Abstract This work shows the utilization of a physiologically based biopharmaceutics model (PBBM) to mechanistically explain the impact of diverse food types on the pharmacokinetics (PK) of isoniazid (INH) and acetyl-isoniazid (Ac-INH). The model was established and validated using published PK profiles for INH along with a combination of measured and predicted values for the physico-chemical and biopharmaceutical propertied of INH and Ac-INH. A dedicated ontogeny model was developed for N-acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) in human integrating Michaelis Menten parameters for this enzyme in the physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model tissues and in the gut, to explain the pre-systemic and systemic metabolism of INH across different acetylator types. Additionally, a novel equation was proposed to calculate the luminal drug degradation related to the presence of reducing sugars, using individual sugar molar concentrations in the meal. By incorporating luminal degradation into the model, adjusting bile salt concentrations and gastric emptying according to food type and quantity, the PBBM was able to accurately predict the negative effect of carbohydrate-rich diets on the PK of INH.

Abstract The main purpose of this work is to contribute to understanding the mechanism of oxidation of the polymeric components of common disposable masks used during the COVID-19 pandemic to offer the chemical basis to understand their long-term behavior under typical environmental conditions. Artificial aging of representative mask layers under isothermal conditions (110 °C) or accelerated photoaging showed that all the PP-made components underwent a fast oxidation process, following the typical hydrocarbon oxidation mechanism. In particular, yellowing and the melting temperature drop are early indicators of their diffusion-limited oxidation. Morphology changes also induced a loss of mechanical properties, observable as embrittlement of the fabric fibers. Results were validated through preliminary outdoor aging of masks, which allows us to predict they will suffer fast and extensive oxidation only in the case of contemporary exposure to sunlight and relatively high environmental temperature, leading to their extensive breakdown in the form of microfiber fragments, i.e., microplastics.

Abstract Background: Most studies assessing the safety of parental drug exposures during pregnancy and around the time of conception describe the effects of maternal exposure. Recent publications have raised awareness of the need for additional research regarding the safety of paternal drug exposures on pregnancy outcomes.
Objectives: To identify and describe studies that use secondary databases in paternal drug safety studies and to describe the secondary databases that were used.
Methods: A systematic review of studies assessing paternal medication exposure and pregnancy and infant outcomes using secondary databases was performed. In addition, the secondary databases used for these studies was described. Literature search was conducted using Embase, Web of Science, and PubMed, over the period January 1, 2012 to April 30, 2023. For each eligible study, paternal drug exposure, outcome, and data source characteristics were extracted in a data extraction form.
Results: After reviewing the literature, 17 studies met inclusion criteria. The medications assessed for paternal safety were anti-rheumatic drugs (n = 10), anti-depressants (n = 3), anticonvulsants (n = 2), and anti-diabetes medications (n = 2). Pregnancy safety outcomes included congenital malformations, birth weight, and developmental disorders. The studies used five different databases across Europe and North America. The included studies used databases from Denmark (n = 12), Norway (n = 2), Sweden (n = 1), Canada (n = 1), and the United States (n = 1). The European studies utilized national patient registers that linked fathers to births and prescription histories. The North American databases used included insurance claims and electronic health records.
Conclusions: Our review shows that few studies have been completed on paternal medication exposures and pregnancy outcomes, despite the availability of secondary databases that contain data necessary to link fathers to infants. More research on the potential adverse impacts of paternal medication exposures is needed.

Abstract In this essay we will analyze the characteristics of the inheritance of Daralgazi, located in the Vega of Granada, which Sancho de Castilla receives from the Catholic Monarchs in 1494, through a mercy granted for his merits in the War of Granada. Daralgazi is a property that passes from the holding of the «Moorish queens» to the hands of the Castilian-Aragonese monarchs during the time of the capitulations. We will focus on the characteristics of this property, the mention of it in other kinds of sources, and their nature and location. To sum up, all this topic will be inserted in the debate of the change of aristocratic property in the period of Conquest.

Abstract Hate crimes have severe consequences for the victims and for all members of the victim's social category. Prison programs must address the criminogenic needs of the participants, especially in this kind of crime, in order to prevent recidivism. This study seeks to understand the role of prejudice and aggression in the execution of hate crimes, in order to design effective interventions for hate crime offenders. Sociodemographic, criminological, and psychosocial variables were assessed in a sample of 33 hate crime offenders sentenced to prison or community service and in a group of 38 non-bias-motivated criminals (
