Abstract Visible-infrared person re-identification (VI-ReID) is a cross-modality retrieval issue aiming to match the same pedestrian between visible and infrared cameras. Thus, the modality discrepancy presents a significant challenge for this task. Most methods employ different networks to extract features that are invariant between modalities. While we propose a novel channel semantic mutual learning network (CSMN), which attributes the difference in semantics between modalities to the difference at the channel level, it optimises the semantic consistency between channels from two perspectives: the local inter-channel semantics and the global inter-modal semantics. Meanwhile, we design a channel-level auto-guided double metric loss (CADM) to learn modality-invariant features and the sample distribution in a fine-grained manner. We conducted experiments on RegDB and SYSU-MM01, and the experimental results validate the superiority of CSMN. Especially on RegDB datasets, CSMN improves the current best performance by 3.43% and 0.5% on the Rank-1 score and mINP value, respectively. The code is available at https://github.com/013zyj/CSMN.

Abstract Hierarchical structured data are very common for data mining and other tasks in real-life world. How to select the optimal scale combination from a multi-scale decision table is critical for subsequent tasks. At present, the models for calculating the optimal scale combination mainly include lattice model, complement model and stepwise optimal scale selection model, which are mainly based on consistent multi-scale decision tables. The optimal scale selection model for inconsistent multi-scale decision tables has not been given. Based on this, firstly, this paper introduces the concept of complement and lattice model proposed by Li and Hu. Secondly, based on the concept of positive region consistency of inconsistent multi-scale decision tables, the paper proposes complement model and lattice model based on positive region consistent and gives the algorithm. Finally, some numerical experiments are employed to verify that the model has the same properties in processing inconsistent multi-scale decision tables as the complement model and lattice model in processing consistent multi-scale decision tables. And for the consistent multi-scale decision table, the same results can be obtained by using the model based on positive region consistent. However, the lattice model based on positive region consistent is more time-consuming and costly. The model proposed in this paper provides a new theoretical method for the optimal scale combination selection of the inconsistent multi-scale decision table.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the effect of Dahuang Mudan Tang (, DHMD) and allopurinol on the treatment of chronic kidney disease staged G1-G3b patients with hyperuricemia and to provide novel insights into the clinical management of chronic kidney disease complications.
Methods: A total of 80 chronic kidney patients staged G1-G3b with hyperuricemia were randomly grouped to receive single allopurinol treatment (control) and combined treatment with DHMD (treated) for 8 weeks. The kidney function and proteinuria indicators of patients were compared between pre-and post-treatment. The oxidative stress and inflammation responses were evaluated by corresponding indicators and cytokines. The clinical efficiency rate and adverse reaction events were also summarized to assess the therapeutic efficiency and safety.
Results: The kidney function and proteinuria of enrolled patients were alleviated after their therapies, behaved as the increasing estimated glomerular filtration rate and decreasing serum creatinine, serum uric acid, urea nitrogen, 24 h urine protein levels. On the other hand, the malondialdehyde level and pro-inflammation cytokines were suppressed by the therapies, and the superoxide dismutase was found to be significantly enhanced. Patients in the treated groups showed a better recovery in kidney function, proteinuria, oxidative stress, and inflammation response. Moreover, patients in the treated group showed a higher efficiency rate (95%) and fewer adverse reaction events (5%).
Conclusions: The combination of allopurinol with DHMD significantly promoted the recovery of chronic kidney disease stage G1-G3b patients with hyperuricemia, which can be considered a novel clinical therapeutic strategy.

Abstract Nucleic acids, including DNA and RNA, have been considered as powerful and functional biomaterials owing to their programmable structure, good biocompatibility, and ease of synthesis. However, traditional nucleic acid-based probes have always suffered from inherent limitations, including restricted cell internalization efficiency and structural instability. In recent years, DNA nanotechnology has shown great promise for the applications of bioimaging and drug delivery. The attractive superiorities of DNA nanostructures, such as precise geometries, spatial addressability, and improved biostability, have enabled them to be a novel category of nucleic acid delivery systems for biomedical applications. In this review, we introduce the development of DNA nanotechnology, and highlight recent advances of DNA nanostructure-based delivery systems for cellular imaging and therapeutic applications. Finally, we propose the challenges as well as opportunities for the future development of DNA nanotechnology in biomedical research.

