Abstract Sirenomelia, also known as mermaid syndrome, is a very rare lethal congenital disorder with multisystem malformations, characterized by fusion of the lower limbs. Here we report a preterm neonate with fusion of the lower limbs. The baby was born by cesarean section to a 27-year-old primigravida mother at 35 weeks and 3 days’ gestation. There was no maternal history of hypertension, heart disease, asthma, or diabetes mellitus. At birth, the infant did not cry, had weak tone, a heart rate (HR) of <60 beats per minute (BPM), an Apgar score of 1/2, and a birth weight of 2,300 grams. The infant had an imperforate anus and no urogenital openings or external genitalia. There was a small penis-like protrusion without an aperture, such as in cases of ambiguous genitalia. The two lower limbs were fused, with five toes on each foot. Despite neonatal resuscitation, the infant died within 75 minutes of birth. The child was diagnosed with sirenomelia. This case report aims to emphasize the importance of early prenatal diagnosis and education of the patient’s family.

Abstract This journal discussed Quraish Shihab's thoughts about the true essence of polygamy, where Quraish Shihab considers that many groups who misinterpreted and misunderstand polygamy so that he pours his thoughts on polygamy in neutral glasses, it means he is not supporting or rejecting polygamy. By using Descriptive-qualitative approach, the researcher can describe the characteristics of the population or a phenomena in his research to measure the phenomenon of a reality with ideal parameters, in other words the reality of polygamy that occurs in a society is measured by polygamy theories in accordance with Islamic shari'a. Quraish Shihab explained in detail about the meaning, caused, requisite, and also offers the criteria of women who can be polygamous so it can being concluded that polygamy is an emergency door in the aircraft that can be opened during emergencies and follow the interruption of the aircraft crew, this door should not be closed nor should it will be opened under normal circumstances.

Abstract Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent of coronavirus disease 2019, has become a global health concern. Therefore, there is an immense need to understand the network of virus-host interactions by using human disease-relevant cells. We have thus conducted a loss-of-function genome-wide screen using haploid human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) to identify genes involved in SARS-CoV-2 infection. Although the undifferentiated hESCs are resistant to SARS-CoV-2, their differentiated definitive endoderm (DE) progenies, which express high levels of ACE2, are highly sensitive to the virus. Our genetic screening was able to identify the well-established entry receptor ACE2 as a host factor, along with additional potential novel modulators of SARS-CoV-2. Two such novel screen hits, the transcription factor MAFG and the transmembrane protein TMEM86A, were further validated as conferring resistance against SARS-CoV-2 by using CRISPR-mediated mutagenesis in hESCs, followed by differentiation of mutant lines into DE cells and infection by SARS-CoV-2. Our genome-wide genetic screening investigated SARS-CoV-2 host factors in non-cancerous human cells with endogenous ACE2 expression, providing a unique platform to identify novel modulators of SARS-CoV-2 cytopathology in human cells.

Abstract The process of doing a needs analysis becomes essential since it gives instructional designers the chance to create learning materials that will actually benefit the target audiences. The present study aimed at scrutinizing the students’ needs to develop an English course for agriculture students in Indonesian vocational higher education or polytechnic. The researchers try to bring novelty in the present study by considering CEFR framework as a standard for describing and determining the level of ability or proficiency. Convergent parallel mixed methods design was employed in the current study. The data were obtained from questionnaires, interviews and focused group discussion. The questionnaire was distributed to the agriculture department students, employing a stratified random sampling method. In addition, the interview and focused group discussion were done with the coordinators of study program, the Head of Quality Assurance, lecturers who taught Intermediate English Course, and industry partners as well. The data collected from questionnaires, interview, and focused group discussion were then analyzed using side-by-side comparison. The results disclosed that the language skill considered the most important for the agriculture department students is speaking skill since it has a great impact on students’ academic, social and professional development. In other words, the agriculture department students require a learning process that emphasizes practice over theory. Furthermore, to make classroom activities more exciting, they desire the learning process that is blended with games. As a result, this study also provides implications for course designers to develop English materials that reflect comprehensive needs of the students.

Abstract One of the prohibitions in Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Competition is “cartel.” The impact caused by the cartel can not only lead to unfair competition between business actors. However, it can also cause consumer losses due to price increases resulting from the cartel of a product or service. This study aims to analyze the problem regarding the effectiveness of handling cartel cases by the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) and what factors impede the handling of cartel cases by the Business Competition Supervisory Commission. This research was conducted using the Juridical method by reviewing applicable laws and regulations, and documents such as case decisions. From the results of studies and interpretations, the handling of the Cartel by the Business Competition Supervisory Commission is still not effective because several cases of business actors were finally decided not to have committed violations. The court annulled several decisions of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission. In contrast, the factors hindering the handling of cartel cases are the lack of public awareness to report the activities of several business actors that lead to cartel indications, the difficulty of obtaining evidence, and several KPPU decisions being annulled by the court at the objection level. This research is intended to produce recommendations to improve the process of handling cases of violations of monopoly practices and unfair business competition, especially cartels.

Abstract Congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) is the most common intrauterine infection, leading to infant neurodevelopmental disabilities. An improved knowledge of correlates of protection against cCMV is needed to guide prevention strategies. Here, we employ an ex vivo model of human CMV (HCMV) infection in decidual tissues of women with and without preconception immunity against CMV, recapitulating nonprimary vs. primary infection at the authentic maternofetal transmission site. We show that decidual tissues of women with preconception immunity against CMV exhibit intrinsic resistance to HCMV, mounting a rapid activation of tissue-resident memory CD8

Abstract Renewable and biodegradable polysaccharides have attracted interest for their wide applicability, among them their use as sorbents for heavy metal ions. Their high sorption capacity is due mainly to the acidic groups that populate the polysaccharide backbone, for example, carboxylic groups in alginate and sulfate ester groups in the iota and lambda carrageenans. In this study, these three polysaccharides were employed, alone or in different mixtures, to recover different heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. All three polysaccharides were capable of adsorbing Eu

Abstract Objective: Despite the clinical significance of emotional diversity, also known as emodiversity, there has been limited investigation into the therapeutic interventions that influence this construct. In the current study we examined the association between immediate therapist self-disclosure (TSD) and emodiversity among two diagnostic groups who tend to experience emotional difficulties: people with schizophrenia and people with emotional disorders (i.e., depression and/or anxiety).
Method: The sample comprised 74 clients (37 diagnosed with schizophrenia and 37 with emotional disorders) treated by 45 therapists in a university clinic setting. Following each session, clients self-reported their emotions, and therapists completed a measure of frequency and centrality of their immediate TSD during the session.
Results: Longitudinal multilevel models indicated that immediate TSD was positively associated with clients' global emodiversity, both at the within- and the between-client levels, as well as with clients' negative emodiversity at the between-client level. Moreover, clients with emotional disorders and clients with schizophrenia did not differ in the association between immediate TSD and emodiversity. In addition, across groups, clients treated by therapists who used more immediate TSD on average showed greater increases in global emodiversity during treatment.
Conclusions: immediate TSD is associated with clients' ability to experience rich and diverse emotional experiences across different disorders. The theoretical and clinical implications of these findings are discussed.
