Abstract Breast cancer is a primary cause of human deaths among gynecological cancers around the globe. Though it can occur in both genders, it is far more common in women. It is a disease in which the patient’s body cells in the breast start growing abnormally. It has various kinds (e.g., invasive ductal carcinoma, invasive lobular carcinoma, medullary, and mucinous) , which depend on which cells in the breast turn into cancer. Traditional manual methods used to detect breast cancer are not only time consuming but may also be expensive due to the shortage of experts, especially in developing countries. To contribute to this concern, this study proposed a cost-effective and efficient scheme called AMAN. It is based on deep learning techniques to diagnose breast cancer in its initial stages using X-ray mammograms. This system classifies breast cancer into two stages. In the first stage, it uses a well-trained deep learning model ( Xception ) while extracting the most crucial features from the patient’s X-ray mammographs. The Xception is a pertained model that is well retrained by this study on the new breast cancer data using the transfer learning approach. In the second stage, it involves the gradient boost scheme to classify the clinical data using a specified set of characteristics. Notably, the experimental results of the proposed scheme are satisfactory. It attained an accuracy, an area under the curve (AUC), and recall of 87%, 95%, and 86%, respectively, for the mammography classification. For the clinical data classification, it achieved an AUC of 97% and a balanced accuracy of 92%. Following these results, the proposed model can be utilized to detect and classify this disease in the relevant patients with high confidence.

Abstract A field experiment was carried out with 20 genotypes of Transplant Aman (T. Aman) rice at the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Salna, Gazipur-1706, Bangladesh. The study was performed to evaluate the genetic deviation, trait association, and path coefficient (PC) based on grain yield (GY) and different yield-contributing agronomic characters. Variance analysis displayed extensive traits-wise variations across accessions, indicating variability and the opportunity for genetic selection for desirable traits. The high mean, range, and genotypic variances observed for most of the characters indicated a wide range of variation for these traits. All the characters indicated the minimum influence of environment on the expression of the trait and genetic factors had a significant role in the expressivity of these characters. High heritability in broad sense (h

Abstract The experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Laboratory of Agrotechnology Discipline, KhulnaUniversity, Khulnato determine the effect of salt stress on germination and seedling growth of indigenous Aman rice varieties during June, 2015 to December, 2015. The salt tolerant landraces will be used as genetic resource for variety development program in future. The factorial experiment consists of two factors such as ten indigenous Aman rice varieties and four levels of salt solutions viz EC (dS m−1) of 5, 10 and 15 with control (distilled water). The experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. The interaction effects between variety and salinity on germination and seedling growth parameters of indigenous Aman rice varieties were varied significantly. It was found that germination capacity, energy, speed, seedling vigor index, root length and shoot length of rice were decreased gradually with increasing salinity. The germination energy and germination speed of most varieties were drastically reduced at 10 dS m−1 or higher salinity levels. The germination capacity of Hatibazor, Boushohagi, Shadagotal and Moinamoti were recorded 97.66 %, 99.33%, 98.0 % and 97.33%, respectively at 15 dS m−1 water salinity in laboratory condition. The results revealed that the indigenous Aman rice varieties named Boushohagi, Shadagotal, Hatibazor, Moinamoti, Motha were performed better over other varieties considering of germination and seedling growth parameters.

Abstract An experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, during the period from May to November 1998 to investigate the effect of green manures and different levels of nitrogen on the growth performance of transplant aman rice (cv. BRRI dhan 32). The experiment consisted of 3 green manuring crops viz. Sesbania rostrata, Sesbania aculeata and Crotalaria juncea and 5 levels of nitrogen viz. 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 kg ha 1 . Growth attributes such as leaf area index, crop growth rate and net assimilation rate increased up to 67 DAT irrespective of green manure crops and different levels of nitrogen and thereafter declined. On the other hand, plant height and leaf area duration increased with the increasing levels of nitrogen in combination with green manuring crops. Application of 40 kg N ha 1 along with Sesbania rostrata green manuring showed the best performance in respect of grain yield and net assimilation rate of transplant aman rice. S. aculeata exhibited similar behaviour as that of S. rostrata but Crotalaria juncea showed relatively poor performance in respect of growth attributes of rice due to less amount of biomass added during incorporation.

