Abstract Objective: In this study, we introduce a surgical procedure for multiple-quadrant hemorrhoid crisis, namely Lingnan surgery, and discuss its clinical efficacy and safety.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of patients with acute incarcerated hemorrhoids who underwent Lingnan surgery at the Anorectal Department of Yunan County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Guangdong Province from 2017 to 2021. The baseline data, preoperative condition, and postoperative condition of each patient were recorded in detail.
Results: A total of 44 patients were studied. There were no cases of massive hemorrhage, wound infection, wound nonunion, anal stenosis, abnormal anal defecation, recurrent anal fissure, or mucosal eversion within 30 days after surgery, and no recurrence of hemorrhoids and anal dysfunction occurred during the 6-month follow-up after surgery. The average operation time was 26.5 ± 6.2 min (17-43 min). The average length of hospital stay was 4.0 ± 1.2 days (2-7 days). In terms of postoperative analgesia, 35 patients took oral nimesulide, 6 did not use any analgesics, and 3 required nimesulide plus tramadol by injection. The mean Visual Analog Scale pain score was 6.8 ± 0.8 preoperatively and 2.9 ± 1.2, 2.0 ± 0.7, and 1.4 ± 0.6 at 1, 3, and 5 days postoperatively, respectively. The average basic activities of daily living score was 98.2 ± 2.6 (90-100) at discharge.
Conclusion: Lingnan surgery is easy to perform and has obvious curative effects, providing an alternative to conventional procedures for acute incarcerated hemorrhoids.

Abstract To establish a standard Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) bone setting technique, standardize the operation and inherit the TCM bone setting technique. This project was based on the interactive tracking of bone setting techniques with a dedicated position tracker, the motion tracking of bone setting techniques based on RGBD (Red Green Blue Depth) cameras, the digital analysis of bone setting techniques, and the design of the virtual reality platform for bone setting techniques. These key technical researches were combined to construct an interactive bone setting technique. The virtual simulation system can reproduce the implementation process of the expert's bone setting technique. The user can observe the implementation of the manipulative technique from multiple angles; through human-computer interaction, the whole process of implementation of the bone setting technique can be simulated, and the movement and reduction of the affected bone can be observed at the same time. It can be used as a teaching and training system for assisting bone setting techniques. Students can use the system to carry out repeated self-training, and can instantly compare with the standard techniques of the expert database, breaking the traditional teaching mode of 'expected and unspeakable' and avoid directly using patients. Therefore, this research makes it possible to reduce teaching costs, reduce risks, improve teaching quality, and make up for the lack of teaching conditions. It is very positive for the inheritance of the traditional Chinese 'intangible culture' of bone setting techniques, and to promote the digitalization and standardization of bone setting techniques.

Abstract This study investigates the provincial variations in self-expression among millions of Sina Weibo users within China, alongside the influence of ecological factors. Online social networking (OSN) platforms enable individuals to express themselves publicly through the use of personal Bios sections. In order to explore regional differences in self-expression, we constructed a self-expression index, grounded in the percentage of users who provided self-descriptions. To do this, we analyzed the Bios information of over 13 million users, obtaining provincial self-expression scores. Our results demonstrated that the self-expression index has face, convergent, and discriminant validity. Moreover, we discovered that several ecological factors exhibited a considerable impact on self-expression among Chinese Sina Weibo users. This research offers valuable insights into the regional variations of self-expression in China and the role of ecological factors in shaping such tendencies.

Abstract Face recognition strategies do not generalize across individuals. Many studies have reported robust cultural differences between West Europeans/North Americans and East Asians in eye movement strategies during face recognition. The social orientation hypothesis posits that individualistic vs. collectivistic (IND/COL) value systems, respectively defining West European/North American and East Asian societies, would be at the root of many cultural differences in visual perception. Whether social orientation is also responsible for such cultural contrast in face recognition remains to be clarified. To this aim, we conducted two experiments with West European/North American and Chinese observers. In Experiment 1, we probed the existence of a link between IND/COL social values and eye movements during face recognition, by using an IND/COL priming paradigm. In Experiment 2, we dissected the latter relationship in greater depth, by using two IND/COL questionnaires, including subdimensions to those concepts. In both studies, cultural differences in fixation patterns were revealed between West European/North American and East Asian observers. Priming IND/COL values did not modulate eye movement visual sampling strategies, and only specific subdimensions of the IND/COL questionnaires were associated with distinct eye-movement patterns. Altogether, we show that the typical contrast between IND/COL cannot fully account for cultural differences in eye movement strategies for face recognition. Cultural differences in eye movements for faces might originate from mechanisms distinct from social orientation.

Abstract Abstract Background Fucosyltransferase 2(FUT2) and its induced α-1,2 fucosylation is associated with cancer metastasis. However, the role of FUT2 in colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis remains unclear. Methods The expression levels and clinical analyses of FUT2 were assessed in CRC samples. Migration and invasion assays, EMT detection, nude mice peritoneal dissemination models and intestinal specific FUT2 knockout mice (FUT2△IEC mice) were used to investigate the effect of FUT2 on metastasis in colorectal cancer. Quantitative proteomics study of glycosylated protein, UEA enrichment, Co-immunoprecipitation identified the mediator of the invasive-inhibiting effects of FUT2. Results FUT2 is downregulated in CRC tissues and is positively correlated with the survival of CRC patients. FUT2 is an inhibitor of colorectal cancer metastasis which, when overexpressed, suppresses invasion and tumor dissemination in vitro and in vivo. FUT2 knock-out mice (FUT2△IEC mice) develop AMO and DSS-induced tumors and promote EMT in colorectal cancers. FUT2-induced α-1,2 fucosylation impacts the ability of low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1(LRP1) to suppress colorectal cancer invasion. Conclusions Our study demonstrated that FUT2 induces α-1,2 fucosylation and inhibits EMT and metastasis of colorectal cancer through LRP1 fucosylation, suggesting that FUT2 may serve as a therapeutic target for colorectal cancer.
