Abstract Objective: We analyzed endophytic fungi from 4 bryophyte species: Mnium sp. , Marchantia polymorpha, Polytrichum commune and Hylocomium splendens, collected from Dawei Mountain, Southwest of China, to study the diversity of fungal endophytes of bryophytes in different environment and their roles in the evolution from aquaqtic plant to terrestrial plant.
Methods: Endophytic fungi were isolated by culturable method and identified to species or genera level based on morphological characteristics and molecular analysis.
Results: Nine hundred fungal endophytes were isolated from 630 tissue segments of 4 different plants. All endophytes were identified to 57 taxon. Among them, Xylaria, Colletotrichum, Penicillium and Trichoderma were the dominant genera. The Shannon index (H') and similarity coefficients (CS) of endophytic fungi from 4 plants were 1.80 - 3.22 and 0.409 - 0.613, respectively, higher than those of bryophytes growing in extreme environments.
Conclusion: The diversity and richness of endophytes from 4 bryophytes in Dawei Mountain are similar to those of plants growing in the similar environment.

Abstract The effective capture of radioiodine is vital to the development of the nuclear industry and ecological environmental protection. There is, therefore, a continuously growing research exploration in various types of solid-state materials for iodine capture. During the last decade, the potential of using macrocycle and cage-based supramolecular materials in effective uptake and separation of radioactive iodine has been demonstrated. Interest in the application of these materials in iodine capture originates from their diversified porous characteristics, abundant host-guest chemistry, high iodine affinity and adsorption capacity, high stability in various environments, facile modification and functionalization, and intrinsic structural flexibility, among other attributes. Herein, recent progress in macrocycle and cage-based solid-state materials, including pure discrete macrocycles and cages, and their polymeric forms, for iodine capture is summarized and discussed with an emphasis on iodine capture capacities, mechanisms, and design strategies.

Abstract Purpose: With the increasing prevalence of smart phones, adolescent smartphone addiction has garnered significant attention from researchers. Previous studies have revealed that smartphone addiction is associated with various internalization and externalization problems. Therefore, this present study aims to investigate the risk factors contributing to adolescent smartphone addiction.
Methods: Study 1 recruited a sample of 540, 690, and 470 Chinese students aged between 10-17 years for exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and predictive validity analysis of the social pain scale. Study 2 utilized data from a sample of 718 Chinese students aged between 10-17 years to examine the measurement model used revised social pain scale, smartphone addiction scale, harsh parenting scale, and depression sub-scale.
Results: The present study revealed that (1)The Social Pain Scale had good applicability in Chinese adolescents; (2) There were significant, positive correlations among harsh parenting, smartphone addiction, depression and social pain; (3) Social pain and depression played a partially serial mediating role in the relationship between harsh parenting and smartphone addiction, and similarly the relationship between paternal harsh parenting and smartphone addiction, while a completely serial mediating role in the relationship between maternal harsh parenting and smartphone addiction.
Conclusion: This study provides a direct path (improving parenting style) and an indirect path (reducing social pain to reduce depression) regarding interventions for adolescents with smartphone addiction, and establishes a basis for improving the situation of adolescent smartphone addiction.

Abstract BACKGROUND: Metal oxides are promising sulfur host materials because of their superior adsorption ability. Based on this theme, ceric dioxide (CeO₂) nanospheres with mesoporous structure were synthesized and designed as host materials to form CeO₂ nanospheres/sulfur (CO‐NSs/S) composites. RESULTS: The as‐prepared CO‐NSs/S composites with sulfur content of 71% exhibited an initial high discharge capacity of 1396 mAh g⁻¹ at the current density of 0.1 C. In addition, an excellent cycling stability with a reversible capacity of 678 mAh g⁻¹ was obtained at 2 C after 500 discharge/charge cycles. CONCLUSION: The advanced improvements of electrochemical performance are ascribed to the presence of metal oxide ceric dioxide nanospheres with mesoporous structure, which could not only inhibit the dissolution and migration of soluble polysulfide during the electrochemical cycles, but also improve the electronic conductivity of the element sulfur. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry

Abstract Fatty acyl-CoA reductase (FAR) is an important NADPH-dependent enzyme that can produce primary alcohol from fatty acyl-CoA or fatty acyl-carrier proteins as substrates. It plays a pivotal role in plant growth, development, and stress resistance. Herein, we performed genome-wide identification and expression analysis of FAR members in rice using bioinformatics methods. A total of eight

Abstract In order to achieve effective monitoring of concrete structures for sound structural health, the addition of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into cementitious materials offers a promising solution for fabricating CNT-modified smart concrete with self-sensing ability. This study investigated the influences of CNT dispersion method, water/cement (W/C) ratio, and concrete constituents on the piezoelectric properties of CNT-modified cementitious materials. Three CNT dispersion methods (direct mixing, sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate (NaDDBS) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) surface treatment), three W/C ratios (0.4, 0.5, and 0.6), and three concrete constituent compositions (pure cement, cement/sand, and cement/sand/coarse aggregate) were considered. The experimental results showed that CNT-modified cementitious materials with CMC surface treatment had valid and consistent piezoelectric responses to external loading. The piezoelectric sensitivity improved significantly with increased W/C ratio and reduced progressively with the addition of sand and coarse aggregates.
