    Abstract Aim: Several studies emphasized the antiviral properties of many natural compounds enclosed in nutraceuticals formulas and quite effective to prevent the respiratory infections. The rationale of our investigation has been to achieve protection from common cold viruses' infection of the upper airways pooling together and dispensing different active principles on a multistep defense basis.
    Results: The symptomatic relieve is remarkedly evident in the treated group with our spray compared to the second group treated with commercial nasal lavage kit.
    Conclusions: The open case-control retrospective observational study showed a definite benefit of the spray based on natural herbal extracts to take control of the upper airways respiratory distress due to viral infections.

    Abstract In order to extensively investigate on the synovial membrane – related diseases, we outlined a specific medical branch named “Synoviology”, targeted to the physiopathology and therapy of synovial membrane dysfunction. We searched Pubmed/Medline using the terms “synovial disease”, “therapy”, “synovial membrane”, “joints” and “drugs”, alone and combined. Selected papers from 1960 to 2015 were chosen based on their content (evidence-based quality and reliability). Clinical and experimental articles were included. Viscosupplementation with structurally different hyaluronic acid compounds, for restoration of the synovial membrane, and cartilage. The impact of other old and new medical treatments either locally or systemically administered was also included. Synoviology integrates biological, clinical and biochemical info for the progress of new therapeutic options in osteo-articular pathology.

    Abstract The innate immune system, through pattern recognition receptors, intercepts any kind of pathogen and reacts through chemotactic, phagocyting, cytokines-secreting and cell-killing mechanisms in a very quick and effective way. Meanwhile, the adaptive immunity arm, through dendritic and T and B cells memory activation, is alerted and starts, more slowly, to produce antibodies, seen thanks to the progress of immunological investigations in comparative vertebrates, invertebrates, and vegetal models.However, it has been stated that the innate immune system also displays adaptive potential in terms of reinfection resistance through immune memory, in addition to the modulation of responses against repeated low doses of lipopolysaccharides (Lps) or cross-immunization, starting from one pathogenic species and extending to others.

    Abstract Background: Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are B, T-helper, and T-cytotoxic lymphocytes migrated from the blood or lymph stream toward a tumor with the aim to infiltrate and destroy it. They can be histologically graded as brisk, nonbrisk, or absent. Malignant melanoma has been the first malignancy found to be correlated with TILs status, being brisk TILs associated with better clinical outcomes. By the terminology of "adoptive cell transfer" (ACT), the medical oncology refers to the transfer of cells in a tumor-bearing patient from the same recipient or a healthy donor.
    Methods: A PubMed literature search on the topic has been performed. Additional documents known to the authors and identified from the reference list of cited publications have been included.
    Results: In the past, autologous TILs ACT was successfully tested for the treatment of malignant melanoma and, today, it is a standardized procedure in several centers around the world. It represents the first research step toward the bioengineered chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy from autologous donor.
    Conclusions: Both autologous TILs ACT and CAR-T cell therapy from autologous donor exploit the anticancer power of targeted self-lymphocytes, but CAR-T cell technology also virtually allows treatment of those melanomas devoid of TILs or with so few cytotoxic TILs that are difficult to identify.
