Abstract Background: The success of any dental prosthesis depends on aesthetics and function. A proper shade selection is a prime requisite for providing aesthetics to dental patients.
Purpose: This study aims to compare the photographic method of shade selection with that of a digital spectrophotometer.
Materials and methods: The study included 50 participants. The primary inclusion criterion was the presence of the maxillary left central incisor without a history of restorative or endodontic procedures. The shade of the left maxillary central incisor was determined using the VITA Easyshade V spectrophotometer (VITA Zahnfabrik, BadSäckingen, Germany) and the digital photography method for all the selected participants. The CIELAB colour space utilizes three values (L*, a*, and b*) to objectively measure colour. While the digital photography approach used Adobe Photoshop software (Adobe Systems Incorporated, San Jose, CA) to report solely the L*, a*, and b* values, the spectrophotometer reported the L*, a*, and b* values along with the actual shade. After obtaining the values of L*, a*, and b*, ΔE, which is their difference, was calculated using a standard formula. Statistical analysis was carried out by using Student's t-test and proportion z-test.
Results: When the comparison of the L*a*b* values was done, Student's t-test showed similar (P>0.05) L(t=0.16, P=0.872), a (t=0.52, P=0.607), and b (t=0.23, P=0.820) values between the two groups; that is, they did not differ significantly or showed perfect matching. There was agreement (ΔE≤2) in 42 (84.0%) cases and disagreement (ΔE>2) in eight (16.0%) cases. The proportion z-test showed an agreement of 84.0%, which was statistically highly significant (z=20.44, P<0.001).
Conclusion: The true shade of the teeth can be depicted using standardized digital images.

Abstract Background: Restoration of severely damaged primary molars with very short clinical crowns is a big challenge and often extracted due to the lack of restorative options. Total crown replacement (TCR) is a novel treatment alternative for the restoration of such teeth through bonding of the biological restorations which are the sterile decoronated crowns of the extracted human teeth, obtained from a tooth bank.
Case report: Presented here is a report of two cases restored with the TCR technique. A 9-month follow-up showed satisfactory results in terms of function, esthetics, gingival health, and morphology including occlusal wear. TCR can be a viable and economical alternative for restoration of severely decayed/damaged primary teeth, otherwise indicated for extraction.

Abstract Background: Dental fear is a common cause of uncooperative behavior among young children, which poses a challenge in providing effective dental treatment. With the advancements in technology, several behavior guidance techniques in the form of distraction have emerged over time for managing uncooperative pediatric dental patients.
Aim: The aim of this study is to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of four different behavior guidance techniques in managing uncooperative pediatric patients by measuring pre- and post-operative dental fear/anxiety levels using physiological and nonphysiological parameters.
Methodology: Sixty systemically healthy children aged 5-8 years with negative behavior as per Frankl's Rating Scale, requiring restoration were included in the study and randomly divided into four equal groups (n = 15), based on the guidance techniques used: Tell-Show-Do (TSD) as a control group and audio distraction, audiovisual distraction (AVD) (virtual reality [VR]) and Mobile Phone Game Distraction as test groups. Pre- and post-intervention levels of the child's fear/anxiety were assessed using both physiological (blood pressure and pulse rate) and nonphysiological (facial image scale) parameters. The data were evaluated using t-test and one-way ANOVA test.
Results: A statistically significant difference was observed in both physiological and non-physiological parameters post-intervention in the groups with a maximum decrease in the AVD (VR) group.
Conclusions: AVD (VR) was found to be the most effective while TSD alone as the least effective behavior guidance technique in reducing dental fear/anxiety in uncooperative pediatric dental patients.

Abstract Objectives: Psychological distress and spiritual well-being (SWB) are directly related to the quality of life in cancer patients. Mindfulness-Based Art Therapy (MBAT) integrates mindfulness practices with art therapy and has shown to decrease distress levels and improve SWB in women with breast cancer. The objective of the study was to identify the effects of a 1-week MBAT intervention on psychological distress and SWB in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Materials and methods: This was a single group, pre-test post-test study carried out in a clinical setting. The psycho-oncology assessment questionnaire, Distress Thermometer (DT) and Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-SWB Scale 12 (FACIT-SP12) Version 4 were administered before, post1
Results: The median DT score significantly decreased from pre-session to immediate post-session and pre-session to post 1-week session. The median of meaning, peace, and faith subscales of FACIT SP12 scores along with total FACIT SP12 score significantly increased from pre-session to immediate post-session as well as from pre-session to post 1 week.
Conclusion: One-week MBAT intervention for breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy significantly decreased the psychological distress and significantly improved the SWB in terms of meaning, peace, and faith.

Abstract Excision of port site (PSE) for patients having undergone laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is not a standard recommendation. We retrospectively evaluated a cohort of patients with isolated PSM without any prior cancer-directed therapy who were assessed for resection between March 2012 and July 2016 at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. Eleven of a total 13 patients underwent wide excision for PSM in the given time period. Upfront resection was undertaken in six patients while seven patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and two received neoadjuvant chemo radiotherapy (NACTRT) prior to attempted resection. With the median follow-up of 22 months, post PSM disease-free survival (DFS) was 20 months (95% CI 15-24 months) and overall survival (OS) was 37 months (95% CI 22-51 months). Careful selection along with an aggressive management strategy may be a step forward in the treatment of patients with isolated PSM.
