Abstract Background: COVID-19 pandemic troubled hospital and university's organization. Previous study showed oncology resident's formation has been impacted by pandemic. One year later, we aimed to evaluate the state of oncology resident's formation.
Methods: We conducted a transversal study written by AERIO and SJRO, released via social networks and mail to the French oncology residents.
Results: One hundred and sixty-four residents answered. Sixty-four (39%) were male and 99 (60.4%) were female, mean age was 26.8 years old, mean semester was 5.7. One hundred and five (64%) were medical oncologist and 53 (32.3%) were radiation oncologist. One hundred and forty residents (85.4%) had lectures during hospital internships, mainly in cancer center (77.1%) and academic hospitals (60.7%). One hundred and twenty-one residents (73.8%) had specialized diploma lectures, in 34.7% of case monthly. Respectively 42.7% and 18.3% of residents could access to their formation's day respectively rarely and never. Strengths of oncology residency were scientific dynamism (91.9%), clinical breadth (82%) and knowledge renewal (78.9%). Attractivity's obstacles to the residency were psychological arduousness (64%), administrative burden (48.2%) and too important worktime (47%).
Conclusion: This survey shows the state of play of French oncology residency's formation at the end of 2021.

Title translation Thyroid tumors in the adult revealed by unilateral laryngeal paralysis.
Abstract Goal: To analyze the characteristic of thyroid tumor associated with ipsilateral unilateral laryngeal paralysis (ULP) in the adult patient.
Materials and methods: Retrospective analysis of a cohort of 30 patients with ULP related to an ipsilateral thyroid tumor (group A) and comparison with a cohort of 99 patients in whom ULP revealed a non-thyroid tumor (group B).
Results: Group A consisted of 66.6% of women with a mean age of 69 years. Comparison between both groups noted that female gender was more frequent in group A (66.6% vs. 17.1%, P<0.0001), and the underlying tumor was more frequently malignant in group B (89.9% vs. 43.4%, P<0.0001). Within group A, the incidence for recovery of laryngeal motion varied form 0% for malignant tumor to 50% for benign tumor. In patients with a benign thyroid tumor in whom recovery of laryngeal motion did not occur, the watch policy initiated allowed to detect a pathology (malignant tumor or neurological) explaining persistent ULP in 57% of cases.
Conclusion: The present series confirm that ULP in the face of thyroid tumor does not allow to distinguish formally between benign and malignant tumors and highlight the value of a long term watch policy in patients with benign thyroid tumor pathology in whom recovery of laryngeal mobility does not occur.

Abstract Two recent preventive excavations carried out in the centre of Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) allowed to study the evolution of districts located in the outskirts of Augustonemetum, during the Early Roman Empire. The humidity of the ground ensured the conservation of many timbers and allows to understand the place of this material in the urban architecture of the chief town of Arverni’s territory. The diversity of observed spaces and the variety of contexts (hostel, domus, craft workshops, place of worship) offer a first approach of the construction techniques, on the one hand thanks to the analysis of the various types of assemblages employed and of architectural devices, and, on the other hand, through the study of the strategies of supply and of management of wooden resources.

Abstract Numerous plant-based repellents are widely used for personal protection against host-seeking mosquitoes. Vitiveria zizanioides (L.) Nash essential oil and its constituents have demonstrated various mosquito repellent activities. In this study, three chemical actions of vetiver oil and five constituents (terpinen-4-ol, α-terpineol, valencene, vetiverol and vetivone) were characterized against Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus and Culex quinquefasciatus by using the high-throughput screening assay system (HITSS). Significant contact escape responses in Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus to all test compounds at concentrations between 2.5 and 5% were observed. Spatial repellency responses were also observed in some tested mosquito populations depending upon concentrations. The most significant toxic response on mosquitoes was found at the highest concentration, except for vetivone which had no toxic effect on Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus. Results on phototoxic and genotoxic hazard revealed that vetiver oil and their constituents showed no phototoxic potential or any significant genotoxic response. In conclusion, vetiver oil and two constituents, valencene and vetiverol, are potentials as active ingredients for mosquito repellency and present no toxicity.

Abstract Strychnos nux-vomica L. (Loganiaceae) is famous for its monomeric alkaloid content, such as strychnine, a convulsant poison. The stem bark of the tree is traditionally used to treat intermittent fever in South East Asia. In various studies, it appeared that dimeric indolo-monoterpenic alkaloids possess a promising activity on Plasmodium falciparum. Three bisindolomonoterpenic alkaloids together with strychnochrysine, previously identified in the root bark of S. nux-vomica, were isolated from the stem bark. The structures of these compounds were established using NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Stereochemistry of the compounds was confirmed by molecular modelling. This then allowed the structural determination of strychnoflavine, a coloured bisindole alkaloid previously isolated from the root bark of the tree. Moreover, the conformational inversion in alkaloids possessing an ether bond in the strychnane moiety could be easily predicted by specific δ (13)C NMR values. These longicaudatine-type alkaloids were found to display in vitro antiplasmodial activity against a chloroquine resistant strain and a chloroquine sensitive strain. The most interesting was strychnochrysine showing an IC(50) value at around 10 μM.