Abstract Rapid, specific, and robust diagnostic strategies are needed to develop sensitive biosensors for small molecule detection, which could aid in controlling contamination and disease transmission. Recently, the target-induced collateral activity of Cas nucleases [clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-associated nucleases] was exploited to develop high-throughput diagnostic modules for detecting nucleic acids and small molecules. Here, we have expanded the diagnostic ability of the CRISPR-Cas system by developing Bio-SCAN V2, a ligand-responsive CRISPR-Cas platform for detecting non-nucleic acid small molecule targets. The Bio-SCAN V2 consists of an engineered ligand-responsive sgRNA (ligRNA), biotinylated dead Cas9 (dCas9-biotin), 6-carboxyfluorescein (FAM)-labeled amplicons, and lateral flow assay (LFA) strips. LigRNA interacts with dCas9-biotin only in the presence of sgRNA-specific ligand molecules to make a ribonucleoprotein (RNP). Next, the ligand-induced ribonucleoprotein is exposed to FAM-labeled amplicons for binding, and the presence of the ligand (small molecule) is detected as a visual signal [(dCas9-biotin)-ligRNA-FAM labeled DNA-AuNP complex] at the test line of the lateral flow assay strip. With the Bio-SCAN V2 platform, we are able to detect the model molecule theophylline with a limit of detection (LOD) up to 2 μM in a short time, requiring only 15 min from sample application to visual readout. Taken together, Bio-SCAN V2 assay provides a rapid, specific, and ultrasensitive detection platform for theophylline.

Abstract Objectives: Betamethasone causing iatrogenic Cushing's syndrome (CS) in infants are rarely reported.
Case presentation: In this case report, there were severe signs of CS, such as considerable weight acceleration and concurrent height deceleration, hirsutism and ecchymosis of the face, and buffalo pad, which are often found in adults. Clobetasol propionate, diflucortolone valerate, and dexamethasone nasal sprays were used in the majority of previously reported cases of corticosteroid abuse, whereas this is the first case of CS in an infant as a result of the use of betamethasone cream, also known as betnesol, which is frequently used by mothers in developing countries as a treatment for rashes. In this instance, a severe medication interaction caused by systemic betamethasone cream buildup led to the creation of CS. For the professionals, these patients are a challenge because of drug use without prescription.
Conclusions: Topical corticosteroid usage puts infants at risk for CS. Because of excessive betamethasone treatment in this child with diaper dermatitis, he acquired CS. It is said to draw attention to the risks of self-medication in developing nations.

Abstract The World Health Organization's global initiative toward eliminating high-risk Human Papillomavirus (hrHPV)-related cancers recommends DNA testing over visual inspection in all settings for primary cancer screening and HPV eradication by 2100. However, multiple hrHPV types cause different types of cancers, and there is a pressing need for an easy-to-use, multiplex point-of-care diagnostic platform for detecting different hrHPV types. Recently, CRISPR-Cas systems have been repurposed for point-of-care detection. Here, we established a

Abstract The objective of this paper is to investigate the impact of sustainability reporting (SR) quality on the corporate financial performance (CFP) of initial public offering (IPO) in Malaysia. This research applies the OLS and WLS regressions through content analysis of annual reports. The data was collected from Datastream, where 131 IPOs listed companies on Bursa Malaysia between 2007 and 2017. The findings indicate a positive and negative association between SR and its components with CFP. It is found that there is a negative and significant association between the SR characteristics of employees and products with CFP. However, it was discovered that the societal and environmental components have a significantly positive association with CFP. This finding shows that SR practices might be seen as an attempt to enhance IPO performance. The findings can facilitate financial institutions and regulatory agencies in driving responsibility on the part of companies regarding SR issues. The firms should involve SR practices in their SR decisions. Thus, this study emphasises the significance of combining social and organisational activities.
