ luminescent inhomogeneous phase doping sample is higher than that of pure B(P)SCCO. With the decrease of the raw material particle size from 30 to 5 μm, the particle size of the B(P)SCCO superconducting matrix in the prepared samples decreases, and the doping content of the Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ +Ag or Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ increases from 0.2% to 0.4%. Meanwhile, the increase of the inhomogeneous phase content enhances the Δ T C . When the particle size of raw material is 5 μm, the doping concentration of the luminescent inhomogeneous phase can be increased to 0.4%. At this time, the zero-resistance temperature and onset transition temperature of the Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ +Ag doped sample are 4 and 6.3 K higher than ...

Abstract The relation between enhanced superconductivity in monolayer FeSe grown on SrTiO3 and the large nematicity in multilayer FeSe on SrTiO3 remains not well understood. Here, the authors observe a long-range smectic phase in bilayer FeSe films but vanishes in monolayer FeSe, providing a new instability to help enhance the superconductivity.

Abstract: ... an incommensurate magnetic structure below T N, and all magnetic reflections can be indexed with a propagation ...

Abstract Magnetoelectric multiferroics have attracted enormous attention in the past years because of their high potential for applications in electronic devices, which arises from the intrinsic coupling between magnetic and ferroelectric ordering parameters. The initial finding in TbMnO3 has triggered the search for other multiferroics with higher ordering temperatures and strong magnetoelectric coupling for applications. To date, spin-driven multiferroicity is found mainly in oxides, as well as in a few halogenides. We report multiferroic properties for synthetic melanothallite Cu2OCl2, which is the first discovery of multiferroicity in a transition metal oxyhalide. Measurements of pyrocurrent and the dielectric constant in Cu2OCl2 reveal ferroelectricity below the Néel temperature of ~70 K. Thus, melanothallite belongs to a new class of multiferroic materials with an exceptionally high critical temperature. Powder neutron diffraction measurements reveal an incommensurate magnetic structure below T N, and all magnetic reflections can be indexed with a propagation vector [0.827(7), 0, 0], thus discarding the claimed pyrochlore-like "all-in-all-out" spin structure for Cu2OCl2, and indicating that this transition metal oxyhalide is, indeed, a spin-induced multiferroic material.

Abstract Striated muscle is activated by myosin- and actin-linked processes, with the latter being regulated through changes in the position of tropomyosin relative to the actin surface. The C-terminal region of cardiac troponin T (TnT), a tropomyosin-associated protein, is required for full TnT inactivation at low Ca

Abstract The USH2A variant c.2276 G > T (p.(Cys759Phe)) has been described by many authors as a frequent cause of autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa (arRP). However, this is in contrast with the description of two asymptomatic individuals homozygous for this variant. We therefore assessed pathogenicity of the USH2A c.2276 G > T variant using extensive genetic and functional analyses. Whole genome sequencing and optical genome mapping were performed for three arRP cases homozygous for USH2A c.2276 G > T to exclude alternative genetic causes. A minigene splice assay was designed to investigate the effect of c.2276 G > T on pre-mRNA splicing, in presence or absence of the nearby c.2256 T > C variant. Moreover, an ush2a

Abstract Background: Food allergy has become a global public health problem. This study aimed to explore the possible anti-allergic effect of vitamin C (VC). A rat basophilic leukemia (RBL)-2H3 cell degranulation model was used to assess the effect of VC on degranulation in vitro, and an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced BALB/c mouse allergy model was used to assess the anti-allergy effect of VC in vivo.
Results: In vitro, VC significantly attenuated the release of β-hexosaminidase, tryptase and histamine, and also reduced cytokine production (interleukins 4 and 6, tumor necrosis factor α) significantly (P < 0.05), with the inhibitory effect demonstrating a positive correlation with VC dose. In vivo, compared with the OVA group, the levels of serum immunoglobulins E and G
Conclusion: VC exerted an anti-allergic effect through inhibiting degranulation and regulating T

Abstract Whether the normal state electronic correlations in cuprates are responsible for superconductivity remains elusive. Here, Li et al. report that such correlations turn into a renormalized coherent state starting well above the superconducting transition, and it leads to a strengthened superconductive pairing.
