Abstract The escalating issue of air pollution has become a significant concern in urban regions, including Islamabad, Pakistan, due to the rise in air pollutant emissions driven by economic and industrial expansion. To gain a deeper understanding of air pollution, a study was conducted during winter 2022-2023, assessing physical, chemical, and biological factors in Islamabad. The findings revealed that the average concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) was notably greater than the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, reaching 133.39 μg/. Additionally, the average concentration of bacteria (308.64 CFU/) was notably greater than that of fungi (203.55 CFU/) throughout the study. Analytical analyses, including SEM-EDS and FTIR, showed that the PM2.5 in Islamabad is composed of various particles such as soot aggregates, coal fly ash, minerals, bio-particles, and some unidentified particles. EF analysis distinguished PM2.5 sources, enhancing understanding of pollutants origin, whereas Spearman's correlation analysis elucidated constituent interactions, further explaining air quality impact. The results from the Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) indicated a gradual increase in the total elemental composition of PM2.5 from autumn to winter, maintaining high levels throughout the winter season. Furthermore, a significant variation was found in the mass concentration of PM2.5 when comparing samples collected in the morning and evening. The study also identified the presence of semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) in PM2.5 samples, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and phenolic compounds, with notable variations in their concentrations. Utilizing health risk assessment models developed by the US EPA, we estimated the potential health risks associated with PM2.5 exposure, highlighting the urgency of addressing air quality issues. These findings provide valuable insights into the sources and composition of PM2.5 in Islamabad, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of air quality and its potential environmental and health implications.

Abstract Background: Globally, adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are the foremost cause of morbidity as well as mortality. This necessitates a system of surveillance that can effectively and efficiently monitor the effect of drugs on the general population. The role of pharmacovigilance (PV) is paramount in ensuring drug safety through spontaneous ADR reporting.
Methods: Data collection in the current research was carried out by an anonymous, online 36-item self-report questionnaire amongst a sample of 351 working healthcare professionals (HCPs) across different regions of Jazan Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The current sample comprised 54.4% males and 45.6% females, having an age range of 26-57 years, and was conducted between August 21 and October 21, 2022. Participants were recruited using the convenience snowball sampling technique.
Results: The participants' awareness of PV as well as spontaneous ADR reporting, had a significant association with having <40 years of age (
Conclusion: Our results demonstrate a need for designing and conducting educational programs, providing training and conducting workshops for all the HCPs to improve their awareness towards PV and spontaneous ADR reporting while also highlighting the need and importance of having positive attitudes towards spontaneous ADR reporting. Cooperation between different HCPs should be encouraged to improve their practices towards spontaneous ADR reporting.

Abstract A 70-year-old man underwent the frozen elephant trunk (FET) procedure with zone 0 debranching following a failed endovascular repair for type B aortic dissection and a stent-graft deployment in zone 1 for a retrograde type A aortic dissection. Zone 0 deployment is a novel approach that is valuable as a bailout strategy in urgent cases and it can potentially improve the technical feasibility of the FET while minimizing its ischemic complications.

Abstract The emerging concept of the hydrogen economy is facing challenges associated with hydrogen storage and transport. The utilization of ammonia as an energy (hydrogen) carrier for the on-site generation of hydrogen via ammonia decomposition has gained attraction among the scientific community. Ruthenium-based catalysts are highly active but their high cost and less abundance are limitations for scale-up application. Therefore, combining ruthenium with cheaper transition metals such as nickel, cobalt, iron, molybdenum, etc., to generate metal-metal (bimetallic) surfaces suitable for ammonia decomposition has been investigated in recent years. Herein, the recent trends in developing bimetallic catalyst systems, the role of metal type, support materials, promoter, synthesis techniques, and the investigations of the reaction kinetics and mechanism for ammonia decomposition have been reviewed.

Abstract In order to develop integrated management approaches for Pectinophora gossypiella, basic studies are crucial. The two-sex life table is the most important tool for describing the fitness and population parameters of both sexes (male and female) of an insect, while the traditional life table only explains the female sex of an insect. However, no study has reported on the biology of P. gossypiella using two-sex life table tools. Therefore, this study explains the rearing dynamics of P. gossypiella on a cotton seed-based artificial diet and a natural diet (mature cotton bolls). According to the results, the oviposition period of P. gossypiella was recorded to be longer on the artificial diet (9.07 ± 0.24) compared to the natural diet (7.40 ± 0.11). The total fecundity of P. gossypiella was greater on the artificial diet (125.94 ± 3.06) in comparison to the natural diet (60.37 ± 1.10). The population parameters, including intrinsic rate of increase, finite rate of increase, gross reproductive rate, and net reproductive rate of P. gossypiella were highest on the artificial diet in comparison to the natural diet. This study concluded that the cotton seed-based artificial diet was most suitable for the rearing of P. gossypiella. In the future, P. gossypiella may be studied in depth in light of the findings in this study.

Abstract The temperature dependent thermophysical fluid properties have numerous aspects in different industries and engineering processes in which heat transmission is based on fluid flow. For such heat transmission processes, heat transmission system is highly fluctuated with variation of viscosity. Thus, the aim of this study is to investigate the transfer of heat in magnetized Carreau fluid with chemical reaction and under influence of thermal radiation over nonlinear stretching/shrinking surface. Additionally, we have incorporated variable heat dependent thermophysical properties to analyze the heat transfer in magnetized Carreau fluid. Set of flow governing non linear PDE's are obtained using Carreau fluid tensor and boundary layer approximation (BLA) theory. Dimensionless set of ODE's are obtained using suitable similarity transforms. Shooting method in conjunction with Newton's method have been utilized to solve the problem. It is noted that when stretching [Formula: see text] is significant with strictly increasing mass suction [Formula: see text] shear stress rate increase with minor levels and sharp increase has been observed in Nusselt number, whereas in shrinking case [Formula: see text] shear stress and heat transfer coefficient values are improved raising the value of [Formula: see text] mass suction. Further, raising the values of power law index [Formula: see text] produce reduced skin friction over stretching surface [Formula: see text] while skin friction dramatically enhance in shrinking case [Formula: see text]. It is observed that raising the non-linearity [Formula: see text] values for stretching or shrinking, skin friction and Nusselt number considerably improved. Moreover, computational outcomes of the study are validated with already published previous results and the results obtained in this study are found in good agreement.
