Abstract This study explores how 14-15 h fasting or acute exercise affects immune cell epigenetics, specifically focusing on miRNAs in mononuclear cells. Findings suggest fasting significantly impacts microRNAs associated with endothelial metabolism compared to exercise, but does not directly connect these changes to cell apoptosis or autophagy. This enhances comprehension of cellular self-consumption under health-promoting interventions.
