Abstract We present the first simultaneous measurement of the ratio of branching fractions, R=B(t --> Wb)/B(t --> Wq), with q being a d, s, or b quark, and the top-quark pair production cross section sigma(tt[over]) in the lepton plus jets channel using 0.9 fb(-1) of pp[over] collision data at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV collected with the D0 detector. We extract R and sigma(tt[over]) by analyzing samples of events with 0, 1, and > or =2 identified b jets. We measure R=0.97(+0.09)/(-0.08)(stat+syst) and sigma(tt[over])=8.18(+0.09)(-0.84)(stat+syst) +/- 0.50(lumi) pb, in agreement with the standard model prediction.

Abstract Background: Chronic antibiotic refractory pouchitis after restorative proctocolectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis, characterized by at least 4 weeks of pouchitis symptoms that have not responded to standard antibiotic therapy, presents a therapeutic challenge for patients and healthcare providers.
Objective: The aim of this narrative review was to summarize the current evidence regarding management of chronic antibiotic refractory pouchitis.
Data sources: Studies were identified through search of PubMed database from the National Library of Medicine.
Study selection: We included case series, cohort studies, randomized-controlled trials, and systematic reviews with meta-analyses that addressed chronic antibiotic refractory pouchitis management, with prioritization of data published within the last 3-5 years.
Intervention: Studies examining pharmacologic and select non-pharmacologic interventions were included.
Main outcome measure: Outcomes measures included clinical, endoscopic, and histologic endpoints.
Results: Mesalamine has demonstrated efficacy in symptom improvement but no improvement in quality of life. Budesonide has demonstrated high rates of clinical remission that have mostly been sustained in a small number of patients. Anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha therapies have demonstrated efficacy in reaching clinical and even endoscopic endpoints, although rates of treatment discontinuation were not insignificant. Limited evidence is encouraging for use of ustekinumab in achieving clinical response. Data for vedolizumab are favorable across clinical, endoscopic, and histologic endpoints, including one of the only randomized, placebo-controlled trials. Non-medication therapies including hyperbaric oxygen therapy and fecal microbiota transplant have undergone limited evaluation and concerns about ultimate accessibility of these therapies remain.
Limitations: Overall, studies assessing therapeutic options for chronic antibiotic refractory pouchitis are mostly limited to case series and retrospective studies with small sample sizes.
Conclusions: Biologic therapies have demonstrated efficacy in the management of chronic antibiotic refractory pouchitis and offer a steroid-sparing option for refractory disease. Non-pharmacologic therapies, including hyperbaric oxygen and fecal microbiota transplant, require further exploration. See video.

Title translation Acute diltiazem (DTZ) poisoning. Survey of french poison control centers.
Abstract Unlabelled: The end-points of this study upon 134 cases reports by the french Poison Centers from 1979 to 1988 (10 years) were to specify the acute toxicity of diltiazem (DTZ). There were 83 self-poisonings in adults, with diltiazem alone (36 cases) or associated with other non cardiotoxic drugs (47), the doses of DTZ ranging from 300 to 5400 mg, and 51 acute accidental overdose in children, the doses of DTZ ranging from 60 to 420 mg. One case of hypotension was observed in a child, without rhythmic disorder, occurring twelve hours post-ingestion of 180 mg of DTZ. In adults, the clinical effects were observed following 360 mg of dose DTZ, occurring 1 1/2 hour post-ingestion. There were discomfort, brady-cardia in 16% of the cases, hypotension in 23% of the cases, cardiogenic shock in 4% of the cases and cardiac arrest in 2.4% of the cases. The rhythmic disorders occurred 2 to 15 hours post-ingestion. There were conduction defects like atrio-ventricular heart bloc I degree in 9% of the cases, II degree in 2.4% of the cases and III degree in 9% of the cases. Less frequently, sinusal bradycardia in 11% of the cases or sino-auricular heart block in 4% of the cases with sometimes auriculo ventricular heart block. These cardiac disorders occurred with 600 mg of DTZ. A cardiac arrest happened in a young healthy man who had absorbed 5400 mg of DTZ. The cardiogenic shocks occurred in patients with an history of coronary on heart disease. The poison removal is likely to prevent the occurrence of clinical or EKG effects when performed within 2 hours post-ingestion, whatever toxic the dose is. The inotropic drugs have been used in 18% of the cases; a percutaneous ventricular pacing was always effective in patients with II or III degree atrio-ventricular block or/and cardiogenir shock. These data confirm the data in thirteen patients of the literature.
In conclusion: The acute diltiazem poisoning can occur after 600 mg of DTZ and can induce severe cardiac disorders which can be prevented with poison removal or treated with supportive care.

Abstract Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a highly prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder associated with suboptimal outcomes throughout the life-span. Extant work suggests that ADHD-related deficits in task performance may be magnified under high cognitive load and minimized under high perceptual load, but these effects have yet to be systematically examined, and the neural mechanisms that undergird these effects are as yet unknown. Herein, we report results from three experiments investigating how performance in ADHD is modulated by cognitive load and perceptual load during a naturalistic task. Results indicate that cognitive load and perceptual load influence task performance, reaction time variability (RTV), and brain network topology in an ADHD-specific fashion. Increasing cognitive load resulted in reduced performance, greater RTV, and reduced brain network efficiency in individuals with ADHD relative to those without. In contrast, increased perceptual load led to relatively greater performance, reduced RTV, and greater brain network efficiency in ADHD. These results provide converging evidence that brain network efficiency and intraindividual variability in ADHD are modulated by both cognitive and perceptual load during naturalistic task performance.

Abstract Fingerprinting is one of the most commonly used techniques to obtain pieces of evidence for identification of individuals. An estimation of how long a trace has been left at a crime scene could represent an important improvement for criminal investigations. There is no reliable analytical method, however, to estimate the age of a fingerprint, since this is an uncontrolled process and changes are affected by factors such as environmental conditions. This study aims to better understand the aging process of fingerprints and identify the relevant variables and limitations of the fingerprint aging process using near infrared hyperspectral imaging (NIR-HSI). For this purpose, aging of the fingerprints of 13 volunteers was evaluated using partial least squares - discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) as a preliminary exploratory approach. Four different modelling approaches were evaluated. The percentage of correctly classified pixels varied from 20.92% to 66.67%. An analysis of the associated spectra found that during the first days of aging the degradation of fat-soluble components, as well as the elimination/absorption of water, seemed to follow non-uniform trends and vary in degradation rate from donor to donor. Better classification tended to occur over longer aging times.

Abstract Punishment of moral norm violators is instrumental for human cooperation. Yet, social and affective neuroscience research has primarily focused on second- and third-party norm enforcement, neglecting the neural architecture underlying observed (vicarious) punishment of moral wrongdoers. We used naturalistic television drama as a sampling space for observing outcomes of morally-relevant behaviors to assess how individuals cognitively process dynamically evolving moral actions and their consequences. Drawing on Affective Disposition Theory, we derived hypotheses linking character morality with viewers' neural processing of characters' rewards and punishments. We used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to examine neural responses of 28 female participants while free-viewing 15 short story summary video clips of episodes from a popular US television soap opera. Each summary included a complete narrative structure, fully crossing main character behaviors (moral/immoral) and the consequences (reward/punishment) characters faced for their actions. Narrative engagement was examined via intersubject correlation and representational similarity analysis. Highest cortical synchronization in 9 specifically selected regions previously implicated in processing moral information was observed when characters who act immorally are punished for their actions with participants' empathy as an important moderator. The results advance our understanding of the moral brain and the role of normative considerations and character outcomes in viewers' engagement with popular narratives.
