Abstract The p_{T}-differential production cross sections of prompt D^{0}, Λ_{c}^{+}, and Σ_{c}^{0,++}(2455) charmed hadrons are measured at midrapidity (|y|<0.5) in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV. This is the first measurement of Σ_{c}^{0,++} production in hadronic collisions. Assuming the same production yield for the three Σ_{c}^{0,+,++} isospin states, the baryon-to-meson cross section ratios Σ_{c}^{0,+,++}/D^{0} and Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0} are calculated in the transverse momentum (p_{T}) intervals 2<p_{T}<12 and 1<p_{T}<24  GeV/<mark>c. Values significantly larger than in e^{+}e^{-} collisions are observed, indicating for the first time that baryon enhancement in hadronic collisions also extends to the Σ_{c}. The feed-down contribution to Λ_{c}^{+} production from Σ_{c}^{0,+,++} is also reported and is found to be larger than in e^{+}e^{-} collisions. The data are compared with predictions from event generators and other phenomenological models, providing a sensitive test of the different charm-hadronization mechanisms implemented in the models.

Abstract 'G' antigen belongs to the Rh family and it was first described by Allen and Tippet in 1958. Various anti-D, anti-C, and anti-G antibody combinations can be found in patients. Ruling out the presence of anti-D is important for administering RhIg prophylaxis in RhD-negative pregnant women to prevent hemolytic disease of fetus and newborn (HDFN). RhIg prophylaxis is not indicated in the presence of an anti-D antibody. Time-to-time monitoring and follow-up of cases of RhD-negative pregnant women with a multi-disciplinary approach including an obstetrician, neonatologist, and transfusion medicine specialist helps diagnose, manage, and monitor HDFN in such cases. This case report emphasizes the need for proper antibody identification (anti-G) and managing HDFN (with intrauterine transfusions and exchange transfusion) during the perinatal period.

Abstract Background and aims: Videolaryngoscopes are crucial components of a difficult airway cart. Issues of cost and availability, however, remain a problem. We compared the combination of an endoscope used in conjunction with the Macintosh laryngoscope with established videolaryngoscopes and the Macintosh laryngoscope using the intubation difficulty scale (IDS) score.
Materials and methods: A prospective randomised study including 120 adult patients, American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I-III, with an anticipated difficult airway scheduled for elective surgery were randomly allocated to one of four groups: Truview EVO2 (group 1), C-MAC D Blade (group 2), videoendoscope (group 3), or Macintosh laryngoscope (group 4). The IDS score was the primary outcome. Secondary outcomes included the Cormack-Lehane grade, time to tracheal intubation, haemodynamic responses, and adverse events.
Results: A significant proportion of patients in groups 2 and 3 had an IDS score of zero (73.3 and 70%, respectively). IDS scores were significantly lower in the C-MAC D blade and videoendoscope groups attributable to differences in parameters N4, N5 and N6 [C/L grades, lifting force and laryngeal pressure required] (
Conclusion: The performance of videoendoscope was comparable to C-MAC D Blade and superior to Truview EVO2 and Macintosh laryngoscope with respect to the IDS score and may thereby provide an effective alternative to commercial videolaryngoscopes in low resource settings.

Abstract Background and aims: CMAC video laryngoscope size 2 D-Blade has been recently introduced for management of pediatric difficult airway. Our primary outcome was to compare glottic view, intubation time, and ease of intubation with the size 2 Macintosh versus D-Blade of C-MAC video laryngoscope in simulated cervical injury in children.
Material and methods: This randomized crossover study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital of Northern India. Forty children of 4-14 years of age were enrolled in this study. After induction of anesthesia, video laryngoscopy was performed either with size 2 CMAC Macintosh (group M) or D-Blade (group D) with manual in-line stabilization. After removal of the first blade, second video laryngoscopy was performed with the alternative blade. Endotracheal intubation was done with the second laryngoscopy. Best glottic view, time for best glottic view, and difficulty in blade insertion were recorded during both the video laryngoscopies. During second video laryngoscopy, difficulty of tube insertion and time for intubation were noted.
Results: The glottic view grade was significantly better in group D compared with the group M (
Conclusions: Size 2 D-Blade of C-MAC video laryngoscope provided a better glottic view in children with simulated cervical spine injury as compared with CMAC Macintosh blade. Success of intubation, intubation time, and ease of intubation were comparable with both the blades.

