    Abstract Over the past few decades there have been major advances in computed tomography (CT) to improve the performance of cardiac imaging. Thanks to the improved scanning speed, power boost tubes, and increased-width detectors, the latest CT technology delivers greater coverage, better spatial and temporal resolution, and functional information on cardiac diseases. Focusing on cardiac CT imaging, this book offers case-based information on cardiac diseases, presents the current technical status, and highlights applications, helping readers systematically understand how cardiac CTs are performed and interpreted in clinical practice. Divided into six chapters, it broadly discusses the characteristics of CT imaging and its applications to coronary artery disease (CAD); non-atherosclerotic coronary artery disease; congenital heart disease; cardiac neoplasms; cardiomyopathy and aortic diseases.

    Abstract Since both serum uric acid (SUA) and renal artery stenosis (RAS) are associated with atherosclerotic events and renal events, it is interesting to investigate whether SUA could predict long-term outcome in patients with RAS. Patients were enrolled from inpatients from 2010 to 2014, must be ≥40-year-old. There were 3269 hypertensive patients enrolled, including 325 RAS patients. Endpoints included all-cause death and new or worsening nephropathy (NNP). In analysis for all-cause mortality, associations between SUA and risk of all-cause mortality were an arising curve in total population, a U-shape curve in non-RAS population, and an arising curve in RAS population. When RAS was involved in multivariate analysis, association between SUA and risk of all-cause mortality was still an arising curve in total population. In analysis for NNP, associations between SUA and risk of NNP were a declining curve in total population, not significant in non-RAS population, and a U-shape curve in RAS population. When RAS was involved in multivariate analysis, association between SUA and risk of NNP in total population was no longer significant. Not only association curve of SUA with mortality in non-RAS patients is different from association curve in RAS patients, but also association curve of SUA with NNP in non-RAS patients is different from association curve in RAS patients. The authors conclude that mechanisms of uric acid for mortality and NNP in RAS patients are different from non-RAS patients. In addition to renal vascular obstruction, uric acid is another significant factor for NNP and death in RAS patients.

    Abstract Antibody arrays play a pivotal role in the detection and quantification of biomolecules, with their effectiveness largely dependent on efficient protein immobilization. Traditional methods often use heterobifunctional cross-linking reagents for attaching functional residues in proteins to corresponding chemical groups on the substrate surface. However, this method does not control the antibody's anchoring point and orientation, potentially leading to reduced binding efficiency and overall performance. Another method using anti-antibodies as intermediate molecules to control the orientation can be used but it demonstrates lower efficiency.     Abstract A new method based on a digital twin is proposed for fault diagnosis, in order to compensate for the shortcomings of the existing methods for fault diagnosis modeling, including the single fault type, low similarity, and poor visual effect of state monitoring. First, a fault diagnosis test platform is established to analyze faults under constant and variable speed conditions. Then, the obtained data are integrated into the Unity3D platform to realize online diagnosis and updated with real-time working status data. Finally, an industrial test of the digital twin model is conducted, allowing for its comparison with other advanced methods in order to verify its accuracy and application feasibility. It was found that the accuracy of the proposed method for the entire reducer was 99.5%, higher than that of other methods based on individual components (e.g., 93.5% for bearings, 96.3% for gear shafts, and 92.6% for shells).

    Abstract Considerable progress has been made in the experimental studies on laser-induced terahertz (THz) radiation in liquids. Liquid THz demonstrates many unique features different from the gas and plasma THz. For example, the liquid THz can be efficiently produced by a monochromatic laser. Its yield is maximized with a longer driving-pulse duration. It is also linearly dependent on the excitation pulse energy. In two-color laser fields, an unexpected unmodulated THz field was measured, and its energy dependence of the driving laser is completely different from that of the modulated THz waves. However, the underlying microscopic mechanism is still unclear due to the difficulties in the description of ultrafast dynamics in complex disordered liquids. Here we propose a shift-current model.     Abstract Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a potentially fatal condition affecting the human immune system, which is attributed to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The suppression of reverse transcriptase activity is a promising and feasible strategy for the therapeutic management of AIDS. In this study, we employed machine learning algorithms, such as support vector machines (SVM), k-nearest neighbor (k-NN), random forest (RF), and Gaussian naive base (GNB), which are fast and effective tools commonly used in drug design. For model training, we initially obtained a dataset of 5,159 compounds from BindingDB. The models were assessed using tenfold cross-validation to ensure their accuracy and reliability.     Abstract Abstract: This study systematically reviewed the performance of bandage contact lenses (BCL) such as lotrafilcon A, lotrafilcon B, senofilcon A, balafilcon A, and comfilcon A as postoperative treatment in different ocular surgeries. A systematic search of English and Chinese databases (from inception to December 2021) was conducted for studies reporting the efficacy of BCLs after ocular surgeries. Postoperative symptoms, corneal healing, and visual outcomes were studied. Overall, 38 studies were identified. Bandage contact lens was applied as a postoperative aid in corneal refractive, cataract, and vitrectomy surgeries. Most studies were on photorefractive keratectomy. Reduced postoperative symptoms were observed within 4 hr to 3 days, whereas re-epithelization of the cornea and healing was complete within 3 to 7 days after ocular surgeries except for vitrectomy. In a vitrectomy, greater comfort and improved corneal epithelium were observed on the seventh day after surgery. An improvement in dry eye symptoms was observed at 7 days with considerable benefits observed after 1 month of cataract surgery. These findings indicate that BCLs are effective for improving postoperative symptoms and facilitation of early visual rehabilitation with a wear time of 8 hr to 7 days depending on the type of ocular surgery.
