Abstract Diabetes is a global problem that threatens human health. Cell therapy methods using stem cells, and tissue engineering of pancreatic islets as new therapeutic approaches have increased the chances of successful diabetes treatment. In this study, to differentiate Wharton's Jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs) into insulin-producing cells (IPCs) with improved maturity, and function, platelet-rich plasma (PRP)-Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-Polycaprolactone (PCL)/PCL scaffold was designed. The two-dimensional (2D) control group included cell culture without differentiation medium, and the experimental groups included 2D, and three-dimensional (3D) groups with pancreatic beta cell differentiation medium. WJ-MSCs-derived IPCs on PRP-PVP-PCL/PCL scaffold took round cluster morphology, the typical pancreatic islets morphology. Real-time PCR, immunocytochemistry, and flowcytometry data showed a significant increase in pancreatic marker genes in WJ-MSCs-derived IPCs on the PRP-PVP-PCL/PCL scaffold compared to the 2D-experimental group. Also, using the ELISA assay, a significant increase in the secretion of insulin, and C-peptide was measured in the WJ-MSCs-derived IPCs of the 3D-experimental group compared to the 2D experimental group, the highest amount of insulin (38 µlU/ml), and C-peptide (43 pmol/l) secretion was in the 3D experimental group, and in response to 25 mM glucose solution, which indicated a significant improvement in the functional level of the WJ-MSCs-derived IPCs in the 3D group. The results showed that the PRP-PVP-PCL/PCL scaffold can provide an appropriate microenvironment for the engineering of pancreatic islets, and the generation of IPCs.

Abstract Introduction: Ear symptoms of granulomatosis with polyangiitis can range from ear fullness and otalgia to conductive or sensory neural hearing loss and sudden deafness. Cochlear implantation in these patients faces two challenges: access to the round window and control of mastoid and middle ear inflammation. The combined approach in cochlear implantation is a classic trans-facial recess approach facilitated by a trans-canal view.
Case report: In this case report, we present the "combined approach" in a 20-year-old lady with granulomatosis with polyangiitis who underwent cochlear implantation successfully using the combined approach.
Conclusion: Post-operative results suggest that the "combine approach" seems to be a safe, easy, and fast cochlear implantation technique for chronic otitis media with an atelectatic middle ear and retracted tympanic membrane or narrow facial recess space. It is a single-stage surgery that has no need for the obliteration of the ear and has less morbidity.

Abstract Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common neurological disorders and, researchers believe that the impairment of oxidant-antioxidant system plays an important role in its progression. The PI3K/NRF2 pathway has particular importance in increasing the expression of antioxidants. Thus present study aimed to investigate the effect of eight weeks of aerobic training (AT) with vitamin C (VC) on the expression pathway of antioxidants in the hippocampus tissue of trimethyltin chloride (TMT) induced Alzheimer's Disease Rats.
Methods: In this experimental study, 28 male Sprague-Dawley rats (age 14-16 months, weight 270-320 g) were injected 10 mg/kg TMT and were divided into (1) TMT (n = 7), (2) TMT + VC (n = 7), (3) TMT + AT (n = 7) and (4) TMT + VC + AT (n = 7) groups. Also, 7 healthy rats without any intervention selected as healthy control (HC) group to investigate the effects of TMT on research variables. Groups 3 and 4 ran on the treadmill for eight weeks, for 15-48 min at a speed of 10-24 m/min. Also, groups 2 and 4 received 4 mg/kg VC orally. To measure PI3K, Nrf2, SOD and catalase in the hippocampus tissue of rats, ELISA method were used. To analyze the data, one-way analysis of variance with Tukey's post- hoc tests were used (P ≤ 0.05).
Results: The hippocampal values of Nrf2 and SOD in TMT + VC, TMT + AT and TMT + VC + AT groups were higher than TMT group (P = 0.001). Catalase in TMT + AT and TMT + VC + AT groups was higher than TMT group (P = 0.001). Also, catalase and PI3K were higher in the TMT + VC + AT group than the TMT + VC group (P = 0.05). PI3K levels of TMT + VC + AT group were higher than TMT + AT group (P = 0.02).
Conclusion: It seems that AT and VC, both alone and in combination, play a role in improving the transcription pathway of antioxidants in the hippocampus tissue of TMT induced Alzheimer's disease Rats. Therefore, the combination of these two interventions is suggested to improve the antioxidant system.

Abstract Urban stormwater runoff is the main terrestrial source of tire and bitumen particles as emerging pollutants, which have adverse effects on receiving aquatic and terrestrial environments. In this study, the occurrence and characteristics of tire and bitumen particles in four rainfall events and three baseflow had been measured at the end of a dense urban catchment in Tehran metropolis. Particles were classified to 37-300, 300-500, and 500-5000 μm with stainless steel sieves, and hydrogen peroxide 30% was used for digestion of organic matter, following density separation with ZnCl

Abstract Background: Laryngeal mask airway (LMA) plays a crucial role in the field of modern anesthesia. There are different techniques to administer LMA. Here we aimed to compare the four methods of standard, 90° rotation, 180° rotation, and thumb placement in LMA mast placement.
Materials and methods: This is a clinical trial that was performed on 257 candidates of elective surgical operations requiring general anesthesia. All patients were categorized into four groups of LMA placement with index finger (standard method), mask placement with 90° rotation, 180° rotation method, and thumb finger group. We collected data regarding the success rates of LMA placement, the need for any manipulation when placing the mask, LMA placement time, failure of mask placement, presence of blood on the LMA, and laryngospasm and sore throats 1 hour after surgery in patients.
Results: The 90° rotation method had a significantly higher first attempt success rate than that in the other three methods (98.4%,
Conclusion: The 90° rotation method had significantly higher success rate and lower failure rate regarding the mask placement compared to other three methods.

Abstract In this paper, the control problem of aerial continuum manipulation systems (ACMSs) is considered. This study introduces a new platform for ACMSs in which a quadrotor is equipped with a tendon-bent concentric tube continuum robot. The decoupled dynamic modeling of ACMSs is utilized to derive the proposed feedback control law. The control design process is split into two distinct control loops. In the first loop, a terminal synergetic controller is presented to control the continuum robot's tip to track the desired trajectory. In the second loop, an improved synergetic controller is introduced to control the position and velocity of the quadrotor, which ensures asymptotic stability of the origin of the error dynamic. Moreover, in this loop a hybrid feedback law is designed to operate with the improved synergetic controller, which overcomes topological obstructions and globally stabilizes the attitude of the quadrotor. Furthermore, the stability of the resultant closed-loop system is verified utilizing the Lyapunov stability theorem. The efficiency and advantages of the proposed controller are verified by a comparative analysis in simulations.