Abstract Chemical investigation of secondary metabolites from a marine-derived actinomycete strain of the genus Kocuria, isolated from a stony coral Mycedium sp., led to the identification of two new alkanoylimidazoles, nocarimidazoles C (1) and D (2) as well as three known congeners, nocarimidazoles A (3) and B (4) and bulbimidazole A (5). Structure analysis of 1 and 2 by NMR and MS revealed that both are 4-alkanoyl-5-aminoimidazoles with a 6-methyloctanoyl or decanoyl chain, respectively. Two possible positions of the amino group on the imidazole rings (C-2 and C-5) posed a challenge in the structure study, which was settled by the measurement of 1JC,H coupling constants for comparison with those of synthetically prepared model imidazoles. The absolute configurations of the anteisoalkanoyl group present in 1, 4, and 5 were determined by low-temperature HPLC analysis of the degradation products labeled with a chiral anthracene reagent, which revealed that 1 is a mixture of the R- and S-enantiomers with a ratio of 73:27, 4 is the pure (S)-enantiomer, and 5 is the (S)-enantiomer with 98% ee. The present study illustrates the diversity in the stereochemistry of anteiso branching in bacterial metabolites. Compounds 1−4 were moderately antimicrobial against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi, with MIC ranges of 6.25–25 μg/mL.

Abstract The Rhesus G antigen is present on all RBCs that are C+ and also on most D+ RBCs. Due to this co-distribution of G with either C or D antigen, it mimics a reactivity pattern of anti C + anti D on Indirect Antiglobulin Test (IAT), though the role of Anti G in causing Hemolytic Disease of Newborn (HDN) is controversial. The differentiation of anti D, anti C, and anti G is essential particularly in pregnant females. We hereby report a rare case of anti G with anti D and anti C in a pregnant woman with emphasis on approach to identify anti D+C+G and its implications.

Abstract Background: Missed abortion (MA) can be managed expectantly, medically or surgically. Surgical management has been performed safely in the office setting by suction dilation and curettage (D&C). Prior studies suggest that intraoperative ultrasound guidance (USG) may reduce complications for first-trimester therapeutic abortion. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety of office D&C for MA using real-time USG.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 255 patients who underwent office D&C under USG for first trimester MA at a single university-affiliated fertility clinic during January 2011-December 2013. Transabdominal USG was utilized during the procedure and was immediately followed by a transvaginal ultrasound examination to confirm full evacuation. Intra- and postoperative complication rates were compared to previously published data.
Results: There were no intraoperative complications, including excessive blood loss or uterine perforation. Two of the 255 patients (0.87%) were diagnosed with RPOCs requiring uterine re-evacuation. This rate of RPOCs was superior to rates previously reported for D&Cs without USG (2.6-4.9%, P=0.046). There were no other post procedure complications identified.
Conclusions: We observed very low complications rate in Office-based D&C under USG, lower than those reported in the literature with unguided D&C.

Abstract Box C/D snoRNAs are known to guide site-specific ribose methylation of ribosomal RNA. Here, we demonstrate a novel and unexpected role for box C/D snoRNAs in guiding 18S rRNA acetylation in yeast. Our results demonstrate, for the first time, that the acetylation of two cytosine residues in 18S rRNA catalyzed by Kre33 is guided by two orphan box C/D snoRNAs-snR4 and snR45 -not known to be involved in methylation in yeast. We identified Kre33 binding sites on these snoRNAs as well as on the 18S rRNA, and demonstrate that both snR4 and snR45 establish extended bipartite complementarity around the cytosines targeted for acetylation, similar to pseudouridylation pocket formation by the H/ACA snoRNPs. We show that base pairing between these snoRNAs and 18S rRNA requires the putative helicase activity of Kre33, which is also needed to aid early pre-rRNA processing. Compared to yeast, the number of orphan box C/D snoRNAs in higher eukaryotes is much larger and we hypothesize that several of these may be involved in base-modifications.
