Abstract This paper examines the short-term or transient dynamics of SIR infectious disease models in patch environments. We employ reactivity of an equilibrium and amplification rates, concepts from ecology, to analyze how dispersals/travels between patches, spatial heterogeneity, and other disease-related parameters impact short-term dynamics. Our findings reveal that in certain scenarios, due to the impact of spatial heterogeneity and the dispersals, the short-term disease dynamics over a patch environment may disagree with the long-term disease dynamics that is typically reflected by the basic reproduction number. Such an inconsistence can mislead the public, public healthy agencies and governments when making public health policy and decisions, and hence, these findings are of practical importance.

Abstract Trigeminal neuralgia is a manifestation of orofacial neuropathic pain disorder, always deemed to be an insurmountable peak in the field of pain research and treatment. The pain is recurrent, abrupt in onset and termination similar to an electric shock or described as shooting. A poor quality of life has been attributed to trigeminal neuralgia, as the paroxysms of pain may be triggered by innocuous stimuli on the face or inside the oral cavity, such as talking, washing face, chewing and brushing teeth in daily life. The pathogenesis of trigeminal neuralgia has not been fully elucidated, although the microvascular compression in the trigeminal root entry zone is generally considered to be involved in the emergence and progression of the pain disorder. In addition, orofacial neuropathic pain restricted to one or more divisions of the trigeminal nerve might be secondary to peripheral nerve injury. Based on current hypotheses regarding the potential causes, a variety of animal models have been designed to simulate the pathogenesis of trigeminal neuralgia, including models of compression applied to the trigeminal nerve root or trigeminal ganglion, chronic peripheral nerve injury, peripheral inflammatory pain and center-induced pain. However, it has not yet been possible to determine which model can be perfectly employed to explain the mechanisms. The selection of appropriate animal models is of great significance for the study of trigeminal neuralgia. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss the characteristics of the animal models in terms of animal strains, materials, operation methods and behavior observation, in order to gain insight into the research progress in animal models of trigeminal neuralgia. In the future, animal models that closely resemble the features of human trigeminal neuralgia pathogenesis need to be developed, with the aim of making valuable contributions to the relevant basic and translational medical research.

Abstract Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the cervical cancer screening practices among women residing in Lingang New District of Shanghai. Moreover, the study aimed to delve into the characteristics of HPV infection and cervical lesions in older women (≥60 years old), seeking for more effective method for cervical cancer screening.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study enrolled women who were referred to colposcopy and cervical histological examination due to abnormal cytology or HPV tests from Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital between January 2018 and December 2022.
Results: A total of 1,931 women (mean age: 41.8 ± 12.5, range: 18-88 years old) were enrolled, 119 individuals aged ≥ 60 and 1732 aged <60. The infection rates of HPV52, 33, 35, 56, 26 and 81 were significantly higher in the elderly group. Multiple HPV infection rates were also higher in this group and were associated with cervical lesions. The probability of LSIL, HSIL and Ca in women over 60 years old was significantly higher compared to women under 60. The top three HPV genotypes in elderly women with CIN2+ were HPV16, 52, and 58. The Yoden index was higher for extended typing for HPV 31/33/45/52/58(0.41) compared to cytology(0.29), high risk HPV without specific typing(0.07), cotest(cytology and high risk HPV, 0.06 or 0.30), or the current shunt strategy(0.07).
Conclusions: Elderly women still need to continue cervical cancer screening, and extended typing test for HPV16/18/31/33/45/52/58 is a more effective method for this age group.

Abstract Under stress conditions, the endoplasmic reticulum and nucleus undergo turnover through selective macroautophagy/autophagy processes termed reticulophagy and nucleophagy, respectively. Our recent study has identified the protein Hva22/Rop1/Yep1, a member of the REEP1-REEP4 subfamily of the REEP protein family, as an essential factor for both processes in the fission yeast

Abstract Species delimitation based on lineage definition has become increasingly popular. However, these methods have been limited, especially for species that lack genomic data and are morphologically similar. The trickiest part for the species identification is that the interspecific and intraspecific boundaries are vague. Taking
