    Abstract El 4 de junio de 2021, partió a la eternidad nuestro amigo, colega y maestro, el Dr. Manuel Edmundo Tantaleán Vidaurre, docente universitario, un distinguido parasitólogo, en particular en la helmintología. Este trabajo rinde homenaje al maestro e investigador que con su trayectoria, entre aulas y laboratorios, fue sembrando la curiosidad y el conocimiento científico que inspiró a muchos de sus alumnos y estudiantes.

    Abstract RESUMEN Introducción: el “ambiente” educacional es el conjunto de condiciones y sentimientos que experimentan y perciben los estudiantes en un contexto institucional determinado. Objetivo: evaluar el ambiente educacional en los residentes del hospital Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. Método: se realizó una investigación evaluativa para lo cual se empleó la cuesta PHEEM (Postgraduate Hospital Educational Environment Measure) un instrumento específico para evaluar el ambiente educacional de los residentes en el contexto hospitalario. Resultados: la encuesta fue aplicada a 120 residentes del centro de 206 en total, para 58,25 %; pertenecientes a ambos géneros. Estuvieron representadas las 20 cátedras del hospital. El promedio general fue 2,5333, lo que indica un ambiente educacional con limitaciones importantes. El coeficiente Alfa de Cronbach de 0,888 y un Alfa de ítems estandarizados de 0,889, demuestra confiabilidad del instrumento aplicado. Conclusiones: la aplicación de la encuesta fue muy útil en el diagnóstico del ambiente educacional de los residentes del hospital, demostrándose que existen limitaciones importantes, sería necesaria una próxima investigación para compararnos con otros hospitales de la provincia y del país. ABSTRACT Introduction: educational environment is the set of conditions and feelings, which are experienced and perceived by students in a determined institutional context. Objective: To evaluate the educational environment in the residents of the hospital Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. Methods: an evaluative investigation was carried out for which the PHEEM (Postgraduate Hospital Educational Environment Measure) was used a specific instrument to evaluate the educational environment of the residents in the hospital context.     Abstract Background: Craniopharyngioma is a sellar region benign cyst It's frequency ranges from 1.2% to 4.6% of all brain tumors.
    Objective: To carry out a clinical pathological correlation of craniopharyngioma among adults and describe the tumor's biological characteristics.
    Methods: We included 115 craniopharyngiomas; 100 were adamantimomatous and 15 were papillary type. Patient's age range was 15-90 years (mean 52.5 yrs); 54 (47%) were males and 61 (53%) females. The most frequent location was the supraselar region in 49 (42.6%) of cases. Total exeresis was performed in 72 patients (62.6%) and partial exeresis in 43 (37.4%).
    Results: We noted a recurrence among 50 patients (43%), of which 5/15 were papillary and 45/100 adamantinomatous. The mean patient age for recurrent tumors was 50.46+/-14.13yrs and 48.65+/-11.95 for non recurrent tumors. Thirteen patients died (11.3%). We observed a statistical correlation between recurrence, exeresis (p=0.014), and death (p=0.047). Follow-up was longer among females than males and in suprasellar tumor location, papillary type, external epithelium cysts and laxo stellate reticulum.
    Conclusions: However a good prognostic factor in craniopharyngiomas was observed in older female patients with complete exeresis, small tumors, external epithelium cysts, edematous stroma, inflammation, and absence of atypical cell and mitosis.

    Abstract Pedro Manuel Colón de Portugal, duque de Veragua, fue uno de los consejeros de Estado designados por Carlos II en noviembre de 1699. En el momento de su nombramiento, desempeñaba el cargo de virrey de Sicilia, por lo que su influencia en las consultas al Consejo de Estado en las que se debatió la cuestión sucesoria fue limitada. En el presente artículo, se pretende estudiar la figura de don Pedro Manuel Colón de Portugal centrándonos en tres aspectos principales: las razones que llevaron a su nombramiento como Consejero de Estado en una coyuntura especialmente difícil para la Monarquía de España, la influencia que tuvo en la problemática sucesoria y, a través de su desempeño como virrey de Sicilia, cómo el gobierno de Madrid afrontó la incertidumbre de la sucesión de Carlos II en distintos territorios de Italia y su respuesta ante la amenaza que suponían los tratados de reparto. Pedro Manuel Colón de Portugal, duke of Veragua, was one of the State Councilors appointed by king Charles II of Spain in November, 1699. When he was designated as such, he was already viceroy of Sicily, which is why his influence in those inquiries to the Counsel of State related to the debate of the problem of Charles II’s succession was very limited. In this article, we aim to study the figure of don Pedro Manuel Colón de Portugal, focusing on three key points: the reasons why he was appointed to the State Council in a moment especially difficult for the Spanish Monarchy, the influence he had in the problem of Charles II’s succession and, in his capacity as viceroy of Sicily, how the different territories of Italy faced the problem of the king’s succession and their answer to the threat the Partition Treaties posed for their future.