Abstract The electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions are pivotal in shaping the electrical and thermal properties, and in particular, determining the carrier dynamics and transport behaviors in optoelectronic devices. By employing pump-probe spectroscopy and ultrafast microscopy, the consequential role of e-ph coupling strength in the spatiotemporal evolution of hot electrons is elucidated. Thermal transport across the metallic interface is controlled to regulate effective e-ph coupling factor G

Abstract The perfectly matched layer (PML) is one of the most popular absorbing boundary conditions for simulating seismic waves. In theory, the PML can absorb incident waves at any incident angle and any frequency in a medium. However, numerical reflections will be generated after the PML has been discretized. Therefore, how to reduce the reflections of discrete PML has been a research topic for more than 2 decades. In this paper, we adopt the reflectionless discrete PML (RD-PML) for seismic wave and implement the RD-PML based on the acoustic wave equation, and then compare its absorbing performance with that of the conventional discrete PML. Our numerical experiments show that the RD-PML has advantages over the conventional discrete PML. In homogeneous model, a thick enough RD-PML can effectively eliminate reflections. In heterogeneous model, a thin-layer RD-PML can obtain better absorbing performance even than the thick-layer conventional discrete PML. The absorbing performance of the RD-PML can be improved by using the periodic boundary without increasing the amount of computation and memory. RD-PML provides a new perspective to understand the discretization of PML, and may play an important role in promoting the development of PML technology.

Abstract The turn of contemporary visual culture has led to the expansion of the connotation and scope of visual communication design (VCD) education, the generation of new artistic concepts and forms, and the great changes in the subject education system. VCD instruction now has an enhanced teaching environment and operational platform because of the rapid advancement of digital technology. Digital technology is expected to break through traditional learning methods in the future and will be more widely integrated into VCD courses. A topic that must be addressed and explored in the reform and growth of VCD education is how to build a fairer and more inclusive college art education subject system. Therefore, it is particularly important to design a complete VCD teaching evaluation system. In this paper, artificial intelligence technology is applied to the teaching quality evaluation (TQE) system, and a scientific and reliable TQE model is obtained. The main works of this paper are as follows: (1) analyze the background and significance of TQE research, and systematically expound the domestic and foreign research status of TQE, genetic algorithm, and neural network. (2) Using an adaptive mutation evolutionary method, this research builds a TQE system for the VCD course and produces a BPNN model. The adaptive mutation genetic algorithm’s convergence speed is considerably faster than the regular genetic algorithms, the optimized neural network’s performance is also superior, and the model has a faster convergence time and better prediction accuracy.

Abstract In recent years, frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar has been widely used in automatic driving, settlement monitoring and other fields. The range accuracy is determined by the estimation of the signal beat frequency. The existing algorithms are unable to distinguish between signal components with similar frequencies. To address this problem, this study proposed an enhanced root-MUSIC algorithm based on matrix reconstruction. Firstly, based on the sparsity of a singular value vector, a convex optimization problem was formulated to identify a singular value vector. Two algorithms were proposed to solve the convex optimization problem according to whether the standard deviation of noise needed to be estimated, from which an optimized singular value vector was obtained. Then, a signal matrix was reconstructed using an optimized singular value vector, and the Hankel structure of the signal matrix was restored by utilizing the properties of the Hankel matrix. Finally, the conventional root-MUSIC algorithm was utilized to estimate the signal beat frequency. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm improved the frequency resolution of multi-frequency signals in a noisy environment, which is beneficial to improve the multi-target range accuracy and resolution capabilities of FMCW radar.
