Abstract Efficient geometric evaluation of roads and tunnels is crucial to traffic management, especially in post-disaster situations. This paper reports on a study of the geometric feature detection method based on multi-sensor mobile laser scanning (MLS) system data. A portable, low-cost system that can be mounted on vehicles and utilizes integrated laser scanning devices was developed. Coordinate systems and timestamps from numerous devices were merged to create 3D point clouds of objects being measured. Feature points reflecting the geometric information of measuring objects were retrieved based on changes in the point cloud's shape, which contributed to measuring the road width, vertical clearance, and tunnel cross section. Self-developed software was used to conduct the measuring procedure, and a real-time online visualized platform was designed to reconstruct 3D models of the measured objects, forming a 3D digital map carrying the obtained geometric information. Finally, a case study was carried out. The measurement results of several representative nodes are discussed here, verifying the robustness of the proposed system. In addition, the main sources of interference are also discussed.

Abstract The genus Chanohirata Hayashi & Machida, including the herein synonymized monotypic genus Reticuluma Cheng & Li, is the second most speciose genus in the tribe Penthimiini after Penthimia Germar and is almost exclusively endemic to China. This study presents the first phylogeny of Chanohirata based on three mitochondrial markers (cytochrome c oxidase subunit I and II and 16S ribosomal RNA) and one nuclear fragment (28S ribosomal RNA). Reticuluma syn. n. is recovered nested within Chanohirata with strong support. Reticuluma is, therefore, proposed as a junior synonym of Chanohirata, and a new combination is proposed: Chanohirata citrana (Cheng & Li) comb. n. Molecular species delimitation analyses were conducted by combining six molecular delimitation methods with morphological evidence. The results of the species delimitation analyses confirm the status of eight described species of Chanohirata and support the recognition of three new species: Chanohirata cornicula Wang & Zhang sp. n., Chanohirata elongata Wang & Zhang sp. n. and Chanohirata serrata Wang & Zhang sp. n. Molecular dating and biogeographic analyses suggest that Chanohirata likely originated during the late Eocene in southern China. During the late Miocene to early Pleistocene, the uplift of the Himalayas and Tibetan Plateau and climatic oscillations probably triggered several dispersal and vicariance events in Chanohirata lineages, leading to most speciation events.

Abstract Background: In the context of esophageal cancers, lymph nodes located along the left recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) exhibit significant involvement, posing significant challenges for lymphadenectomy. The objective of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of a novel technique for lymphadenectomy called "elastic suspension of left RLN" method, comparing it with the conventional approach.
Methods: Between January 2016 and June 2020, a total of 393 patients who underwent minimally invasive esophagectomy with gastroplasty and cervical esophagogastric anastomosis were enrolled in the study. Among them, 291 patients underwent the "elastic suspension of left RLN" method, while 102 patients underwent the conventional method. We compared the number of harvested lymph nodes along the left RLN and assessed postoperative complications between these two groups. Additionally, the overall survival (OS) rate was calculated and analyzed for the entire cohort.
Results: In comparison to the conventional group, the elastic suspension group exhibited a higher yield of harvested lymph nodes along the left RLN (5.36 vs 3.07, P < 0.001). Moreover, the incidence of postoperative hoarseness was lower in the elastic suspension group (10.65% vs 18.63%, P = 0.038). The average duration of lymphadenectomy along the left RLN was 11.85 min in the elastic suspension group and 11.51 min in the conventional group, although this difference was not statistically significant (P = 0.091). Notably, the overall 5-year OS was markedly higher in the elastic suspension group compared to the conventional group (64.1% vs. 50.1%, P = 0.020).
Conclusions: The findings suggest that the novel "elastic suspension of left RLN" method for lymphadenectomy along the left RLN in minimally invasive esophagectomy is both safe and effective. This technique holds promise for widespread adoption in esophagectomy procedures.

Abstract Exposure to bioaerosol contamination has detrimental effects on human health. Recent advances in ATP bioluminescence provide more opportunities for the quantitative detection of bioaerosols. Since almost all active organisms can produce ATP, the amount of airborne microbes can be easily measured by detecting ATP-driven bioluminescence. The accurate evaluation of microorganisms mainly relies on following the four key steps: sampling and enrichment of airborne microbes, lysis for ATP extraction, enzymatic reaction, and measurement of luminescence intensity. To enhance the effectiveness of ATP bioluminescence, each step requires innovative strategies and continuous improvement. In this review, we summarized the recent advances in the quantitative detection of airborne microbes based on ATP bioluminescence, which focuses on the advanced strategies for improving sampling devices combined with ATP bioluminescence. Meanwhile, the optimized and innovative strategies for the remaining three key steps of the ATP bioluminescence assay are highlighted. The aim is to reawaken the prosperity of ATP bioluminescence and promote its wider utilization for efficient, real-time, and accurate detection of airborne microbes.

Abstract Proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC) technology is a promising new mode of targeted protein degradation with significant transformative implications for the clinical treatment of different diseases. Nevertheless, while this technology offers numerous advantages, on-target off-tumour toxicity in healthy cells remains a major challenge for clinical application in cancer therapy. Strategies are presently being explored to optimize degradation activity with cellular selectivity to minimize undesirable side effects. PROTAC-antibody conjugates and PROTAC-aptamer conjugates are unique innovations that combine PROTACs and biomacromolecules. These novel PROTAC-biomacromolecule conjugates (PBCs) can enhance the targetability of PROTACs and reduce their off-target side-effects. The combination of potent PROTACs and highly safe biomacromolecules will pioneer an emerging trend in targeted protein degradation. In our review, we have summarized recent advances in PBCs, discussed current challenges, and outlooked opportunities for future research in the field.

Abstract MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in articular cartilage damage in osteoarthritis (OA). However, the biological role of miRNAs in the chondrogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) remains largely unclear. Rabbit bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (rBMSCs) were isolated, cultured, and identified. Afterwards, rBMSCs were induced to chondrogenic differentiation, examined by Alcian Blue staining. Differentially expressed miRNAs were identified in rBMSCs between induced and non-induced groups by miRNA sequencing analysis, part of which was validated via PCR assay. Cell viability and apoptosis were assessed by CCK-8 assay and Hoechst staining. Saffron O staining was utilized to assess chondrocyte hyperplasia. The expression of specific chondrogenic markers, including COL2A1, SOX9, Runx2, MMP-13, Aggrecan, and BMP-2, were measured at mRNA and protein levels. The association between beta-transducin repeat containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase (BTRC) and miR-10a-5p in the miRNA family from rabbit (ocu-miR-10a-5p) was determined by luciferase reporter assay. A total of 76 differentially expressed miRNAs, including 52 downregulated and 24 upregulated miRNAs, were identified in rBMSCs from the induced group. Inhibition of ocu-miR-10a-5p suppressed rBMSC viability and chondrogenic differentiation, as well as downregulated the expression of β-catenin, SOX9, COL2A1, MMP-13, and Runx2. BTRC was predicted and confirmed as a target of ocu-miR-10a-5p. Overexpression of BTRC rescued the promoting impacts of overexpressed ocu-miR-10a-5p on chondrogenic differentiation of rBMSCs and β-catenin expression. Taken together, our data suggested that ocu-miR-10a-5p facilitated rabbit BMSC survival and chondrogenic differentiation by activating Wnt/β-catenin signaling through BTRC.
