Abstract Adaptation strategies in the wine sector consist of the use of cultural techniques to limit damages caused by climate change, using, among other resources, varieties better adapted to the scenarios of abiotic stress exacerbation, namely water and thermal stress, as well as those more tolerant to heatwaves. With the intention to determine the aromatic characterization of ten monovarietal wines produced from cultivars with high productive performance in a global warming scenario ('Petit Verdot', 'Marselan', 'Merlot', 'Touriga Franca', 'Syrah', 'Vinhão', 'Bobal', 'Preto Martinho', 'Trincadeira', and 'Alicante Bouschet'), grown in Esporão vineyard (Alentejo, Portugal) and submitted to deficit irrigation (Ks ± 0.5), their aromatic character has been analyzed. Each grape variety was vinified at a small scale, in duplicate, and the wines were evaluated by a sensory panel, which rated several sensory attributes (visual, olfactory, and gustatory). Sensory analysis revealed a discrete appreciation for the monovarietal wines tasted, showing a differentiation at the olfactory level that was not too marked, although present, between the samples. The free volatile compounds were analysed using gas chromatography-olfactometry (GC-O), identified using a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) technique and semi-quantified using the gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID) technique. Based on the interpolation of the results of the various statistical analyses carried out, 49 probable odor active compounds (pOACs) were identified and based on the odor activity values (OAVs), 24 of them were recognized as odor active compounds (OACs) originated mainly during the fermentation processes. An aromatic characterization of the varieties has been proposed.

Abstract Pseudoaneurysms of the pancreatic and peripancreatic arteries is a well-known complication of chronic or necrotizing pancreatitis due to proteolytic enzymatic digestion of the arterial wall. A major part of peripancreatic pseudoaneurysms involve the splenic artery, but any peripancreatic artery may be involved and bleed. They are potentially life threatening for patients, due to spontaneous intraperitoneal rupture, rupture and fistulization into the surrounding organs, or fistulization into the pancreatic duct. Small ones are usually asymptomatic and are often diagnosed incidentally, while giant (> 5 cm) aneurysms and pseudoaneurysms are symptomatic and may be detected as a pulsatile mass in the upper-left quadrant or epigastrium. Imaging plays a key role in the identification of splenic artery aneurysms and pseudoaneurysms, while angiography still represents the gold standard for the diagnosis, although nowadays it plays a prominent role in treatment. Treatment of splenic artery pseudoaneurysms is mandatory because of the high probability of rupture, with a mortality rate of up to 90%. The gold standard treatment is represented by surgery, with a mortality rate between 16% and 50%. In recent years the endovascular approach has proven to be an effective alternative treatment for splenic artery pseudoaneurysms, and it is currently the method of choice. In this article, we present the case of a ant pseudoaneurysm of the splenic artery due to huge pseudocysts in a young alcoholic patient with recurrent and chronic pancreatitis, complicated by fistulization and invasion of spleen parenchyma and arteriovenous fistula.

Abstract Purpose: Interventional radiology plays an established role in the management of many conditions of the female reproductive tract. Since in benign gynecological and obstetric pathologies, as myomas and postpartum hemorrhages, uterine arteries embolization has been already evaluated, this manuscript aims to report on a single-center experience concerning the endovascular management of metrorrhagia caused by gynecological malignancies.
Materials and methods: Single-center retrospective analysis of thirty patients affected by gynecologic cancer treated with endovascular embolization between January 2016 and December 2018 for acute or chronic metrorrhagia.
Results: All patients were in advanced oncological stage (III or IV) with loco-regional spread of the tumor or invasion of pelvic structures, with a poor performance status. They were not suitable for surgery. On initial CT angiography, contrast media extravasation was confirmed in two patients (6.6%), while on DSA examination, tumor stain was displayed in 28 patients (93.4%). In two patients (6.6%) a pseudoaneurysm was reported.
Conclusions: Endovascular treatment of metrorrhagia in oncologic patients could be a valid therapeutic alternative, especially when in elderly patients with poor clinical conditions not suitable for surgery. A bilateral and superselective embolization using non-resorbable embolic agents should be performed, except for those cases in which there is infiltration of major vessels causing pseudoaneurysms or fistulas that require embolization.

Abstract Background: Although laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (LDN) represents the gold-standard technique for kidney living donation, robotic donor nephrectomy (RDN) settled as another appealing minimally invasive technique over the past decades. A comparison between LDN and RDN outcomes was performed.
Methods: RDN and LDN outcomes were compared, focusing on operative time and perioperative risk factors affecting surgery duration. Learning curves for both techniques were compared through spline regression and cumulative sum models.
Results: The study analyzed 512 procedures (154 RDN and 358 LDN procedures) performed between 2010 and 2021 in 2 different high-volume transplant centers. The RDN group presented a higher prevalence of arterial variations (36.2 versus 22.4%; P  = 0.001) compared with the LDN cohort. No open conversions occurred; operative time (210 versus 195 min; P  = 0.011) and warm ischemia time (WIT; 230 versus 180 s; P  < 0.001) were longer in RDN. Postoperative complication rate was similar (8.4% versus 11.5%; P  = 0.49); the RDN group showed shorter hospital stay (4 versus 5 d; P  < 0.001). Spline regression models depicted a faster learning curve in the RDN group ( P  = 0.0002). Accordingly, cumulative sum analysis highlighted a turning point after about 50 procedures among the RDN cohort and after about 100 procedures among the LDN group.Higher body mass index resulted as an independent risk factor for longer operative time for both techniques; multiple arteries significantly prolonged operative time in LDN, whereas RDN was longer in right kidney procurements; both procedures were equally shortened by growing surgical experience.
Conclusions: RDN grants a faster learning curve and improves multiple vessel handling. Incidence of postoperative complications was low for both techniques.
