Abstract In this paper we analyze the implications of gravitational waves (GWs) as standard sirens on the modified gravity models by using the third-generation gravitational wave detector, i.e., the Einstein Telescope. Two viable models in $f(R)$ theories within the Palatini formalism are considered in our analysis ($f_{1}(\mathcal{R})=\mathcal{R}-\frac{\beta}{\mathcal{R}^{n}}$ and $f_{2}(\mathcal{R})=\mathcal{R}+\alpha\ln{\mathcal{R}}-\beta$), with the combination of simulated GW data and the latest electromagnetic (EM) observational data (including the recently released Pantheon type Ia supernovae sample, the cosmic chronometer data, and baryon acoustic oscillation distance measurements). Our analysis reveals that the standard sirens GWs, which provide an independent and complementary alternative to current experiments, could effectively eliminate the degeneracies among parameters in the two modified gravity models. In addition, we thoroughly investigate the nature of geometrical dark energy in the modified gravity theories with the assistance of $Om(z)$ and statefinder diagnostic analysis. The present analysis makes it clear-cut that the simplest cosmological constant model is still the most preferred by the current data. However, the combination of future naturally improved GW data most recent EM observations will reveal the consistency or acknowledge the tension between the $\Lambda$CDM model and modified gravity theories.

Abstract The total synthesis of the natural indole alkaloids (+)-notoamide F, I, and R and (-)-sclerotiamide is described. The four heptacyclic compounds were synthesized in 10-12 steps in a convergent and highly stereoselective manner from the readily available Seebach acetal. Key steps of the synthesis include a stereoselective oxidative aza-Prins cyclization to construct the bicyclo[2.2.2]diazaoctane, and a cobalt-catalyzed radical cycloisomerization to create the cyclohexenyl ring.

Abstract Although early detection of autism facilitates intervention, early detection strategies are not yet widespread in China. To improve the situation, the Chinese version of the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised with Follow-Up (M-CHAT-R/F) was validated. The sample included 7928 toddlers, aged 16 to 30 months, screened during their routine care in six provinces of China. When the cut-off value was 3, the sensitivity and specificity of M-CHAT-R were 0.963 and 0.865. The inter-rater reliability and the test-retest reliability were also adequate (intraclass correlation coefficients were 0.853 and 0.759, both ps < .01). The Chinese version of M-CHAT-R/F is an effective tool for early detection of ASD and is applicable to early screening in China.

Abstract Cases of honey poisoning have been reported widely, meaning there is a need for methods that detect "mad honey" or honey contaminated with plant-derived toxins to protect human health. In this study, we compared whole flower extracts and honey from Tripterygium wilfordii Hook. f. (TwHf) and Macleaya cordata (Willd) R. Br (McRB) using QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) and ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography/quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC/Q-TOF-MS). The results revealed several compounds common to whole flowers and honey samples. Triptolide and protopine were selected as potential markers for identifying "mad honeys" from these plants. The developed method can easily detect different honey varieties that were spiked with 5% TwHf and McRB honey samples. Additionally, 90 commercial honey samples were analyzed and determined as free from contamination. The method described in this report could be useful for studies on honey from other poisonous nectar and pollen plants.

Abstract: Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici (Forl) causes Fusarium crown and root rot of tomato ...

Abstract Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici (Forl) causes Fusarium crown and root rot of tomato, leading to severe yield losses. Chinese chive and the Chinese chive extract reportedly have antifungal effects. In this study, Chinese chive extract treatments inhibited Forl spore germination, with an EC₅₀ of 0.40 g ml⁻¹ in vitro. Furthermore, the mechanism underlying the fungicidal effects of the Chinese chive extract was analyzed by RNA sequencing. A total of 1252 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected, of which 396 were upregulated and 856 were downregulated. The DEGs were related to starch and sucrose metabolism, amino sugar and nucleotide sugar metabolism, galactose metabolism, fatty acid metabolism, sphingolipid metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, peroxisomes, ribosome biogenesis in eukaryotes, mismatch repair, and the phosphatidylinositol signaling system, implying these pathways contribute to the fungicidal activity of the Chinese chive extract. The qRT-PCR results verified the accuracy of the RNA sequencing data. Thus, the Chinese chive extract can inhibit Forl spore germination by affecting spore nutrient metabolism.
